    They should just sign Yasmani Grandal and keep Max Stassi as a backup. I wouldn't trade Kyle Tucker for two years of J.T. Realmuto, who is going to be expensive anyways through arbitration.

    Escobar is a FA just checked. Would have been the worst 1 + 2 lineup combo in history lol. Royals with Hamilton, Mondesi and Merrifield will steal a lot of bases. It's too bad Hamilton and Mondesi both suck at getting on-base.

    Linus Ullmark was added to JG34's roster on Nov 28th and then he dropped him, making him eligible to be picked up. Took a screenshot as well. So according to the rules, my pickup is valid.

    Same here. The chances of Tulo ever staying healthy over 130-140 games and contributing a 2 WAR season again likely will never happen. I do think if he's healthy and has a solid spring training where he has done enough to earn a roster spot, you have to give him a shot for the month of April, albeit with a very short leash.

    If Tulo can come out of the gate healthy and be successful, another team might be willing to roll the dice on him. It looked like Ryan Zimmerman was done a couple of years ago, but had a huge 2017 season and was still relatively decent in 2018 when he was on the field. If Tulo has a productive 2019 season with the bat, you could move him to first base or DH in 2020, with Smoak and Morales both gone. Next year his contract isn't that absurd if he returns to his 2015/2016 form - at $14M. If he's stubborn and won't move to 1B or become the everyday DH, he'll likely retire and that would free the Jays from his contract.

    If Goldy had 2+ years left, it's an awful return. With only 1 year left, his age and the chance of re-signing him very unlikely, I don't think Arizona did that bad. Not crazy about the return as well, but I think its decent. Likely don't get this type of deal at the July trade deadline.

    As a D'Backs fan, I would be pissed as well. If Arizona were serious, they should have already re-signed him to a contract extension last year.

    Combined WAR between Carson Kelly and Luke Weaver could possibly could match Goldy (if we have Goldy at around 5 WAR next season). I don't think Goldy is a 6-7+ WAR player anymore. Alongside, Kelly and Weaver are under club control and are at a cheap price for the next several years, whereas the D'Backs likely weren't going to re-sign Goldy to begin with. I like the deal for both sides to be honest. The Cards are in a position to win now, and still have a solid farm system even after this trade. They could afford trading those pieces for one year of Goldy. For Arizona, they get two young MLB ready pieces under club control and at a cheap price. Both aren't anything special (Weaver more of a mid-rotation type starter at best; Kelly has upside to be a Top-10 catcher in baseball). Arizona probably could also sign a cheap 1B this offseason or trade for one (e.g. Justin Smoak) and still be somewhat decent.

    I think if they they were serious about keeping Goldy around and/or if Goldy wanted to stay, he would have been signed to an extension already. Considering it's only 1 year for Goldy, I don't think they did that bad. They got some controllable and cheap assets that are ready to contribute at the MLB level. Look at the JD situation this past season. Blue Jays pretty much got nothing for him after holding onto him for most of the 2018 season. I think we're seeing that players with only one year of control left aren't going to get the type of elite talent via trade.
