    AAV still counts against the luxury tax regardless of front or back loading. Front vs backloading doesn't make much difference when you're a luxury tax spending team

    He could have walked for a comp pick. That's probably worse As much as the length and overall value of the contract isn't ideal, there is a value in having a cornerstone in place who could potentially end up in the HoF of he pulls his head out of his ass. All those depth pieces that sign elsewhere on shorter deals could be looking the Jays way in the future. What remains to be seen is if this impacts the higher tiers of players choosing TO as a destination now that there's some certainty in the face of the franchise

    No way Vlad would have signed a 300m dollar deal though...from e everything he's said publicly there's no reason to ever suspect he wanted less than a 500 million dollar extension.

    Makes ya wonder if Robertson has some medical issue. Seems very odd he hasn't had any looks from any of the fringe contenders who could all use pen upgrades.

    One good thing about being a Jays fan... Apple TV doesn't care about Jays games enough to pick up more than 2 or 3 per season. Next one is April 18th against Seattle, then there's no more scheduled until at least the end of june

    I'm trying to imagine the piece of humble pie Vlad will have to eat of he has a 2-3 fWAR season. I mean, there's no doubt he would eat that slice and probably the whole pie, but..it would be entertaining. Problem is, that likely sucks for the Jays playoff chances unless everything else goes perfectly
