  1. Based on the salary, I expect he will be ~2.5x (4/1.5) times better than Soto. Which means if Soto has a .400 OBP, our guy will have a .1000 OBP and hit roughly 75 HR a season.
  2. Gotta love union negotiations. Here are six crazy ludicrous things we want. Look, we dropped two of them. We made huge concessions. Since, we're being so agreeable, it's only fair that you give us the other four absurd asks.
  3. Bring in Eddie Gaedel.
  4. He was a really bad pitcher, but turns out, he is an even worse human.
  5. Given the number of owners that are in both BORED and BBDL, is it possible we could combine the two leagues into a 30-teamer? We could maybe let owners keep a few players, and re-draft the rest. Interest has waned in both these leagues, and half the players don't respond to trade offers.
  6. Glad we are able to shore up that catcher position.
  7. Most of the stuff seems like small potatoes. The two big things are: Minimum/Maximum salaries: The two sides still seem pretty far apart on these. Sounds like the owners are OK adding a pretty heft minimum, but despite this the union still wants a huge boost to the maximum. They should recognize the average team spend will get a massive boost from the minimum alone and accept a smaller maximum increase. COVID They really have to address what happens to player salaries in the event that: 1) Games are cancelled: I think currently this is pro-rated. 2) Public is not allowed in, or attendance is restricted. The union should share the revenue loss in this instance, since the owners will get far less revenue. I haven't heard this mentioned at all.
  8. Catchers seem to have the most trouble adjusting in the majors. A lot of the big hyped prospects struggle when they come up. I vote for trading him. 2015 Top Prospect: Blake Swihart (18) 2016 Top Prospect: Wilson Contreras (50) 2017 Top Prospect: Carson Kelly (39) 2018 Top Prospect: Francisco Mejia (11) 2019 Top Prospect: Joey Bart (22)
  9. No, I'm not an expert. I freely admit that. The difference is I don't go on rants about how some professional's list is the worst ever.
  10. Whatever. You can't please everyone. There will always be the usual amount of histrionics. You've probably claimed a good 5 lists were the 'worst ever'. Let see your list if you're so much smarter. There's really no combination that wouldn't evoke the disdain of a ton of armchair experts that can't tell a fastball from a slider in real life.
  11. Live sports have commercial breaks built in. What exactly happens during your live-sports streams?
  12. I don't think so. Live sports is heavily in demand for advertisers. It's one of the few things, you can't illegally download or stream to avoid all of the commercials.
  13. Definitely makes my team better, and lets me make the most of Crawford's last couple of productive years.
  14. While you were bitching about the ranking, other guys were preparing trade offers.
  15. OK, because: 1) I can't seem to trade Crawford for a fair price and 2) My son hates Bichette because of his backswing; Bichette is going to be traded. Looking for two quality young-ish SP Note: price will be high as he is ranked as #5 overall dynasty player for OBP leagues according to FanTrax https://www.fantraxhq.com/obp-dynasty-rankings-fantasy-baseball/
  16. "Each player signed to a major league contract at the start of the season shall have his salary determined by multiplying his full-season salary by the number of games scheduled (not adjusting for weather-related postponements or cancellations) divided by 162, minus any advanced salary. In the event of an additional interruption or delay, the salary shall be determined by multiplying his full-season salary by the games played by the player’s club divided by 162." "So, for player salary, that’s just pure prorated pay based on the games that actually get completed. For an example, if the season were stopped after 10 Cubs games, then Anthony Rizzo’s payment for the year would be his full-season salary ($16.5 million) times 10, divided by 162 = $1.02 million. " So, while they don't have to pay the full amount if games get cancelled, they do have to pay the full amount if the games are played, but no audience is allowed. I'm surprised this isn't brought up in the CBA talks. Some teams like the Dodgers get so much TV revenue they're fine, but a lot of teams rely on the gate and they simply can not afford to pay full salaries without attendance. In that scenario, it's probably better for them to cancel the season than play to empty stadiums. You would think the players would agree to a reduction in salary based on that, but of course, they won't agree to it.
  17. If my post reads like communism, your post reads like Squid Game.
  18. The Ohio woman tried in 2017 to show police photographs of injuries to her eyes, but instead she was arrested for underage drinking, according to a police report obtained by the Post, which said the report did not indicate whether her allegations were investigated. And you wonder why women don't report crimes more often. Ridiculous.
  19. I'd probably be on the side of the player's union if they were focused on the milb players who get treated like dirt, most of which never make it to MLB and end up being 30 with no education or money. But instead, they're focused on the guys making $25 million, trying to get $30 million a year. Typical union. Pretend they're fighting for the little guy, but instead they're trying to make the real little guy pay $40 for a seat in the bleachers so that the top players can get a 5th house.
  20. This isn't really a guilt or innocence situation. There isn't much doubt as to what he did. In fact, it also seems clear that she 'asked for it', based on the text messages. So, all that's left to determine is whether she's allowed to consent to those activities. The judge's decision on the matter, doesn't really sort Bauer into a POS pile or not. You already think he is, or he isn't. The verdict shouldn't change that.
  21. Sorry, forgot to translate: I'd focus more on his pitching. This is not Garrett Cooper.
  22. Seems like the guy is already filled out, and if he's only hitting .274/.346/.421 at the college level as a firstbasemen, I'd focus more on his pitching. This is not Ohtani.
  23. We're strong at catcher already, and I think Janssen is gonna have a huge breakout this year. Would love to see Moreno traded for a similarly ranked 2B or 3B. Nolan Gorman would be perfect. The Cardinals are gonna need a new catcher soon, and Arenado is locked up at 3B.
  24. What teams would take on Bauer? Jays are way too much into virtue signalling to take the risk. You generally need a team with a rich benefactor as opposed to a corporation who has to worry about their brand. Padres don't seem to have a character requirement. Astros took on Osuna when nobody else would touch him. Yankees took on Chapman post-scandal.
