  1. He needs to get on first first before he gets to third haha.
  2. Agreed. Tough letting go of Castillo in this deal. He definitely is an arm who could help the Jays and make 3 to 4 starts in the rotation if somebody went on the IL.
  3. I was watching one of the Dodgers games last week and was watching White pitch. He didn't look too bad and I did like his stuff. Definitely think he'll make a solid No. 4 or 5 starter and has team control which is a nice thing. Again, he's nothing flashy but in 15 games, 10 starts, has pitched 56 innings with a 3.70 ERA and 4.23 xFIP with a 0.7 WAR. Syndergaard on the other hand in 15 starts has a 3.83 ERA, 4.27 xFIP and a 1.2 WAR. So given contract, stats and even team control, White is a much valuable asset IMO. At least if a Jays starter goes down on the IL, White could hold his own in the rotation and give you a chance every 5th day.
  4. Wouldn't have got to the Postseason for the first time since 1993 if it weren't for David Price. And are the Blue Jays really missing anyone from the Price deal? Only Boyd turned out to be something decent.
  5. Mets getting Givens from the Cubs.
  6. I like Mitch White. Nice depth guy who could make a couple of starts if someone goes down.
  7. Yup. I like the Bass and Pop trade, though think the Jays could have done more. Like I said before, would suck if the Jays missed the Postseason again by one game because they lost Gausman, Manoah or Berrios for 2 or 3 starts, or because of another blown lead or because one of their big bats miss two-three weeks which requires Tapia/Zimmer or Collins getting regular ABs.
  8. I like what the Twins have done. Adding Mahle, Jorge Lopez, Sandy Leon and now Fulmer. Nothing flashy by any means, but definitely solid additions to fill out the rotation and bullpen. And the funny thing is, the Twins don't even have the core Toronto has in place and are more banged up, yet these are the type of moves a team with Postseason aspirations should be making.
  9. Not really crazy about Lopez.
  10. Yeah Rodon would definitely be a game changer as a frontline starter in the Postseason. The opt-out and his injury track record do scare me as well, though if it lessens his cost, he's a guy to go in on. We'll see if the Giants trade Rodon, Cobb or Joc Pederson. I think they need to trade Rodon. Get a nice package of prospects for him, then sign him back in the offseason haha.
  11. Stripling and Castillo are nice swingmen to have on a roster as SP insurance. Look at teams like the Dodgers who built up solid SP depth. The Jays won't at least sink if they need to call upon Stripling or Castillo for 2 or 3 starts if someone misses time. Even look at the Mariners who got both Castillo and traded for Matt Boyd.
  12. I've been saying this all day! Lack of SP options if there is an injury would definitely tank the Jays chances. Doesn't hurt going after another arm if it's a reasonable cost. I would though pay a high price (not a ridiculous deal obviously) for Carlos Rodon or Alex Cobb if they can be available.
  13. If he plays everyday, will definitely help my LOD team.
  14. Literally haha.
  15. It's okay, I believe Michael Marino!
  16. Shocked the Cubs haven't traded Contreras yet.
  17. Bring Thor home!
  18. Jose Suarez or someone else.
  19. Edit: And Ohtani!
  20. Last hour should be fun. I still think some big moves will be made and I don't think the Jays are completely done.
  21. Again, where did I say everything can be fixed at a trade deadline? There is nothing wrong with this Blue Jays core when they're all clicking and healthy. You're not adding another big superstar or an elite ace SP to the rotation at the trade deadline. They addressed the bullpen today with Bass and Pop which was nice. Another SP would have been nice for depth purposes, but lets hope guys like Stripling and Kikuchi can stick as the No. 4 and 5. If the Jays lose one of their top three arms like Gasuman, Manoah or Berrios for a significant time or even just 2 or 3 starts, that will bite them. As well, hope Springer plays everyday down the stretch and they don't lose anyone else to a major injury or else you're looking at more ABs for Tapia and Zimmer! So yeah kind of nice to have some assurances and depth, which most World Series contenders have.
  22. Where did I suggest they make a stupendously big move? It would be a shame if they missed out on the Postseason by one game again because they failed to address some weak areas on their roster during the offseason and at the trade deadline.
  23. Since April of this season haha.
  24. I never said the FO should fix everything at one trade deadline. I still think this is a solid team when things go right and click, though the Blue Jays still need to get to the Postseason. If they miss out on making the Postseason, what do you think happens? This team was considered one of the World Series favourites before the season started and they don't even make the Postseason? Would be a huge disappointment. One of the weaknesses of this team heading into the season was lack of depth and lack of high K% relievers. The Blue Jays are still 57-44 with most of their current stars underperforming and some stars being injured on and off, like Guerrero, Bo, Lourdes (lack of power), Springer and some others. On paper, this is probably the best core the Blue Jays have had since 92/93. Doesn't hurt adding or upgrading the roster if possible to give them a better chance down the stretch and if they make the Postseason. They did a nice job adding Bass and Pop for the bullpen. Adding another starter really wouldn't hurt in case there is an injury to one of the Jays top three. Another BP arm wouldn't hurt as well. As well, another factor we have to consider is the border restrictions, which might have limited the Jays from targeting certain players or arms discussed on this board.
  25. Before the All Star break and before this hot streak, most posters on here said the Blue Jays needed to make 4 or 5 upgrades haha. Today though, the team is fine as is.
