  1. So what's your point? His wife is expecting any day now. If I were a father, I would want to be there for the birth of my son or daughter.
  2. Bryon Buxton: "Hold my beer!"
  3. NL Central should be a fun division over the next couple of years. Cubs are going to be better, Brewers should still be relevant next season, Reds are improving and have a lot of young exciting players. I think the Cardinals will bounce back somewhat depending on the type of offseason they have. Hope the Pirates could start making some noise as well in the next couple of years.
  4. Let's hope it remains terrible during the Jays series!
  5. I'm pretty rational when it comes to discussing baseball and have a solid understanding of the game, statistics, etc. However, if I criticize one thing about this front office or team, you and your brigade of FO defenders come out like cockroaches and just use the rhetoric that we're all idiots for criticizing the FO any way. You go on the attack instead of actually having discussion or debate which becomes insufferable. You're a nice guy but you're too much sometimes man!
  6. I didn't write an essay, c'mon man! Drink some coffee in the morning!
  7. I was defending Yimi Garcia yesterday and said he has been one the Blue Jays best bullpen arms this season. I was hoping Brownie19 and Max were going to "Thank" my posts.
  8. I said he was a good pitcher, but he has blown his fair share of games when he's put in a close game. I just wouldn't use him in high leverage situations. I understand if you have no choice obviously like if the bullpen is taxed etc. I know our team's staff is run by analytics and Schneider is a puppet down there. Don't agree with it. We're in September and the Jays lost several games when Garcia pitched which at the end of the day could be the difference of this team making the Postseason or not. That's frustrating.
  9. I said I wouldn't use him in high leverage spots in close games. Yesterday he was used in a 3-2 game in the 7th inning. You guys are hilarious. I love how you get so worked up about when someone criticizes Yimi Garcia. I knew you both and Max would take the bait haha. You guys are going to be defending him all day.
  10. I stated in "close games" I wouldn't use him. Yesterday he was used in a high leverage situation in the 7th inning in a 3-2 game. Would have preferred to see Berrios go another inning or use another BP arm.
  11. I would have wrote an essay.
  12. You guys love taking the bait haha. Good post. He hasn't been that bad of a reliever. Sure there is recent frustration when he blows a lead, which does get magnified given that this team has put themselves in a position where they can't afford to lose or blow games down the stretch. I wouldn't be using him in high leverage spots in close games. I think he's better as a 6th/7th inning guy. But Schneider seems to like using 4-5 relievers per game and Garcia is one of his favourites he loves going to first.
  13. Yeah I think it's an awful idea to non-tender him. Would rather try to trade him before that which they probably could do or just keep him for both years hoping he has a monster season. If he less than a WAR in 2024 again, likely would only be able to trade for peanuts so wouldn't be worth it. That's why if the Jays want to move him, probably would have to be this offseason regardless.
  14. If Vlad can turn his career similar to Sheff, would be awesome!
  15. Bravo response!
  16. Suggested by prominent posters or trolls?
  17. If the Padres know they can't re-sign Soto to an extension, they might prefer 2 years of Vladdy hoping he can put up a monster season. Again, would involve multiple pieces. Yeah FTJ is highly unlikely but I'm sure he's not untouchable as he was two years ago. I suggested Burnes or Woodruff as pieces when I was responding to another post asking about the Brewers as a trade candidate. I also stated that the Brewers weren't really exciting trade partners for Vlad and that it's better to keep Vladdy even if it was for one of those two arms. Again, I'm just throwing out trading suggestions or names off the top of my head when it comes to Vladdy. Not many other posters have. So why don't you name some names? None of the names I listed were outrageous. You're just trying to pick an argument to sound like a smart ass.
  18. I don't think anyone on here was suggesting the Jays non-tender Vlad lol.
  19. Alonso should be good for a 3-4 WAR season with 35-40 HR's. That's pretty much his ceiling and floor. Vladdy has much higher upside, though a lower floor as we've seen this season. Regardless, trading Vladdy won't be easy.
  20. Again, I don't know how those names I suggested were outrageous according to you. You're pretty much trading 2 years of Vlad for either a bat or arm with one-year of control left and who unlikely will sign extensions with their current clubs. We've seen trade value for players/pitchers diminish when a player or pitcher only has one-year left of control. Heck, look at the Jays when they had Josh Donaldson as an example. As for the Padres, they're likely looking to shake things up this offseason.
  21. Add Alex Bregman in the deal. Jays need a 3B next season!
  22. I've stated numerous times that if the Blue Jays can't trade him for a similar high upside young player or arm, it's best to keep him and hope he has a monster season in 2024 and 2025 before he becomes a FA. From discussions on this board, it seems like the Jays will be close to their payroll threshold for 2024 again, especially given the players they need to replace and players eligible for arbitration. The Jays can't really afford to pay Vlad 20M if he posts a 0.5 WAR season again. Unless they go out and could add another piece or pieces that cost $20-30M on top of their projected payroll, then yes they have the luxury of taking that gamble.
  23. I'm throwing some ideas out there to start some conversation. Haven't seen anyone else really do that thus far when talking about wanting to trade Vladdy. Also, doesn't mean it's a straight one-for-one swap. Any deal likely requires multiple pieces. Woodruff and Burnes only have one-year left of control. It's highly unlikely the Brewers re-sign them to extensions. Brewers could definitely be interested in trading one of them for two years of Vlad if they think he could bounce back. They could use another big bat. As for the Padres, they could be looking to shake things up this offseason. So I'm sure they would be more open to moving certain players. Soto is a free agent after 2024 and likely doesn't sign an extension. Doubt they move Tatis, but given his huge contract, moving off shortstop and his down season, they might listen.
