  1. Unfortunately this is what I was thinking too.
  2. If Turner plays 2 days a week at 3b, Votto plays dh/1b for those 2 and Turner gets a day or two off per week then there may be some good at bats to go around. And then maybe PH for some of the weaker bats like the backup catcher or whatever.
  3. Is there any starter that doesn't really need much of a 3b? In short, where we could hide Vlad at 3b for a few innings?
  4. Quick assessment of Rodriguez: the Japanese style delivery can really screw up some timing. The breaking pitch is a killer Fastball mostly 93-94 mph. Pretty awesome outing. Pete Walker will help him a ton to deal with pitching sequence.
  5. Just a general comment about spring training this year compared to prior: the hitters are getting in a lot game time compared to prior.
  6. Yeah no replays but my stream showed it pretty clearly.
  7. The homer looked more like a double but a really good double. Off the outfield fence. I'll take it.
  8. And I got 'em both on TV. Life is good!! Watching Yariel pitching right now then flip channels to watch Votto hit.
  9. I just put a name out there. Read the next sentence. We may need to clear 2 spots if one of Vogelbach (less likely) or Votto make the roster along with a catcher.
  10. The 40 man roster is full and we will need at least one spot for another catcher. Not sure if it will be Serven or if somebody will shake loose from one of the other teams. But we will have to drop somebody. I'd see options being: 1. Drop somebody from the current 40 such as Zack Pop or Macko. I'm not suggesting anybody here, just putting out a name for example. 2. Make a trade sending Espinal and maybe a reliever or two.
  11. It just seems like there will be an attempt to control contract prices going forward. Back when the management did what they did to Andre Dawson and others, the managers bit off too much and looked bad. But if management does things like not signing late players and leaving players on the vine, then it could work.
  12. Kind of shows the arbitration process does not use market value.
  13. Just my opinion, but it seems like Espinal is being showcased for a trade, Babe Schneider 2-3 starts per week effectively as 4th outfielder sharing that job with Biggio and Clement as backup getting a couple of games a week sharing with IKF. That's assuming health for all concerned.
  14. I saw garbage being put on a player today and I didn't find it funny. I follow more of a Crash Davis attitude. If Manoah proved something in the majors then he can do this and I will laugh. I just see a loser trying to degrade another player. From what I've seen of Manoah, I look forward to him being gone.
  15. Maybe it's because I don't think it's humour, rather it's a way of knocking down somebody's achievement as a way of hiding their lack own lack of achievement. I've already given up on Manoah, I think he's not a winner. Starting to think the same of Vladdy. Look at his post season last year. When he starts to hit like a leader then he can joke around all he wants.
  16. You're right, obviously I'm in the minority but I think we won't be winners unless we see a winning attitude and players that rip a guy that did something and gets noticed are not winners. And as for mphenhef, I'm no Yankee fan. But they don't accept losing.
  17. Expect to see Votto on Sunday in split squad games. He's playing minor league today per Hazel Mae.
  18. I think it's a measure of character. Manoah doesn't seem to have any and Vladdy either.
  19. Just watching Manoah putting a banana peel on Ricky T after somebody (off screen so don't know who) threw peanuts. And thinking about Vladdy throwing water and such on players being interviewed. Just wondering what people think of it. Personally I hate it and find it insulting and if I was manager I'd bench anyone who did it.
  20. Sorry Spanky, I misinterpreted your comment. My fault. So maybe a bullpen job, and the righty bats for the infielder/outfielder are to be decided.
  21. Didnt say he was a star: just that he will be #5
  22. Seems like he did...about a year ago.
  23. All that being said, (in other words back to baseball) looks like Bowden Francis may have earned the #5 spot today.
  24. Don't know how he got any better from that time. I was surprised we signed him but I figured it was just a minor league deal.
