  1. Pearson was the 14th pitcher taken in the 2017 draft. Manoah was the 2nd pitcher taken in the 2019 draft. Some people are making it sound like Manoah has come out of left field. He was the 2nd pitcher taken in his draft year. We just had a pandemic and forgot about him. Who has better stuff? No idea. The only time I saw Manoah pitch was in spring and he looked pretty nasty. He's barely got any stats and the minor league level. I wouldn't expect Pearson to have way better stuff because they were both 1st round picks. Manoah was the higher pick. Some people love velocity. Sure Pearson has topped 100. Manoah is high 90s. Secondary pitches and command will rule the day. Both have good fastballs. Personally, I don't care which is better. I hope they are both studs. I need to see a little more of Manoah before I could make a judgement. Pearson showed elite stuff in the playoffs for 2 innings, but I need to see more of that and consistency. At this point, I just want to see one of them up pitching instead of Anthony Kay. Manoah is the healthy one, so maybe he gets the next shot.
  2. I mean Washington could turn it around and rattle off 10 wins in a row, but if they continued to struggle, what would you give up to rent Mad Max for a couple months?
  3. Davis is a good kid...Super happy he got the double to start things off.
  4. They start Kay and he gives up 4 or 5 through 3 or 4 innings and then they bring In Thornton for multiple innings. Just start Thornton already!
  5. so we sent pearson down and we start Kay. Kay his pitched not great in his 3 outings. What happens if he has a bad 4th start. Do they just keep throwing Kay out there?
  6. shame ray didn't get the bunt down...could be tied.
  7. so now we get to watch more Anthony Kay. Wonderful.
  8. I thought he was elite. Now he's good? In a couple weeks he'll be a serviceable back end starter.
  9. He jumped to try and avoid it. The ball bounced about a foot and a half in front of him with major top spin and just bounced straight up to get him. I rewound the play. It was bad luck.
  10. Yes, I tuned out the Jays game and and now watching the Rays.
  11. 2 base running mistakes to bail us out. Thanks Houston! Read the scouting reports. Our outfielders have strong arms.
  12. Struggling pitcher and you try and steal bases? Thank you very much.
  13. reese MGuire just got on...let's start talking epic mother's day comeback!
  14. You think the heart won't be pounding and the nerves won't be tingling 2 months from now when he comes up again? It's the mental aspect. Going down and dominating isn't going make his next appearance any easier. It just delays the process He need reps at the MLB level.
  15. That's exactly what Dave Dombrowski said to himself before he traded Randy Johnson in 1989. Don't be Dave Dombrowski. Have some patience.
  16. He didn't get any whiffs, because he wasn't anywhere near the strike zone. He threw some good sliders that didn't get swings, because he wasn't getting any strikes with the fastball. The fastball velocity was fine. I think he was dialing the velocity back trying to get it over the plate. He would be better off letting it fly and throwing 98 down the middle and trying to get ahead rather than giving up the walks. It's one start. No one include Pearson is going to argue that his stuff was bad today. It all starts with fastball command.
  17. He needs to trust his stuff. His command was off, just set your sights over the middle of the plate and attack. Good learning experience. He needs to go through mental ups and downs. Pearson just needs to pitch. I look forward to his next start. As far as the Manoah vs Pearson thing. I hope Manoah is better than Pearson, because Pearson is going to be very good. It's not like we only have room for one or the other. There's room for both of them in this rotation.
  18. Why are they playing the infield in? It's the third inning.
