  1. Anger? I'm pouring myself a scotch and smoking a cigar to celebrate! Will take it!
  2. The team is what they are at this point in the season. Borderline Playoff team. Frustrating to watch and a lot of stupid decisions. But just get in and see what they could do with the pitching they have.
  3. Blue Jays: win in Extras and two in a row!
  4. Lets hope the Astros, Mariners and Rangers lose!
  5. The Jays got lucky they ended up winning this one. A win is a win at the end of the day. But this team needs to really clean up things. So many stupid decisions on the basepaths.
  6. TSN during their highlights today on SportsCentre said the Jays made 51 or so outs on the bases as a team which leads the AL. Crazy how bad this team is at the fundamentals of base running.
  7. Haha was ugly but a win is a win. Take it!
  8. Geez should have tagged there. C'mon Vladdy! John Schneider's face was all red when they showed him haha
  9. He probably still gets 2/20 or 1/10 as a FA right now. But yeah with the emergence of Schneider, better to save that money and spend elsewhere on the roster.
  10. Gotta hope the Mariners, Astros and/or Rangers lose tonight.
  11. Yeah Barker actually has improved greatly. Love his analysis and calls it as he sees it. Starting to like Blair and Barker a lot now. They've both done a great job!
  12. Do you actually know that to be the case? Any facts? You're making assumptions without any evidence to back it up. But yeah it's a convenient excuse for not blaming Atkins.
  13. Nice to see Vladdy homering in 3 straight games! Probably the boo's in the Rangers series lighted a fire under him! Hope Vladdy finishes the season strong. Would help the Jays in their fight for the WC most importantly, though at least heading into next season you can feel a little more confident in his abilities to bounce back.
  14. I was told a couple weeks ago by L54 that Vlad + for Soto was far fetch. Padres might value the extra year of control with Vladdy and still believe he could return to his 2021 form. Soto is leaving San Diego as a FA regardless, so they probably will be more open to moving him. Definitely one of those challenge trades. If you trade Vladdy, you want a player like Soto in return, even if it means one less year of control. If the Jays could land Soto without having to trade Vlad, even better. But doubt the Jays would have the pieces.
  15. Wonder how much Bellinger gets as a FA this offseason.
  16. You're probably the most narcissistic poster on this board. There is nothing wrong in criticizing Atkins and the FO. There is nothing wrong in criticizing AA while he was here as well. It's a baseball forum.
  17. That extension the Dodgers gave him has been worth every penny. Muncy is the type of bat the Jays could use (masher and plays 3B). Would be a perfect fit here. Varsho needs to start hitting like Muncy.
  18. I wouldn't blame the FO on Vlad's epic fail but do place some blame on their failure to address the offensive issues with this team as a whole. Could have the Blue Jays added another bat or two before or at the trade deadline? Could have Atkins and the FO done a better job at improving the teams defense without sacrificing that much offense in the lineup? It was evident by June/July, the lineup was the biggest issue. As with Vladdy, I think you just have to go into 2024 thinking he's just a 2 WAR player and not a superstar offensively. Meaning the Jays need to add another elite bat or two to pair with Bo, instead of expecting Vlad to be that guy. The great thing is we all know the upside and potential Vlad still has, so if he returns to his 2021 form, even better. I just wouldn't bank on him automatically returning to his 2021 form after two seasons of mediocre performances. So I think it's vital Atkins goes out and adds a big bat this offseason if they're serious about contending in 2024. I wouldn't be relying on Vladdy again to be that guy.
  19. Max Muncy in 2023: .209/.333/.495 with 35 HR's and 99 RBI, 122 wRC+ and 2.8 WAR
  20. Padres could be looking to shake things up this offseason given their struggles. Soto only has one year left on his contract so they can't expect to get a king's ransom for him. If Atkins is still around, I hope he makes a big splash like Soto. Got to go big in 2024 or else go home.
  21. Great to see Texas, Houston and Seattle all lose yesterday! This likely will go down to the wire.
  22. I am an Atkins supporter but occasionally will get tarred and feathered by some on here for criticizing him on certain things. His tenure here has been subpar to date, but I hope he still gets another chance at it in 2024. This season is also far from over as well, so we'll see what happens if the Jays can sneak into the Playoffs.
  23. He was healthy for the most part in 2017 playing in 131 games and posting a 5 WAR season. He did miss time earlier in the season from April to the end of May. Could have been traded at the 2017 deadline or following offseason. We obviously don't know if Rogers pressured this management group to keep a contending team on the field. It's possible after the 2015 and 2016 runs, but you're making an assumption. I don't think anyone on here was advocating Atkins should have started trading away guys before the 2017 season, but after several key injuries and aging players breaking down earlier on, they could have started moving some pieces that summer or following offseason.
  24. When it's AA, everyone brings up the Marlins and Mets trade to define his tenure here in Toronto. No different.
