    Mayza looking sharp already. I really liked what I saw from him last year, I am hoping he can have a good month or two and take over as the #1 lefty. Maybe even the primary set up guy depending on how Tepera turns out

    They were profitable because they signed a TV deal which gave them a truck load of money under the impression that they would actually try to win and draw fans/viewers. If teams keep s***ing the bed on purpose for years at a time it will be hard to convince networks to hand out the same amount of money in the future

    Every "indigenous" (that's the PC term now, right?) person i've spoken to loves that there is a team named the Indians with a logo of an indian. At least here in SK, they all call themselves Indian and are super proud of their heritage. It doesn't come across as racist at all, at least to the people I've spoken to. I am pretty sure the outrage is literally all from SJW white people

    She also is the one who worked with Stroman at Duke in 2015 to get his knee back in shape in record time. Seems like a good choice for the job.

    If Rogers is thinking of selling the team, it stands to reason they probably don't have any interest in taking a huge hit for 2 or 3 years so the team can be good again later. They want the best possible results now to keep the value of the team up. I figure we don't see any sort of rebuilding until Rogers either sells the team or commits to keeping it for another 5-10 years

    Hmm, I kinda like Lieutenant Rowly. Age vs level for him is kinda screwed up because he missed so much development time.

    “We have to be prepared if Devon (Travis) is not ready to give us 600 plate appearances. If (Troy) Tulowitzki’s not able to give us 150 games, we have to be prepared to offset that. I think the best way to do that is to find someone that has the versatility that could also go to the outfield when we do have a completely healthy infield.” Could this mean the end of the Ryan Goins era? At the very least I hope it means we wont see him get 450 plate appearances again next year

    Roy's starts were the highlight of my week. I would look forward to them and make sure I didnt miss the game. I can't believe he died. Sad day

    seems like he has at least some upside. Former top 100 prospect with an injury history that may have prevented him from living up to his potential. Unfortunately his last full year was pretty bad with only 5.5k/9 in AA so probably not much to get excited about here. Maybe he turns out better than Tom Koehler for us, that would be nice.

    I always loved him and hoped he could become an ace for us. I remember watching him in Seattle and liking him then when we traded Brandon League for him I was super stoked. We clearly had to decline his option, but I am surprised he wasn't brought back on a cheaper deal.

    I for one would be happy to have him back next year. I was happy to see him go as well, but the trash we ended up running out there was so much worse. Bring him back and give him the 5th starter spot. Let Biagini start in AAA, or else just put him in the Bullpen where I think his stuff plays up better.

    Apparently both are issues. Most of the scouting reports I've read project him to move off of SS to 2nd or 3rd base and also figure his swing will get exposed against good pitching. The big jump from A to AA pitching as well as the huge jump from AA to MLB pitching will each be a big test - so he really has a lot to prove in the upper levels still before scouts will admit his swing works. If both Vlad and Bo prove they can remain on the left side of the infield that would be huge for the Jays. Those bats play anywhere but its so much more valuable to have a player who can actually play good defense at an important position.

    Darwin Barney put it the best when they asked him about it a week ago after they got swept at Wrigley. He said something like: "all year we've been in a position where we have to win 5 or 6 in a row and we will be right back in it. Now we are in a position where we need to win 8 or 9 in a row. But we are still going to go out every day and try to do that" The players aren't stupid. It's not hard to look up the standings. But it's not over til its over and crazier comebacks have happened. It's easy for fans to just give up and do something else but you can't blame the players for clinging on to whatever hope may remain so that they don't feel like they are working their asses off for nothing.

    They were just 3 games out 2 weeks ago and months into the season projections had them above 50% chance to make the post season. Just because you have a s***** negative attitude doesn't mean the players or anyone else has to.
