  1. Funny dude man...you battle all the keyboard warriors claiming Kate Upton is not hot (as if the thread has been rampant with such comments) and in your next post, you become the keyboard warrior claiming such alleged depraved acts with the permission of your alleged wife. She's a decent looking chick. If the lay was easy and I was single or with someone I didn't care that much about, sure I'd hit that. But I certainly wouldn't make an effort and I wouldn't trade the current lady I'm dating for her. Even if out of 100 guys, 99 guys would, I'd be the one that wouldn't. Understand that not everybody drools over Kate Upton, and expressing that opinion doesn't mean that you're some loser pretending to be a big shot online who gets all these hot chicks.
  2. Today is a good day for me. Had a great long weekend up at the cottage and as an unexpected bonus I get to see a pic of Hope Solo's naked chunky ass. I could care less about those other celebs though. But that Bar Rafaeli chick, whoever she is, has got the perfect pussy. Yum yum. For once I'm glad Hitler didn't finish the job
  3. I like living in a country where we don't have to be legitimately afraid of our black people. Some fat spoiled brat gets shot for acting like a tough guy and a cop put him in his place and a whole state has to be put under curfew. No one can say with a straight face that the US doesn't have some f***ed up problems well beyond anything Canada has to deal with.
  4. When people post this brilliant argument, they often ignore the context of this team. It's a lot more profitable to do something about this bush league MIF situation when Reyes/Lawrie are injured than it is to try to upgrade on Happ.
  5. I agree with everything you say there, except the expectation on Lawrie not being injured...if it walks like a lame duck and talks like a lame duck...building the team around expectations that Lawrie and Reyes will play 300 games next year will only cause the same problems we have seen the past two years which played a part in the August demise. My order of priority would be: 1. Sign Melky (I'm fine with Gose at CF and Pillar or some other scrub at 4th OF if they sign Melky) 2. Get a decent 2B (or SS and move Reyes) 3. catcher upgrade 4. Defensively capable infielder who wouldn't look terrible in the line up if he ended up playing 100+ games next year And they can let the cards fall as they will on the pitching side. Certainly not against picking up a pitcher should an opportunity arise, but that should not displace the need to fill the gaping holes on the offensive side of this team.
  6. People just need to forget about this. Alex has shown no ability to sign a top end free agent, especially not a pitcher. And in the trade market he would plug one hole by making another even worse gaping hole or emptying out the farm where the farm is now defined as a few near-MLB-ready pitchers and a bunch of guys years away. Every team would target two or more of Stroman, Norris, Sanchez or Hutchison and then the Jays go back to having depth problems. The most realistic way this team has to compete is to use the relatively good SP depth (the Jays will have 5 ok guys starting next year) and stack the offense as much as they possibly can.
  7. Josh Towers is a perfect example of a guy who had poor command within the strike zone. Look at his career H/9 vs BB/9. He's the Jays all-time leader in lowest BB/9, and yet he was super s*** for the second half of his Blue Jays career.
  8. Sanchez should be given every opportunity to start at the MLB level unless the Jays have 5 solid options that are better than him.
  9. This screams of someone who NEVER gets laid. - It stinks. - no it doesn't. Except around sewage treatment plants which every large metropolitan area has - It's dirty and polluted. - not really, unless you consider the out of control dogshit problem, again not something Toronto faces in isolation. - People are not friendly (keep-to-yourself culture). True, that one is correct, but if you are outgoing and friendly, 9 times out of 10 you will get a good response. And by that I don't mean hitting up randoms at a bar or on the TTC, which is what I think you're referring to. - People live to work. - true, that one sucks - People are selfish douchebags. - only in Woodbridge. - Mayor is an incompetent crack-head. - Mayor is awesome and I'm probably going to vote for him again, 90% of it is out of irony and to piss people off, and the other 10% is he actually gets us car-driving, house-owning, racoon-hating people. - Lake is a toxic swamp. - it's one of the cleanest you can get near a metropolitan area. I have swam at the Rouge beach for years without a problem. Beuatiful beach with a clean body of water. This point in particular screams of whiny ignorance - One of the worst cities for traffic in the world. 100% true, because people take it up the ass from their employer all the time. I work at home. If you're not a doctor or construction worker or someone else that NEEDS to be on location to do a job, you should be at home too. Pencil pushers and techies should not be commuting. - Transit system is an absolute joke. Compared to Paris or Rome, the reach of the subways suck, but the cleanliness and comfort of them are miles better in Toronto. Just pray you don't get your hand caught in a subway in Rome. It WILL be chopped off. - Sports franchises are all hopeless. up until last year Seattle had it way worse (losing teams and they lost the Sonics). Things can always happen to turn it around. - Women would rather eat poutine than entertain their sexuality. - see my first sentence above. I have no issues with women. - The city is dead after 2:00 AM. - i'm usually in bed or on the internet...don't care.
  10. If Lind could play the outfield and hit everyday, he could take Melky's spot. Then Melky could be the trade piece to perhaps fill the holes you pointed out. There's an example where Lind half-assing his job could point to the Blue Jays failure to improve. I'm not taking anything away from AA half-assing his job too, but with Lind it's a little like the pot calling the kettle black.
  11. I'm obviously not comparing Ling to Jo-Jo, I'm using an extreme example to get my point across. BigJohn's comment about never seeing him bust his ass is a part of the problem with this team. Then you have Lind adding commentary or showing frustration about it. He should do something about it if he is so frustrated! Now the question is Lind adding $7M worth of value. 1-2 WAR player who can only achieve that in a platoon position meant to maximize his usefulness (and therefore make management's life more difficult on other roster options because they have to cater to him) and provide no value on defense - it's ok value, not great. On a truly playoff team, a guy producing like Lind is the 22-24th man on your roster when he is meant to be and capable of being more.
  12. If Jo-Jo Reyes said the Blue Jays stunk would you demand that he be acquired back too? It takes more than just being able to criticize. How about doing something about it? Lind can criticize from the stands if he wants but right now his job is to bust his ass and win. And years of his half-assing his job has been one of the many issues with this team since AA took over. The Jays could use a corner outfielder who can play everyday with at .850+ OPS a lot more than a platoon DH who hits the same in a limited role.
  13. The problem is it's ONE YEAR and $19M. Alex has no problem spending that on the short term, but the longer term contracts required to attract impact players are out of the question. So then you have to hope he finds two Melky type of players who have two 2014 type of years and not 2013. The more likely scenario if Buehrle goes is the payroll just goes unused and the Jays are out a 200+ IP starter.
  14. What exactly has Lind done to help the team from falling out of contention? He's an ok, underachieving platoon DH...not exactly material that takes you to the playoffs.
  15. You can't sell everyone at the top of their game. The Jays had expectations to contend at the start of 2013 and he was the most reliable guy in the bullpen at the time....sadly he STILL might be. I don't find any fault in not "selling high" on Janssen. That still doesn't excuse the fact that the Jays had two relievers not named Janssen in last year's all-star game and that didn't result in dealing from strength.
  16. I have been a supporter of Janssen returning at a reasonable contract, but not a QO. Good thing he is at least making this decision easier on the team this past month or so.
  17. I'm partial to the Ottawa Wetbacks...or whatever they're called.
  18. You forgot Blue Jays as an option.
  19. Dude, the myth of the hive went down the toilet when there was 20 pages dedicated to Erik Krapz with the laughable notion that he's worth $75 million in excess value, and the board was pretty split down the middle about it.
  20. f***ing people and their NL bashing. Sure a pitcher faces another pitcher a couple times a night, but they also have to hit too. The AL pitchers can 100% dedicate themselves to pitching and if you believe the premise that elite millionaire athletes can have the fitness level of James Gandolfini, they don't have to deal with the "fatigue" factor of hitting or running the basepaths the 10% of the time they actually make it on base.
  21. Aren't you around 16? Teenage years and "busy as f***" are two concepts that don't go together. Your wiener and hand can stand to have the hour long hiatus from each other.
  22. Somebody wants an autograph but doesn't want to wait in line? Then the guy with the eBay baseball card shop will do it for you for a price. Deliver it right to your doorstep. Capitalism rules. I have never gotten anything signed before because I don't personally care, but I can imagine that most of the charm behind it is meeting that person and the autograph is proof that you did. So I don't get buying people's autographs from a third party.
  23. As an outsider this is just speculation, but if I had to choose who has been half-assing his job and pouting, AA or any player with the Jays, I am going to take the former. There have been many, many posts on this board about how AA could have improved the team, even if the payroll was stuck at its current size. These posts are made by people who don't have access to a plethora of data and a team of people to help gather data and make good decisions. Instead of picking up the phone and doing what he can to try to fill holes he goes on repeated sessions to the waiver wire to try and strike some gold. If a player is dogging it on the field, the team leaders will call him out about it. The players sense AA has been dogging it in the front office.
  24. Did the Jays play somewhere else in 2008? Blaming the Rogers Centre is such a cop out. Over the past 20 years this team has had a massive variance in run scored/given up season-to-season and go above and below averages for total runs scored for MLB all the time. I'm not an expert in park factors or where to find such reliable stats but Baseball Reference has the park factor wavering between 95 and 105 every year. And they are always lower in years that the team is stacked towards pitching and with weak offense. It's not like the Blue Jays were throwing out 9 Ozzie Smiths and 5 Bob Gibsons out there in 2008. Litsch, McGowan and Marcum, ie very average pitchers were overcoming the Rogers bandbox pretty easily while perfectly capable hitters like Wells, Rios, Lind, Stairs and Rolen along with the rest blasted only 126 home runs. There's nothing so extreme or inexcusable about the Rogers Centre's so-called hitter friendly atmosphere.
  25. Your sports team doesn't end up nagging you or gaining massive amounts of weight *queue infamous AA walking away with fat ass gif*
