    My two cents: - The Jays need to remove Hoffman from the closer’s role. He hasn’t looked comfortable there since last season, and he’s clearly better suited to the seventh or eighth inning. Time to move on and see what Varland can do in the ninth. - Okamoto has been brutal at third base. They can’t keep putting him out there. At this point, he should either be DH’ing or playing left field. - Move Clement back to third full-time and use Sosa/DS at second. - DS should be in the lineup over Lukes every single day. No debate. Lukes needs to be sent down.

    Yeah I don't want to be tarred and feathered by some for saying this, but geez this could be a bad signing.

    I know it's still early, but I really haven't been impressed with him so far. He looks clueless out there and has some of the worst agility I've seen at 3B. Heck, even Troy Glaus moved better.

    Yeah geez, it's ridiculous. I've never been this annoyed before at someone's fielding.

    His fielding has been awful this game and from what I've seen of him thus far. Unacceptable. Really annoying to watch this guy at the hot corner. No agility whatsoever. Looks completely lost out there.

    I like Hoffman, but I think it’s time for the Blue Jays to seriously consider taking him out of the closer’s role. The strikeout numbers are elite, but as others have said, and as we’ve now seen repeatedly, he just doesn’t look built for the ninth inning. Too often, he seems to tighten up when the pressure is highest. His track record with the Phillies as a middle reliever/setup man speaks for itself: 2023: 11.87 K/9, 2.57 FIP, 1.5 fWAR 2024: 12.08 K/9, 2.52 FIP, 2.0 fWAR That’s a sharp contrast to his time as Toronto’s closer. It feels pretty clear that the Jays would be better off moving him back into a role that fits him better and gives him the best chance to be effective.

    Is it me, or Okamoto could have got to both of those balls that went by him for a hit? I know they were hit hard, but geez, his agility and movement are both awful.

    A lot of lopsided/high scoring games yesterday damn. Pirates crushed the Nations, Yankees/Angels was a slugfest, Twins crushed the Red Sox, D'Back/Orioles also a slugfest, Cleveland crushed the Cards.

    It would’ve been nice to take two of three from the Twins at home before heading out west. The Jays have had an easy schedule to start the season. Injuries are a factor, but they still need to capitalize on this stretch. Going 2-7 combined against the Rockies, White Sox, and Twins is a missed opportunity. They can’t afford to fall too far behind early. Right now, the hope is that they can hang around .500 through the end of April. They’re lucky the Rays swept the Yankees, because no team has pulled away in the AL East just yet.

    Last season, the Jays were relatively healthy, so the hope is they can avoid having more significant injuries pile up the rest of the way. The good news is they’re expected to get some guys back over the next couple of weeks. Still, they can’t afford to be without Kirk, Yesavage, Bieber, Barger, and Springer for extended stretches - let alone lose anyone else on top of that - and expect the same results as last season, especially after the slow start.

    Last season, I booked my flights to Minny back in March for the series in June and at this time/end of April I was questioning if I wanted to go haha.

    After seeing the way Hein has played, you probably don't want him as a starter. Better to give BV the at-bats and experience. Hein is just a backup and that's it. Can't rely on him playing 4-5 times per week.

    Should be an Eloy special for points since its his first game with the Jays. Make it 3 or 4 points.

    Yeah need some pop in the lineup. Hopefully Eloy offers that against LHP.

    As for your question, it's possible. Gagne won the NL Cy Young in 2003. Last closer I could remember who won over the past two decades. Don't even think Mariano won a Cy Young. Gagne in 2003 posted a 4.7 fWAR and going a perfect 55 for 55 in saves along with a 1.20 ERA and 14.98 K/9 (137K's in 82.1 innings). You figure Miller would have to reach 50+ saves and ERA in the low 1's or below 1 and for sure 120+ K's and needs to post close to a 5 WAR season. Also, some weak competition from other NL arms like Skenes, Yamamoto, Alcantara would help go a long way.

    Day 3 of the Masters. Rory was rolling yesterday and took a comfortable lead, but still a bunch of guys who could make some noise today.

    Considering the Blue Jays just played their worst stretch of baseball and with all the injuries, the playoffs will be easy to make, especially once everyone is back healthy.
