I guess I'm part of the Bautista fan club! You'd think he was abusing women, kicking sand in the face of small children and starting fights in bars the way people on this board talk about him. Oh my god did you see Jose get upset during a highly competitive professional game where players get paid millions of dollars to perform. How could he do that..lol. I have enough self awareness that, if I was so blessed to have the physical ability to be able to play professional sports, that I wouldn't be a complete angel all the time in the heat of the moment. We have a lot of mother teresa types on this board it would seem. -
I completely agree, we're not the Phillies and we can't be the cubs or Astros. We have our own unique circumstances with the yankees and red sox being in the same division and being top 5 payroll teams and with us having a publicly traded company as it's owner. We are the Jays and no one else. We have Saunders, Revere and Donaldson as guys with a few years of control. We have Sanchez, stroman, Pillar, Osuna, Pompey, alford travis etc as young guys with a lot of control at low dollars. We have vets signed long term. We have dollars coming available to spend. We are set up well today and for the mid term as well.

we're all wired differently. Jose is ultra competitive, and certainly confident, but you are coming in here and posting with the utmost confidence and conviction calling out a player. Do you feel your personality type is more like Jose or Devon Travis? -
I don't understand why people keep ignoring the financial impact of the Price trade. David and all the acquisitions of Tulo, Revere, Lowe and Hawkins were key to the Jays making the playoffs. People are just looking at the loss of norris, and 2 mid level prospects. Firstly Norris may or may not reach an elite level. Secondly and more importantly the playoff pool money going to the team is a big plus, the 600 to 700K fans attending in the regular season due to being in the playoff picture until the end of the season is a big plus, the doubling of tv viewership in the second half of the regular season is a massive plus and the merchandising sales have been through the roof. The TV advertising revenues Rogers charges next year is going to be significantly higher. This wasn't just 2 months of price for 6 years of Norris. Without Price and the other moves we likely don't win the division. These moves have added 10s of millions of dollars of revenue to the team.

yeah..you might not like Joey bats if you are a baseball fan that gets upset when in the heat of the playoffs that his competitive nature causes him to complain about balls and strikes. If you're someone from an impoverished situation, who may not even know anything about baseball and receives benefits from the charitable work that Jose does, you probably think he's an amazing guy. It's all a matter of perspective and what you value most. I think you might be focusing on the wrong things when determining what type of guy Jose is, but then again I do quite a bit of charitable work myself so I value people who give back to those less fortunate. -

Some people get up in arms when Bautista the competitor argues a ball or yells at an opposing player. This year he's actually controlled himself more in terms of arguing with officials, but I separate the competitive player from the person in real life. Bautista isn't the guy getting into trouble off the field and he has his own charitable foundation. He not only does his fair share for charity outside of baseball, he does more than most. . zimmerman isn't terrible....iwakuma isn't too bad...kasmir is okay....not sure how much cueto cost himself in dollar terms...that Greinke guy isn't the worst pitcher in baseball...brett anderson, fister, lackey, samardzija, latos, leake, estrada. there's actually quite a few options....you don't have to get the number 1. We have stroman. A couple of number 2 or 3 guys wouldn't pair nice with Stroman. There's some buy low candidates, there's some older guys you won't have to commit as long too....

pitching on 3 days rest, in the playoffs where he has had issues, against a team in texas that he's had trouble with, coming in with a 7 run lead....there's both physical and mental things you could point to in today's game. I would have rather seen him get to pitch game 5 on normal rest, but he didn't throw that many pitches...let him start and right the ship in game one this Friday.

it's obvious they made up their mind that they wanted Stroman for game 5....Price pitching today in relief means he starts game 1 of the next round...I don't agree with this thinking...but it is what it is..
