  1. "800 OPS floor" Ha ha ha. That's hysterical. So funny. Anyways, I still think Cooper is going to get back to where he was. As for Pillar, I think he's going to be a Melky Cabrera type with better defense and speed. Hit for a good average with a little bit of pop, and smart baserunning. Hopefully his power develops and he'll get better at taking walks.
  2. He's been playing a little better as of late. I can now show my face in the forums again.
  3. A cream and a lozenge to take care of a nagging injury? You don't get the highest reading in the history of testing, by taking a cream and a lozenge. He just can't stop lying. Thinks he's smarter than everyone else out there.
  4. I know there is a provision to "buy" Japanese players from their teams, or to wait until the players play X years for their teams before they can become free agents. But could an MLB team sign this kid, and have him bypass the Japanese pro-leagues entirely?
  5. Agreed. Russel Martin is another embarassment. Even playing recreational fastball, explaining to guys that you shouldn't steal bases when you're up by fifteen runs is lost on these guys. Running up the score and personal stats, and telling anyone who has a problem with it to F off, seems to be the Canadian way.
  6. LOL @ this clown show. During the seventh inning stretch, we'll see how many Red Sox pitchers can come out of a Smart Car.
  7. Maybe I missed an update, but didn't we trade him for a PTBNL. And people still think it's a good trade. So basically, we're all thrilled to be rid of him. The interesting thing is that in the big trade with Miami, AA was adamant that Bonifacio be included. It's a positive sign that AA can accept the fact that he made a mistake, and cut his losses.
  8. At this point, it makes sense to wait until September.
  9. Ryan Lavarnaway. Four passed balls in one inning! And not even catching a knuckleballer.
  10. Even though we're dead last in the AL East, and have multiple huge contracts weighing us down for the next few years, the important thing is that we've shown our zero tolerance policy towards homophobia.
  11. So, basically we're not getting a free draft pick for Johnson (even though Miami probably included that as part of the deal). So, the question is: do we want to pay $14 million for another year of Josh Johnson? According to the Fangraphs sheep, he's already been worth $7.2 million, and likely going to produce over $10 million worth of pitching by the end of the year. So, assuming he can produce 1.5 WAR next year, he'll be worth it. (if you believe in the 9 million dollar WAR). At this point JJ has to be thinking that he can have a great year next year, and then cash in. Maybe we should gamble on him bouncing back and offer him a 4 year deala for the minimum amount that gives us a draft pick if he declines. He might actually be more likely to decline, (giving us a pick).
  12. Walks mean you took a lot of pitches in your at bat showing good plate discipline, and you got the pitchers pitch count up to get to the pen faster. Yeah, teams are thrilled to see the end of Dickey, Johnson, and Buehrle, so that they can see the soft tossing Cecil, Delabar, and Janssen. Taking pitches only works if the whole team buys into it, so that you can see weak middle relievers, as opposed to the setup man and the closer. Having one or two guys taking pitches doesn't really help out that much. If you have an entire team constructed around the philosophy of taking pitches and you work over their entire bullpen in the first game of a four game series, it pays dividends.
  13. "i will be appearing in sharknado 2" That is big. Just bumped that royal baby nonsense off of the Twitter trends.
  14. No other team in MLB would have called up Marisnick. Marlins are so desperate that anyone with a hot week in AA, gets to put on an MLB jersey. Plus, they're hoping to debut as many future stars as possible this year to put bums in seats, because the fans have abandoned this team, after all of Loria's nonsense.
  15. You're not even close. Favorite baseball team: Montreal Expos Favorite hockey team: Quebec Nordiques Favorite basketball team: Vancouver Grizzlies Favorite super hero: The Flash
  16. With today's triple, Pillar now has as many extra-base hits as Anthony Gose. That's not counting his AA stats, (just Buffalo.) where he has been for 25 games. Of course, Gose has played in three times as many games, and has three times as many at bats.
  17. You've convinced me. After much consideration, I'd rather have Carlos Gonzalez or Mike Trout than Kevin Pillar. Also, I'm not sold on Sanchez. I think we would be better off going with Matt Harvey or Clayton Kershaw.
  18. "won't hit for power and won't walk" Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we recently sign an outfielder to a 2 year/$16 million contract that fits that description pretty well.
  19. Kawasaki looks like he just placed second in the hot dog eating contest.
  20. "Today is for anyone who has been wrongly accused and everyone who stood up for what’s right. It’s about future players and the game of baseball" “I will continue to take the high road. We won because the truth was on my side. I was a victim of a process that completely broke down and failed as it was applied to me in this case." - Ryan Braun, Feb 24, 2012 The guy gets off on a technicality and a team of lawyers then makes arrogant statements like that to rub their noses in it. It's no wonder the guy painted a bullseye on his back.
  21. "AA just trying to hype him up the same way he did with Nestor Molina." This is probably true. AA doesn't care about outfielders who aren't 5-tool natural athletes. He's probably trying to set up Pillar for a trade to acquire a failed middle reliever who throws 95 MPH or a 5-tool guy hitting under .150
  22. IMHO, this is the most offensive thing JPA has ever said/tweeted: "jp arencibia ‏@jparencibia9 26 May Saw a BB by my name today? What does that even stand for? #NotFamiliarWithThatStat" This guy is actually proud of the fact that he doesn't take walks.
  23. Can't really blame JPA for this. Zaun and Hayhurst have been taking cheap shots at JPA and other Jays players prospects all season. Hayhurst is basically a failed pitcher who turned snitch in order to get some attention. Zaun needed to use steroids just to become a mediocre catcher. You can only imagine how bad he would be if he didn't use steroids. The reason these guys are free to shoot their mouths off, is that they are both 'persona non grata' anyways. The rest of the Rogers staff is still granted interviews and invited to the occasional party, but not those two douchebags.
  24. Pillar 2/4, including his third home run in four games. Maybe we can trade him for an 18 year old in AAA batting .081
  25. Pillar ends the day 4/6 with a HR, 2B, SB and assist. The executive summary for Blue Jays management is: 24 year old outfielder hit a home run.
