  1. what's the harm in offer 1.5 mil on a guaranteed deal. Seems like he might be worth a flyer.
  2. yeah, because Stroman is so much different than every other celebrity marketing crap on-line. Every celebrity my wife follows constantly posts about the clothes and crap they are getting paid to promote. That's how people make money.
  3. didn't realize JD could play SS.
  4. yes, having looked it up I know it is their 2nd round pick. Off memory I wasn't sure if they were a competitive balance A or B team so I said 3rd highest pick. The point was they don't lose 2 picks and money against the IFA market.
  5. I'm pretty sure they lose their third highest selection in the draft and no dollars against the IFA budget. Colorado wasn't a luxury tax team last year. I could be wrong about this.
  6. wade davis to the rockies....
  7. Travis is such a nice guy. He's a 3 to 4 win player if he can stay healthy. I knew goins and Barney played a lot last year, but 459 plate appearances for Goins and 362 for Barney; that's just gross. We need Tulo and Travis to be reasonably healthy and both get 100 or more games in. Add in Diaz to the mix and it's going to be a huge upgrade over Goins and Barney.
  8. Don't stop at Donaldson. Trade Stroman and Sanchez. You can hardly wait for the Jays to go through a couple 90 loss seasons.
  9. he might not be worth 30, but he's worth more than Santana and he got 20 mil per year for 3 years.
  10. In 2020 we have troy tulowitzki on the books for 14 mil and and Gurriel at just under 3. That's it. Stroman, Sanchez, Travis, osuna and Pillar will be in their last year of arbitration. At this point Vlad and Bichette will be in the picture. There is a path for a Donaldson extension. If you could get a 5 year extension with an option for a 6th with a decent buyout for the player. Everyone is afraid to take risks. We're in a division with the Yankees and Red Sox. Signing Donaldson long term could blow up in your face, but it could work out really well too. By 2020 we're going to have young arms ready to contribute. Hopefully one of the catchers step up. You'll know what you have in Alford and Hernandez. I'm really high on Alford and Reid Foley, but I know many don't share that sentiment.
  11. Hernandez and Alford are ready to make a difference. Tulo does have some gas left in the tank. We need some bullpen help. We could have signed Rondon for a reasonable cost. Go sign a lackey. Our starting 4 still very good. We need one decent starter and a couple bullpen arms. I don't see any way this team trades Donaldson before the middle of the season. Why would you sign estrada to one year 13 mil extension if you were going to blow it up?
  12. given what the angels have done with their team, I would think Avila would be a nice fit with them.
  13. he was only expected to earn 6 in arbitration so I would say it's 4.25 per year. I was hoping the Jays would take a chance on Rondon
  14. You wouldn't even be tempted to trade Bo for a proven guy like Yelich? Yelich has 5 years of control left. You're only losing 1 year of control for a proven guy. Bo has played very well, but he hasn't even hit AA yet and his numbers did drop when he hit Dunedin, although he only had 182 plate appearances. I guess it would depend on what else I would have to give up, but I think I'd trade Bo for Yelich.
  15. that's why I said don't sign him
  16. The Jays should just pass on Nunez, sign lackey and some reasonably priced bullpen help like Rondon and call it a day.
  17. If you're willing to take on 68 mil over 3 years on a player not worth anywhere close to that, and trade a stud player to your hated rival, the least could do is put the effort out to state what prospects you would want in return.
  18. we were second in the AL in attendance and we lost 86 games last year.
  19. and you said Vlad would have to be involved if we got him. We could have probably kept Vlad, Alford and bichette and still got him.
  20. 1. Vlad Guerrero Jr. 2. Bo Bichette 3. Anthony Alford 4. SRF 5. Nate Pearson 6. Danny Jansen 7. Logan Warmoth 8. Ryan Borucki 9. TJ Zeuch 10. Gurriel
  21. If Tulo and Travis don't play 125 games plus each and Tulo doesn't have a bounce back year at the plate the Jays aren't making the playoffs anyways. You may as well save the money and the prospects and avoid Harrison. The Jays need to sign a starter and get a bullpen arm or two. I could see trading for Ozuna if the Marlins are desperate to shed payroll and the ask was reasonable, but there will be lots of teams in on Ozuna so the price likely won't be reasonable.
  22. probably not going to be enough to get him. I don't mind 4 years up to 48, but if we're going cheap why don't we just get Lackey on a 1 year 7 mil deal.
  23. I feel for those starving fans in LA who have seen no success for professional sports teams in their region. Give me a break. Look at the Hamilton and Pujols money they spent. I'd rather have the twins or the Jays, for that matter, make the playoffs.
  24. I hope they miss the playoffs.
  25. keep it to the politics thread....
