  1. What would it take to get Paul Goldschmidt? He's a free agent after 2024 and making $26M next season. Cards aren't making the Postseason this year. His bat would be perfect, though position wise would be tough with Vlad at 1B, unless you split both of them between 1B and DH, though sure both wouldn't be too pleased. Regardless, adding a bat like Goldy would definitely improve this lineup! Arenado would be a great target in the offseason, though doubt Cards trade him after signing him to that extension.
  2. Luis Robert quietly putting together an excellent season - .276/.337/.575 with 24 HR, 46 RBI and 8 SB. His 3.8 WAR is third best in all of baseball behind Ohtani and Acuna.
  3. Vladdy for Jesus Luzardo. Would be an interesting trade idea.
  4. Yeah not saying bench guys like Vladdy, Kirk or Varsho. You gotta hope at least one of those guys get out of their funks. Maybe Kirk sees only playing time behind the plate instead of at DH if the Jays bring in a power RHB. Adding another RH power bat who could play in the OF and DH wouldn't be a bad thing at all IMO. Might help the lineup overall if you can add another solid bat and might help with the RISP issues. Another high leverage bullpen arm would help IMO, along with getting Green back at some point. Would rather add a high leverage bullpen arm if possible instead of a starter.
  5. Yeah that was a huge blow. That 2021 team looked like they could have went on a deep run in the Postseason. The FO did a poor job in addressing the bullpen that season and threw games away with guys like Brad Hand instead of going after better arms.
  6. I've never seen so many people heated over a Blue Jays trade like this before. Seriously, Moreno and Varsho get mentioned like everyday almost. Or things like "we should have traded Kirk instead."
  7. Yeah pretty much the decision will be based on how the Jays play this month. So far on what is considered the easy part of the schedule, the team is 7-8. Lets hope they show signs of turning things around. These next two-three weeks will be crucial in deciding whether the FO adds or sells at the deadline.
  8. Right now this team is a fringe playoff contender. They need to start playing better. The status quo isn't working. You can't keep relying on hoping that Vladdy, Kirk, Varsho and everyone struggling are suddenly going to heat up and be .900 OPS bats the rest of the way or hope Manoah magically comes back in July and pitches like he did in 2021 and 2022. I hope this team adds to make upgrades around the roster rather than just keeping the status quo. Can't throw away this season given the small window. Try to make upgrades without mortgaging the farm system.
  9. If that's the thinking around here, then I think the Jays need to look at moving guys on expiring contracts if they're not adding any other pieces at the deadline. What is the point of keeping the status quo and sitting on KK, Belt, Merrifield and Chapman if the Jays wave the white flag on this season?
  10. Jays should have went all in last trade deadline.
  11. Definitely would be one of the greatest personal accomplishments in a regular season. Would be fun to see it happen. It's a shame the Angels might not make the Postseason. Such an awful organization.
  12. Hopefully he doesn't make the same mistake and he trades Bo this offseason after a career year!
  13. Franco has been one of the best players in the AL this season. Very disappointing he didn't make it. Might still make it as a reserve if some players opt out or because of injury.
  14. I wish this was Bet365, I would be cashing in!
  15. He's even still available in the LOD.
  16. I think the HR derby will do him good. He hasn't hit many HRs in the first half so hopefully the Derby wakes up his power in the second half!
  17. I'm down for that! Would be a great way to end the first half!
  18. Just was saying the schedule wasn't as easy as it seemed before and I was getting so much hate for it lol. Nothing is ever easy in baseball and we can't assume the Jays are going to go on a huge run because they're all of a sudden playing teams below .500 haha. The team didn't take advantage of what was considered an easy schedule before the All Star Break. Hopefully they can do some damage against the White Sox and Tigers and end the first half on a strong note.
  19. Jays are 7-8 so far which was supposed to be the start of the easy part of the schedule. Even if they win 2 of 3 in the next two series against Chicago and Detroit, that's 11-10. Not good enough.
  20. He just needs to have sex as Buck Martinez would say.
  21. Everyone should be fired!!!! Start the rebuild. Trade Bo immediately!
  22. I bet the Jays run line today and Gausman for over 8K's! Lets go!!!!
  23. Anyone planning on driving to Detroit next weekend?
  24. They have to replace Chapman at 3B. Replace the value Belt, KK and Merrifield have provided in the lineup. 4 key bats right there. Hope that Manoah bounces back or have to replace him with a solid No. 2 starter. Hope that Vladdy can improve and return close to his 2021 form. Hope Gausman still pitches at an elite level and doesn't lose a beat. Springer needs to stay healthy and be a 3-4 WAR outfielder. Hope that Varsho can take the next step forward. Hope that Kirk can bounce back and return close to his 2022 form. As for the bullpen, which is always volatile, hope Romano still gets the job done and other guys like Swanson, Pearson and Mayza don't implode. Not trying to sound negative or anything but have to factor in a lot of things. They still likely are a Wildcard contender next season, though it will be a busy offseason which should be fun to watch and they will need to make significant improvements around the roster to take this team to the next level.
