  1. https://www.si.com/mlb/mets/news/mets-free-agent-jose-quintana-predicted-to-sign-with-al-central-team-logan9 This was from yesterday.
  2. He definitely fits the MO of this front office when it comes to targeting rotation arms. Pretty much he's a left handed version of Bassitt haha. On a one-year deal around $10-12M AAV, I'm okay with that as it lengthens the rotation and allows the Jays to use Y-Rod in the bullpen. Quintana can give the Jays around 170-180 innings and likely is closer to being a 2-3 WAR arm in comparison to Fangraphs WAR.
  3. Seriously Atkins. Take Santander for a night on the town to the Brass Rail, offer him unlimited lap dances that night, order bottle service and I'm sure he'll sign on the dotted line afterwards!
  4. Yeah especially in 2021 and before the trade deadline. Even in 2022 and 2023, I kind of wish Atkins did a bit more to upgrade the roster in order to give them a better chance in the Postseason. Especially the 2023 team, which needed some power badly and which was evident all the way from April. You need to take advantage of windows when you have them. They don't last that long. Like seriously, 2021 doesn't seem like long ago, but when looking at the roster now, we look like we're so far away from getting to that point again.
  5. Even though they lost Acuna to a season ACL injury, at least the Braves went out and did something. Guys like Soler, Rosario and Pederson were having down years, which made them easier to acquire. Like you said they had track records of being successful before. Adding them to the mix was better than just keeping the status quo, which is likely what this Jays front office would have done in that situation. The NL East that season was pretty weak and the Braves despite sitting at 44-45 were only 4.5GB behind the first place Mets. AA definitely made a calculated gamble, and it paid off. The 2021 Braves team was still pretty solid offensively: Riley: 5.1 WAR Freeman: 4.7 WAR Albies: 3.7 WAR Swanson: 3.3 WAR Add in bats like Soler, Rosario, Duvall and Pederson, definitely helped with the loss of Acuna. On the pitching side, the Braves didn't look as good actually. Morton and Fried were their two top arms, along with Ian Anderson, Huascar Ynoa and Drew Smyly. Wasn't as strong of a rotation as we saw from them in 2022 and 2023. Bullpen wise, they had some solid years from Minter, Matzek and Luke Jackson. Will Smith, off the top of my head, I think was dominant in the Postseason I recall. Regardless, I would rather have a front office that is proactive. I don't think you should discredit AA at all during the 2021 season.
  6. I would roll the dice on Moncada if he doesn't cost that much. Moves Clement to a super utility role and worst case if Moncada doesn't work out, Clement takes over.
  7. I mean, I love the idea and those moves but they're highly unlikely and not realistic. Like it's nowhere near close to happening. This isn't a video game. No way the Mets move Vientos who already has established himself as one of the more intriguing young power hitters in the game for one-year of Vladdy + an expensive extension. I could see a Roberts trade happening but who knows if the Jays have enough or are even interested. I don't see how this team has enough money to spend on Santander along with pitching.
  8. I'm shocked you don't own Yoan Moncada in any of our leagues haha.
  9. Me and Spanky usually bet $20 when we have an in-season matchup haha.
  10. These dynasty leagues have been going strong for over a decade now, which is quite remarkable but speaks volumes of all the members who have taken part! We're definitely very fortunate to be apart of leagues that are so active and engaging. A lot of guys would pay an arm and a leg to join these leagues if they could.
  11. Yeah read about that as well. Might be able to try him out of the rotation at first and if it doesn't work out, just put him back in relief. If you can sign him for $10-12M AAV over 3-4 years, and turns out to be a decent starter, not bad at all.
  12. Mayza was non-tendered so he's available haha.
  13. Brooks Raley wouldn't be a bad target for a bounce back if he's healthy. Seasons of 0.8, 1.0 and 0.7 WAR from 2021-2023 and a career 10.23 K/9.
  14. Damn we have 3 teams open in BORED. That's a lot!
  15. Yeah out of all the names BTS posted, I said maybe Morton could be a possibility given his age, price tag and only requiring a one-year deal. The Jays have no chance at signing any of the other guys mentioned, so they'll either likely have to trade for an arm (Montgomery or Matz) or sign another vet to a one-year deal like Jose Quintana, or Martin Perez or Cal Quantrill. Ideally, Flaherty would be a perfect fit here. Since the O's signed Morton, that means one less suitor for Flaherty, hopefully.
  16. Tweet translated: "Two teams have emerged as suitors: Detroit and Boston."
  17. Mark Shapiro is getting jealous.
  18. Didn't you want the Jays to sign Charlie Morton? lol. I know the Orioles need to aim higher than Morton, but he's still a solid signing at that price. Hopefully that takes them out as suitors for Flaherty.
  19. Your fantasy team would like that haha.
