  1. Keep in mind that if you do acquire Chapman with the intentions of him being a starter, he'd be on a strict innings limit on the following 2 seasons. He could end up dominating the league but for only 120, 160 innings.
  2. labourt? smoral? We have so many mid-rotation potential starters that it's OK to give up a few.
  3. Didn't even know Jemile left the A's to begin with.
  4. good article on the most recent Korean postings: http://globalsportingintegration.com/posting-fee-kbo/
  5. Now now, everyone knows Angrioter is really a Cuban who left the island to go join the Dominicana. It explains why he hates them so much!
  6. Jesus christ how does angrioter know everyone and everything before the press do? It's like DR is a country of 20 people. Or maybe angrioter works for the DR intelligence agency (if that exists) and spies on everyone
  7. The only thing that comforts me is that Brandon Moss being shopped was well known, and I bet a bunch of clubs inquired. The fact that they only the Indians paid this little probably means all teams got a good luck at his medicals and were not excited.
  8. I'm pissed that we didn't get him. Moss is a Outfield/1B guy, lefty smasher that fits our line-up perfectly. And all they got in return was this Brett Wallace-type scrub? Makes me wonder if Beane realllly love those MLB-ready players with little upside.
  9. WTF is Oakland doing? Only Joey Wendle? http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=wendle000jos Beane is either stupid or he thinks the hip surgery for Moss was unsuccessful
  10. We should crowdfund an airplane ticket and a hotel room for angrioter to be our official representative Who knows, maybe he can offer his services to be a dominican scout
  11. pretty much all of Melky's options so far are big parks..SF, KC, Mariners. Only one that makes sense is Baltimore.

  13. It won't take a lot to get him. Go look at what the Red Sox got for Theo. They gave up a scrub named Chris Carpenter.
  14. Apparently they are on the search for a new GM because they were displeased regarding his search for a Bud Selig replacement. If I recall Beeston was part of a small minority not to vote for a certain person. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11992598/toronto-blue-jays-seek-replace-ceo-paul-beeston IMO I think this is a good sign that the Rogers executives are actually following the baseball industry and keeping tabs. THe fact that they are concerned about reputation is good. edit: based on my short research, it appears Beeston didn't want Manfred to win (and instead Lerner) so that he could get a job @ MLB with Werner-Brosnan leading the way
  15. If it works for him then it works. Hitting coaches are there to remind players or make any observations, not impose changes. It has worked for Donaldson anyways. Can he be an even better hitter if he implemented those changes? Sure. But there's always a risk that making tweaks will mess players up. Besides, look at Hunter Pence. Scouts and all think his swing and hitting approach is terrible and should not be teached. But he's still contributing.
  16. I still don't understand what a Blue Jays president does. All he does is answer PR and rely the GM's concerns to Rogers?
  17. Either way we need really good relievers. Go look at the Tigers last season for an example of what happens when you don't.
  18. Robertson won't be able to get anywhere close to the money Miller got, thanks to the draft pick signing clubs will have to forfeit. Anyone know what happens if he sign him and then Melky signs elsewhere? Do we lose a 1st? 2nd? Also, the thing I like about Robertson is that his stuff is not the only thing he has going for him. Apparently because of his delivery, he is able to release the ball closer to home plate than other pitchers. IT doesn't seem like much, but remember baseball is a game of inches. http://www.sbnation.com/2012/5/4/2999268/david-robertson-mariano-rivera-injury-yankees-closer
  19. Yeah the only way they can improve their club reasonably is through the SP. All the really good FA bats are gone, and they don't have anyone to trade for big guys.
  20. I don't mind them signing him. It's not like they can throw Miller at our RH monster trifecta.
  21. So are you people judging AA's moves based on what happened at that time, or what has happened since the trade? Y'all could love these Martin/Saunders/Donaldson signings/trades since they are no brainers right now, but when any of them get injured or fall off the face of the earth in production, I must wonder if you'll be criticizing AA for them.
  22. How was Thames for Delabar objectively terrible?
  23. He is, but that makes me pause and think that defensive metrics should need to be looked at a bit more carefully. Even with his E5-like throwing tendecies, is his range enough to overcome it? Statistically, yes, it's enough to provide more defensive value. Still though, I'd hate to have a game situation where an errant throw leads to a bigger inning for the opposing team. Would be nice to have defensive metrics that are split into type of defensive. i.e. range, reaction, throwing/arm strength/, accuracy, e.t.c
