    NHL Thread

Leafs going to win the Cup! Worth spending $500 to sit in the nosebleeds tonight!!!
  2. Andrew B is a better sign than Brandon Nimmo at over $100M.
  3. The end goal is to win a World Series. Yes the Jays had a solid season, though no player or fan should be jumping for joy the way the season went overall.
  4. Why do you assume that? He's only 27 years old and only played in 96 games last season because he wasn't 100%. It's not like he's in his 30's and his last good season was 4-5 years ago.
  5. Did Randal Grichuk ever put together a 5+ WAR season at the age of 25?
  6. I stated that the Cards would probably expect Kirk back in a deal if they dealt Nootbar because of the control. Could be wrong but we'll see. Don't think they would take two years of Jansen for 5 years of Nootbar.
  7. You idiot. His career year was in 2021, only one season ago lmao and he's only 27. If O'Neill had a 5 WAR season in 2022, he wouldn't even be available for Jansen. You're buying low on O'Neill!
  8. You must really love Canadian ballplayers!
  9. Jansen for Tyler O'Neill would be great and a very solid replacement for Teo. Very fair swap for both teams IMO. Under control for two more seasons and can even be better than Teo (5-6 WAR potential as we've seen). Plus in his second arbitration year and with the season he had, he won't take up as much payroll as Teo would obviously.
  10. According to MLB the Show, Jays could have got way more for Teo than just Swanson and Macko.
  11. If Swanson posts 1.5-2 WAR seasons for the next three years sure. We know relievers are volatile though. If he flames out and doesn't provide any value, you're pretty much relying on Macko to provide something. Also, don't forget if Teo goes out and has a monster season like he did in 2021, Mariners offer him a QO. If he accepts, they get him for another season for around $18-20M. From a roster control and payroll perspective, I like the move. Jays need to follow up bringing another solid OF on board which I think they will. As well, got to hope Swanson can be a valuable late inning arm for this club and a difference maker down in the BP.
  12. It's kind of annoying that everyone now is going to be using Baseball Trade Values to assess a trade.
  13. At first glance looks like a light return for Teo, though Jays need to follow up this move with another OF signing or trade which they most likely will. Even during what was considered a down year for Teo, he still posted a 2.4 WAR and the hope was in his contract year he would have put up big numbers and put up a 4-5 WAR season. If he does that with Seattle, hurts the Jays in the short term. Seattle likely will offer Teo a QO if he has a good 2023 season as well. Long term, from a cost and control standpoint, the Jays get Swanson for 3 years at a very respectable cost rather than spending $30-40 million on a middle reliever during free agency. Swanson posted a 1.7 WAR last season and was an elite high K bullpen arm. If he continues to build on his 2022 season, he for sure will help the Jays. Only concern is we know relievers are volatile. Macko seems like a high upside arm who could start or worst case end up in the bullpen. 6 years of control is nice as well. If Teo hits like he did in 2022, then nothing to cry over about losing him. If Swanson can repeat his 2022 season and have a 1.5-2 WAR season, based on salary + control of him and Macko, win for the Jays. If Swanson shits the bed, gets injured and Macko is just a minor league guy who never does anything in the bigs, then Mariners who are contending probably come out on top in the short term. Should be easy to replace Teo with a FA signing or trade. Jays should be able to target a 3-4 WAR outfielder or better. As well, I think the way Teo presented himself at times this season, maybe moving him wasn't a bad idea after all given if they want to change the clubhouse culture a bit.
  14. I'm more worried about the Orioles moving forward than the Yankees. Also, never count out the Rays and we all know Boston overnight can go for a last place team in the division to first place if they spend money to overhaul the roster.
  15. Shocked Tyler Anderson with a QO attached got a 3-year/$40 million deal this early but hey its the Angels. Not shocked to see Perez and Pederson accept. If they go out and have solid seasons in 2023, with no strings attached, they both can likely get 2-3 year deals after from a team.

Haha he had an amazing game! Great to see him step up like that. Bucks screwed me last night though.

Raptors were still big favourites as well. Put them in a parlay last night and as I was watching the game was like shoot they're missing Siakam, Fred, Precious, Trent Jr. haha got worried. Glad they were able to pull out a win last night.

    NFL Thread

Luke Wilson on TSN was right on the Bills from Day One, and the game yesterday further proved his point. Even during their wins this season, they have played sloppy and really never played a full solid 60 minutes of football. This team has brain lapses either in the third or fourth quarter. The Bills easily could be 9-0. They could and should have beat the Dolphins, Jets and Vikings. Also, in their wins, some of their games shouldn't have been that close as they were. Like even against the Packers, they gave Green Bay life in the second half and made it closer than it should have been. The plus is we're heading into Week 11, so for the Bills this is the best time for this to happen. Clean up their football and work on some of the fundamentals before the Playoffs. The Bills are still IMO the most talented team in the NFL all around. They need to clean up their football down the stretch or else they're getting pounced early in the Playoffs. Plus Home Field Advantage throughout is vital so it's important they don't lose anymore regular season games. Only way the Bills lose in the Playoffs is if they beat themselves, which is what they've done in all of their losses.
  19. Would rather sign an arm like Kimbrel or Jansen to a 1-year contract worth $10-12M which is what the estimates are rather than 3 years on Montero at 34M.
  20. I think the Padres and Astros really outbid themselves. I don't see any other team offering Suarez and Montero those types of contracts. Mets went all in with Diaz, and I while wouldn't be comfortable signing him to that type of contract, though he's on a different level at least than those two.
  21. Such an awful deal. The dude posted a 6.49 ERA in 2021 and every season other than 2019 and 2022, had an ERA above 4. Really think the Astros overbid themselves. He's not worth $11M+ per season especially with his shaky track record. I guess those 14 saves helped jack up his price.
  22. I don't expect Manoah to have another season with an ERA in the low 2's or under 3 for that matter. His ERA is likely more between 3.50-4 next season. 4.11 ERA isn't that crazy of a projection. I expect Berrios to cut down his ERA and return to the high 3's/low 4's. Dodgers pitchers aren't really anything special. They don't have a true elite SP other than Urias and even still he's outperformed his ERA thus far. May is likely their best arm next season. I would buy low on Corbin.
  23. All for this. Heaney reminds me a lot like the Jays going after Happ during the 2015/2016 offseason.
  24. Nah, a lot better value on the market IMO.
  25. Stripling at 2 years/$18 million or even 3 isn't too bad. Total would be $27M. Half the cost of Bassitt. I don't mind the Jays signing Thor on a reasonable 1-year deal to be the No. 5 starter. Gives the Jays some rotation depth at least.. Benitendi or Brantley would be a nice fit in this lineup. I wouldn't go more than 4 years on Benitendi. Brantley on a one year deal for around $12-15M is actually not that bad at all. No long term commitment. Not a fan of Clevinger anymore as well. Probably could sign Thor for less. Montero and Estevez aren't going to drastically improve the pen. Go after Rogers and that's all you need. Jays have enough arms like Montero and Estevez. They need to sign a difference maker.
