  1. This thread has gotten strange. Firstly, Lind is staying. That's a no brainer. Morneau is probably going to the Orioles this week and I'd bet if he does he stays. EE and Baitista are not on the block. Top it all off, the FA pitching crop is weak and the Jays have Hutch and Drabek, along with Nolin and Stroman and McGowan (likely) stretching out in March. This club will look at McCann and Ruiz and see if Brian Roberts is available as a value buy on a 1-2 year deal but that's about it. * Beltran is already being linked to Toronto as a LF/DH. I don't see the fit but it's popular out there.
  2. JPA becoming a non-tender candidate. They can keep trying to play him into having trade value I suppose...
  3. The official scorer impacts defensive WAR. Scorers are harder on good fielders. An elite fielder is expected to make harder plays and gets scored accordingly.
  4. Thought you meant Canseco who was in town Thursday for a stag and got trashed and played underground poker all night. Oh ya, and got turned down by the Jays for a stadium pass or even free tickets. Also blown off regarding his Rogers Centre softball HR contest for charity idea. Talk about distancing yourself from a former player!
  5. I had it... Toronto Tampa Bay Baltimore Boston New York
  6. At the beginning of the year I said the following (almost Verbetim)... - IMO the Jays should win 93-96 games - If Arencibia catches more than 90 games it could all fall apart fast because he simply isn't good and could be a gigantic gaping hole that could turn first place into last - Bonifacio is so bad in the infield one can only hope that he doesn't play more than 30 innings at 2b all year. If he does, the dream could be in jeapordy - Morrow must hit 200 innings and be healthy and strong late or the playoffs won't even matter because they'd lose out quickly
  7. Most scouts say Reed Johnson, almost en masse.
  8. Players and umpires and others in the game love going to the Tampa area and want the Rays to stay. It isn't likely they do. Indy is the supposed front runner, followed by Charlotte and New Orleans. I found New Orleans to be a surprise but apparently the Super Dome is an easy configuration to baseball and the corporate community is strong. MLB figures 4 million fans/year there if it happened. Houston would try to block New Orleans btw.
  9. Appreciate your class in regard to this. I do. Thanks. Check your PM.
  10. I'd prefer u deleted your guesses so it can't be Google searched by name. You got at least 1 correct. I'm just trying to add to the forum for fans and not trying to stir any pots. Ya know.
  11. Lol no. To me it's about 11pm. My hours aren't typical.
  12. And the very first question is about where I got the info- lol. I honestly can't post that. I wouldn't pull your or anyone's chain. I can only say persons employed by MLB, not the Blue Jays but MLB. Best I can do for you.
  13. And don't bust my balls and ask for sources. I'd get freaked on if I provided them! 1. Josh Johnson- straightest fastball in MLB since he came of the DL. Almost no movement! Total tee off time flat ball. Might be a 5th starter at best if he can't fix it. 2. Arencibia- "At this point only Doumit is worse but barely. Can't see him in the Majors next year unless someone is really stupid!" 3. "Rasmus owns pitchers since he moved up in the box. One of the most dangerous hitters in baseball right now. Can't believe he's not hitting third." 4. MLB ranks Joe West, who lost 40 pounds and an ex-wife during the offseason as a top 5 umpire in 2013. Go figure but that's what their evaluations say. 5. MLB hung Angel Hernandez on the blown HR replay call this year. The replay feed was messed up and fuzzy and MLB didnt want to admit it. Hernandez being an unpopular and weaker umpire ate the heat. He was not fined. He was bonused for shutting his mouth. 6. The A's will move to San Jose. It's all back room dealing right now to get it done. 7. Future commissioner of baseball-- Joe Torre. I've got more but that's plenty for now...
  14. I can't imagine that Stroman gets added to the 40-man roster this year. He doesn't need to protected from rule 5 in the offseason and there's no need to have him use up an option when he doesn't make the club in April. Hutch may or may not get a couple of September starts, though I think that he will. Weber and Nolin are on the roster if a starter is needed. I'd just stick with them unless something crazy like another 11-game win streak occurs.
  15. Let me think... Guy loves the city and he does, ego bruised and he has one and chance to rebuild value while making around $13.8 million. Good chance he's back. Lets all keep in mind that many very good pitchers have had a dud season and bounced back. Bret Saberhagen, Cliff Lee, Roger Clemens, Tommy John, Luis Tiant, Andy Pettitte...
  16. I was kidding but I think I actually like that idea.
  17. Kawasaki for 1b coach and all is solved. They only win with him in uniform anyway.
  18. I can't count how many times the Yankees fired and hired Billy Martin.
  19. http://jaysjournal.com/prospects/international-signings/
  20. The Jays did land the top ranked international kid in 2012, along with 4 other highly touted and sought after prospects.
  21. Geronimo Berroa, Nelson Liriano, Luis Perez...
  22. Alfredo Griffin, Tony Fernandez, Damaso Garcia, Juan Guzman, Junior Felix, Carlos Delgado...
  23. Well agree to disagree. That was a nasty concussion and he was carrying an OBP above .350 at the time. Not bad for a guy who really is a platoon specialist who can't hit leftys, though has faced many. He receives better, calls a better game and can actually block a ball to his right.
