  1. 108.5 EV | 453 FT Tied for the farthest HR of spring. He's just locked in, so is half the team lol.
  2. Bo can't be stopped this spring
  3. Berrios a bit wild with control (in the Phillies game), but his sinker has great velo (95-96) and he carved up JT Realmuto in 3 pitches for a K.
  4. Looks like he's trying to get the feel for that sweeping curveball
  5. He didn't throw a change to Suwinski (all Sliders + 1 fastball I think). He did throw 2 change to Andujar and Hedges. Looks like change primarily to righties, slider primarily to lefties.
  6. KK + Varsho just drastically boosted our baserunning metric in the 2023 stolen base meta, that's super cool.
  7. Alonso, McNeil, Lindor, Correa... what an infield
  8. Wonder if Springer moves to left instead of right to account for his throwing arm
  9. If we can platoon Lourdes, can have a strong af defensive OF with Springer/KK/[whoever we get from a trade with DBacks, hopefully]
  10. Apparently Sox were refusing to budge from 200M, Preller just swoops in with 280 lol
  11. like these contracts are insane and you wonder what Ohtani or Soto are going to command (can the Padres even afford Soto after all this, in 2y time)
  12. wow, 11 yr (41 yrs when he's done) with a no trade clause. what in the f*** preller.
  13. https://stlpinchhits.com/cardinals/big-catch-cardinals-record-offer-lures-former-cub-willson-contreras-to-new-home/article_d1a726c4-7611-5769-9505-b8c18a813b7e.html#tracking-source=home-top-story The Athletics sought a return of outfielder Lars Nootbaar, Gold Glove-winner Brendan Donovan, and a power young pitcher like Gordon Graceffo in exchange for Murphy and three years of control, according to a source with knowledge of the talks. The Cardinals received a lot of interest in Nootbaar. He was also coveted by Toronto in talks about a trade for catcher Danny Jansen. The Cardinals and Toronto also discussed deals centered around a closer, with some discussion of Ryan Helsley, a source described. The Cardinals have little interest in trading Nootbaar, who Marmol called an “everyday outfielder” entering 2023 and was among the league-leaders in walk rate, on-base percentage, and runs created in the second half of the season. When a late round of talks with Oakland flagged because the asking price didn’t appear likely to shift, the Cardinals pivoted to Contreras and their feel for the offer he coveted.
  14. Oakland ask for Murphy was Lars Nootbaar, Brendan Donovan, and Gordon Graceffo. Jansen talks were centered around Helsley or Nootbaar. So Nootbaar might've been off the table and no deal done without him; they went for Contreras
  15. Masataka Yoshida's deal with the Boston Red Sox is for $90 million. With a posting fee of $15.4 million, the total cost of the five-year deal will be $105.4 million.
  16. Crazy to think Gausman and Berrios signings are now in retrospect, simply a steal.
  17. Oh, didn't know we were only allowed to post things people did not know. I'll go sleuth around and get back to you on that.
  18. I personally don't care who gets traded. At the end of the day, Kirk has the most value - control + proven at MLB stage - if you want someone big/substantial/relevant for the future, this is who will get the job done. Jansen would not net much, 2 yrs of control (~10M), history of injury, pure pull-hitter - you'd have to trade him to a contender like Astros/Guardians/Giants, maybe Mets (but I presume they'll give Alvarez a full year) and the return won't be much at all at MLB level (maybe a blue chip prospect). Astros would be the best to get that done with Vazquez out, but what are you going to get really - they aren't giving up any of their elite bullpen (had to get the trade done before Brown was promoted, but they didn't want to move him then as he was one of the hotter hitters we had) or starting (considering JV prolly won't sign with Houston since he's looking for a Scherzer contract). Maybe Barber? But he isn't MLB ready for a year or two. Moreno, on the other hand, untested. So he would be someone who wants to contend soon and want to let go of contracts that expire before their contention window. This is super limited wrt OF (LHB) or SP. Maybe Marlins (Lopez) or Pirates (Reynolds)? But even then, it'd be a hard sell. Also consider that bigger bases and pitch clock = more steal game, means we need someone who can throw people out, who by all scouts' standards, Moreno is best. And dude is fast, so can also steal/not get into double plays. --- Jansen brings game-calling (of the 3 catchers, pitchers are most comfortable with him barring Manoah, considering their ERA/FIP over the season has been lower by 1 or more with him catching than Kirk/Moreno). Kirk brings framing (can't undersell it obviously when you have pitchers that feast at the lower strikezone, but this might only matter for a year or two with challenge system and possibility of robo umps) Moreno brings the pressure of throwing runners out, so perhaps less run game against him. TL;DR if you want someone good, Kirk is on the block. If you want fodder, trade one of the other two. Its not about trading Kirk cause of some bias against him, its more that he is the best candidate for a trade that could fill a gap we have with someone legit, versus dumpster diving.
  19. If only Terminator was AZ's GM, he'd trade Carrol and throw in Galen for Kirk.
  20. Still say we trade not sign (if we want a long-term option) or do what we did in 2021 - sign a 1-yr deal for someone looking to prove themselves (Bellinger) Nimmo is just not a good fit imo - history of injuries when we already have two people that need to be rotated into DH is kinda eh + wants a good lucrative deal (we have a lot of money in contracts as is and have to figure out what to do with 3B next year + vlad/bo contracts) We def need a 3rd starter - can't have a backend of 3 wildcards in Berrios/White/Kikuchi. Can only shuttle 2 of those at a time (whoever's hot), money should go here (I haven't heard any murmurs of trading for a C for a P yet aside from Lopez from Marlins who will want Kirk) - Senga/Rodon (problem with Senga is I don't think he has been stretched out to be a regular 5-day 7+inning starter) Or take a 1-yr flier here too - Syndegaard, Manaea, Clevinger We also prolly need another bp arm - Heaney with his nice 13.62 K/9 (though maybe this can be a trade deadline thing - see if Pearson can stay healthy first) If we clear up Kirk through trade, can also get someone like Josh Bell/Michael Brantley as lefty DHs (Who can play 1B/OF respectively when Vlad/Springer need to DH respectively)
  21. - Angels getting Gio Urshela for a class A pitcher - IKF/Yankees are in agreement for 1 yr 6M deal
  22. he isn't eligible until end of next year.
  23. Another major trade might not happen (at least from our end) until a few free agents get signed I'd think. We basically need a CF/OF spot filled and a starting pitching spot filled and we have the money we saved from Teo/Tapia/Zimmer to spend on one, trade a catcher for the other. Would be tough to trade the catcher for one of them just to see the FA market for the other dried up. My wish is obviously Senga + trade catcher for OF (Carrol/Varsho/Nootbar/w.e), but might have to sign Yoshida/Nimmo and trade catcher for pitcher (Pablo Lopez???) Lowkey, no to Nimmo. Really don't need two OFs made out of glass out there. --- I do wonder if Gurriel is going to be traded as well Thoughts on Joey Gallo? Dude plays defense, shift changes will help him a lot.
  24. I'm pretty annoyed this didn't happen. Fire Atkins.
