  1. And he hit .344 this year!
  2. Hopefully the Alford fans are thoroughly entertained tonight.
  3. A couple weeks ago Keith Law said Biggio wasn't worth a major league roster spot.
  4. Zeuch just doesn't look like a major league starter at all.
  5. Me too Spanky, what's up?
  6. I was thinking that was a fun moment when Manoah and his mom realized that Alek was being shown on the tv. Then the Sportsnet production decided to hold the camera on them for about 35 minutes straight and make it super awkward.

    NHL Thread

I think I'm going to watch more hockey this year. As a kid I used to play hockey and follow the NHL. Then I found baseball and basketball and most of my sports watching went to them. But maybe I'll start watching some hockey again this year. To me the Leafs look better than last year so they could be pretty fun this season. Call me a bandwagon fan and you'd be right. GO LEAVES GO
  8. And according to the Fangraphs framing numbers, Zaun was pretty good in that area. They only go back to 2008 though, so if you assume he had similar skills in his younger years, he put up a lot more value than his current WAR total. In the ~1500 innings where his framing was measured by Fangraphs he was worth +38 runs. Just to put a playing time frame of reference to that inning amount, Danny Jansen has caught 793 innings this year.
  9. The Blue Jays were 7-1 against the Royals this year so they own the tiebreaker. They'll have to be a game worse than KC.
  10. That was a genuinely nice piece of baseball broadcasting by Buck and Pat when they showed the Cal Ripken clip and they were discussing it. The broadcast producers need to do more of that. When they are telling old stories and showing their baseball experiences it's actually entertaining. More segments like that which focus on baseball as a whole. Instead we cut to Hazel Mae every other inning and she reports on what Luis Rivera said about Billy McKinney's improvements on the basepaths this year. Who gives a s***.
  11. Alford is a fun player to dream on. Tracks the ball well in the outfield, strong build, some power and speed. I'm not saying he doesn't suck but I understand why people want to overrate him.
  12. Otto Lopez with a 130 wRC+ in A ball as a 20 year-old. He's really been turning it on lately. Might be a guy.
  13. Reminder that taking a month+ for a trade to be resolved to the public is a dumn practice.
  14. Fangraphs added park factors to its pitch framing numbers. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/pitch-framing-park-factors/ They seem crazy high and I wonder if some of the commenters in the article are correct and maybe they're a function of slight differences in the instruments that measure the pitch location.
  15. With the Vlad weight watching I thought I'd make a pointless poll
  16. All Manfred needs to do to fix pace of play is to ban Vogelbach. Good lord he takes a lot of time between pitches.
  17. Is the Sportsnet feed all pixelated for anyone else? It just seems to be the outfield camera pointed at home plate that is having the problem so I don't think it's on my end.
  18. I'd never noticed before how wonky the HR/FB rates can be the lower minors. SWR has a 0.03 differential from his FIP to xFIP but has a 6.3% HR/FB In A ball with the Mets he had a 2.52 FIP and 2.27 xFIP on a 11.6% HR/FB. It stands to reason that less fly balls would become homers at that level but I didn't realize how large the difference was. The Florida State League average must be around 6.4% but it's 15.3% in the majors this year. btw does anyone know where you can find league-wide numbers like this for the minor leagues. Fangraphs has the league aggregator for the major league leaderboards but not the minor league ones. At least as far as I can tell.
  19. Simeon Woods Richardson dominating right now. 5IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 5K
  20. I don't understand this one. Just let him sit a couple times a week for another month and a half and trade him in the offseason.
  21. Maybe Dante shared some of his chemistry with Bo.
  22. I wonder will Manoah touch any top 100 lists this offseason?
  23. Yeah but if working itself out means people move and lose position value then that's not good.
  24. The defence is a legitimate concern. Vlad is fat and gives up a single to his left Bo boxes one and Vlad was too slow to get to the bag for a double play anyways Gurriel runs through the CF's call and makes him miss
  25. I wonder if Josh Palacios gets a look in September? 24 years old now but a 130 wRC+ in AA. Maybe he has a chance to be a 4th OF if his defence plays at the big league level.
