  1. Voted 'Good'. I'm not super thrilled that we didn't get some more impact talent, whether through trades or FA, but with how the market has played out this winter I'm fine with that. If you think it's a poor off-season I think you need to give your head a shake.
  2. Typically (as someone who does negotiations for a living) you give a response much closer to the second response than the first, just in a way that people don't feel insulted. More like "At this juncture we cannot comment on the issue". I really wish that I could be snarky to some of my clients a lot more often.
  3. Of course they are. But they're coming for a product (Bluejays Baseball) and a winning team will bring more people in than re-signing a single player will.
  4. I'd imagine every single player in camp, who was injured last year, already have their medicals up to date.
  5. After reading this thread I honestly need to question how some of you are actually able to access the Internet, I'm amazed that you're not struggling to put on pants. Trading for Bruce is not a sign that the team isn't going to re-sign Bautista and seeing it that way is hilarious. Bautista and EE are both players that should be DHing at this point, Toronto has a need in the OF in 2017 (our three OF that might be on the team in 2017 are question marks), and Bruce offers a fill for that at a fairly reasonable price (trade wise) and is someone you could make the argument for that a bounce back could occur. He's more likely to play 100+ games in 2016 as well and for a team that lacks good MLB quality depth that's not a bad thing.
  6. The VIP level right above home plate? What's odd about that?
  7. I tend to do a blonde roast coffee in the AM for the higher caffeine content, done in the bulletproof form (https://www.bulletproofexec.com/bulletproof-coffee-recipe/). Then a nice dark roast (black) the rest of the day with an espresso as my night cap. I drink far too much coffee.
  8. Any word on if it's a MiLB or MLB deal? If it's an MLB deal I'd assume he's either a swing man or the fifth starter.
  9. As I said, if Pompey isn't in the show he's probably the more ideal 4th OF. I don't think anyone wants another year of Carerra. It will be interesting to see what route they go with Pompey this year, you don't really want to waste a season of him on the bench and I can't see them using him in a platoon and not getting reps from both sides of the plate. If Saunders is not healthy this is a moot point.
  10. Super small sample size but he was incredibly strong defensively during his 30 game call up with the Mets. Could be a much better option than Carerra as the 4th OF if Pompey is in AAA getting everyday at bats.
  11. Roster announcement could be an extension. Who knows, I haven't heard anything else anywhere so I'm inclined to discount it but could be a JD/EE/JB extension, or a Stroman extension for all we know.
  12. He says he put on 25lbs, not 25lbs of muscle unless he's done another interview.
  13. $450k this year isn't a big deal, but what about next year and the year after? Keeping costs down on controlled players even at small amounts adds up large over time.
  14. I looked up Gallardo's RA9-WAR for shits and giggles, 4.3. I was actually surprised and expected it much closer to his fWAR.
  15. Shapiro talking and being direct is a refreshing change. I enjoy how Shapiro also says "I don't need to defend myself, go ask someone like Antonelli, or x/y/z if you want to know about me".
  16. It's been really good so far. Good summary on reddit ( ) I'm actually impressed with Bobcat not being a complete ass with Shapiro yet.
  17. They're bumper plates designed to give you the same height as a 45lb plate for lifting safety and can be as light as 10lbs though 15-25lbs is more common.
  18. My fiance and I tend to not do a whole lot for each other gift wise (generally just do a stocking), we both buy what we want when we want it. But I got a nice anatomy of the Bautista bat flip T Shirt which I thought was pretty sweet.
  19. Fields is a bit unique being over-aged and all but he just finished his second full pro season, had good walk numbers in AA. If he can field he'd be a really solid bench piece for a team that had someone like Kyle Schwarber in the OF. Let Schwarber (example player only) get 3-4 at bats and get pulled for a guy that can run bases and field. Jarrod Dyson lite.
  20. Surprised we passed in the AAA level.
  21. Searege probably turns Niese into a 6+ win pitcher, the magician that he is.
  22. I don't think you can write EE from 34-37, anything past that might be questionable. I just don't think it's feasible to keep EE and JB when they both need to DH/1B.
  23. I'm liking the Happ and Estrada signings more and more as this winter goes on. Estrada is a short term solution and fills a hole we had. Happ is basically our replacement for RA Dickey in 2017 and 2018, though I don't believe he'll provide Dickey's value.
  24. The more I read on Atkins the happier I am with the hiring.
  25. I have two pairs so I rotate which means they don't smell. Washing jeans is basically pointless. I don't work as a dry cleaner for who ever had asked. I like dressing well so I've learned to care for clothing.
