  1. And I would say 1-5, the 2014 rotation has been better than the 1993 rotation. Buehrle > Guzman Dickey < Hentgen Stroman > Stottlemyre Hutchison = Stewart Happ >>> Morris
  2. I would say 2014 Buehrle has been better than 1993 Guzman. So either Buehrle is a legit ace for this team, or the 1993 team didn't have a legit ace.
  3. Buatista in the HOF is a near-impossibility. The best case scenario for him is he produces another 5 years and he might have a career close to Jason Giambi, who, juice or no juice, is a fringe candidate himself.
  4. Really? Who was the ace of this team: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TOR/1993.shtml
  5. I agree with your last sentence. But again go back to how AA thinks. Happ is a one year $6.7M commitment for decent value. If they are maneuvering to get a good MIF, a multiple year salary commitment will be needed. If Happ had three years left it might make sense to let him go. But I'd keep Happ for the little bit of extra cash this one year than save some money by going with a wild card in Jenkins when the Jays are supposed to compete. Then in 2016 Happ's salary comes off the books, with Morrow coming off this off-season. The more likely scenario under AA's tenure is that if Happ gets dumped, the salary savings won't be used effectively or at all and the Jays will be out a decent #5 starter. With Beeston going on rants about how the money is there.
  6. 92nd best and there's 30 teams with a 5 man rotation for 150 slots. 92nd best sounds like a solid back end starter to me who can hit the minimum innings required to be ranked by rate stats. Happ really hasn't had a "disastrous" year in a Jays uniform. This is his first full year relatively injury free with the Jays and it's not like his injuries have been chronic arm problems...freak accident and sore back. His stats are ok, his stuff has potential for him to have more upside and his durability (which is a BIG one with this team) has been excellent this year.
  7. The Jays got handed a gift with one rookie pitcher this year. Competing teams shouldn't be relying on luck to strike again. I suppose it's possible in March after spring training to re-evaluate.
  8. If they can go externally, that's one thing. But you have to look at it from AA's perspective, a lazy motherf***er with a one-track mind. I'd rather have that track focused on a MIF solution and dumping Morrow will provide some room for that. And shoring up the OF with Melky or an equivalent. Getting an upgrade on trash at 2B for $5-$10M is relatively easy. Getting an upgrade on Happ for >$7M is hard. Just being realistic with how this team will move forward in 2015.
  9. They need extra heart against Seattle. KC and Detroit need to have so much heart in their 6 games they have nothing left in the tank for for the White Sox.
  10. 79.5 was the over/under on wins for this team. I'm guessing he's got that bet then after that he doesn't give a damn what the team does.
  11. Who would replace Happ internally, assuming Morrow is gone? FWIW I expect Happ to have a better year next year than this one. It's like he's finally learning how to pitch in his 30's.
  12. I'm hoping they'll call him a 14 game winner next year!
  13. 3-0 on their way to 26-0 for September book it.
  14. The 2014 Jays will have done something no Jays team has ever done before. That's have 5 starters win at least 10 games in a year. Even in the World Series years they had at least one guy pitching like dogshit (Jack Morris) in the rotation. The closest they came was in 1990 when #5 starter John Cerutti had 9 wins. The 1991 team and 1987 team had 5 and 6 guys win 10+ each respectively, but a couple of those were relief pitchers. I know pitcher wins get mocked a lot on this board. But they can tell you something about this team. There's been no embarrassing revolving door of Laffey, Wang, Ortiz type of also-rans. No Towers-like blow ups or Drabek disappointments this year. People complain about not having an ace, but I think the team has been very lucky this year to have 5 solid guys who have pitched well enough with an above average offense to give the team a decent chance every night.
  15. I would take Happ at $6M over Morrow at $9M in a heartbeat. Assuming the other 4 spots are locked up by the other 4 current SP. There is no room for Morrow on the roster nor the payroll. Better off allocating the money to a 2B.
  16. So basically you take about 23% of Mayberry's number, 77% the league average. I dunno, it just seems like a very crude way to do things. There's some predictability basis to this?
  17. I like how he mentions "the metric system" after Buck talks about weather in degrees Celsius. Apparently everything that's not measured at an American standard is "the metric system". I've never heard Buck say the pitcher's mound is about 20 meters from the plate.
  18. Wherever Moogy goes, things turn to s*** in every thread. Figure it out dude, you ARE the wrong turn at Albuquerque. And the KKK would never be smart enough to figure out what Wall Street is...this is right up the alley of Stormfront and Zero Hedge conspiracies.
  19. Oh, that's easily explained. When Lloyd Blankfein's HFT bots aren't making Goldman Sachs enough money that day, he speed dials his buddy Jewwy Jew-Jew Junior Shabadoo or whatever the f*** his name is leading Israel right now to plow some rockets into Palestine's hospital for sick children to get some volatility on the capital markets. When things are going good for Goldman Sachs, that volatility is not needed so that's why it's quiet for a few months. There. The complications of the Israeli-Palestine riff explained in two easy sentences. If they blow each other up for good, Wall Street loses that card to play.
  20. And to think, if she pisses you off one day, you can just get rid of her under Sharia Law! Well, I hate quitters you know...plus he didn't do a very good job keeping his men in line. Ms. Refaeli definitely looks like she's got some Nazi blood in her.
  21. Yes, you don't degrade random women. You just degrade your alleged wife and the sanctity of marriage with your alleged depraved acts allegedly with her permission then brag about it on the internet without prompting. Congrats!
  22. I've seen enough of his posts to know he's a pretty smart guy and knows baseball. But this obsessive need to be an argumentative know-it-all is just weird. If he is trolling, nobody is falling for his s***. I remember the one thread he derailed between himself and Georgia Peach where he's calling him mentally challenged and the guy is just sarcastically agreeing with him, refusing to take the bait.
  23. Excellent. So we can all wait until Mayberry turns 70 for him to get the requisite number of AB against LHP to make an informed statistical decision. Or we can look at his stats now, conclude that he is a pretty good hitter against LHP and use him as a platoon bat and hope we're right. I swear, sometimes you stat guys throw all logic out the window when it comes to these things just to prove a point. There's no way Mayberry is going to get 2200 PA against LHP. There's a pretty good chance he doesn't get 2200 total PA before he's out of the MLB. So if you're a stat head going to AA with this unregressed not enough PA nonsense, you're going to get fired for wasting his time. Regress the f***ing thing, then come up with the same yes/no decision as the person looking at his career splits - that there's a good chance he can make a good platoon partner, although past results may not be indicative of future performance.
