    And the ridiculous part... making a post on it to say how bad it is...helps drive traffic. Honestly man, if you really want to help discourage these kinds of articles, not commenting at all is the way to go. Think of trash heaps like this article in wrestling terms. Silence is worse than boos. Oh, and of course, have patience and stuff. Learning... improving blah blah. Davy will have these people creating good content containing with real analysis rather than grade 8 level recess opinions soon.

    Agree with this assessment, though we have seen Vlad flirt with 50 and both Bo and Varsho, within a hair of 30. Optimistic outlook for sure, but one of these days there has to be a guy overperform projections right? Just...once?

    Best case at this point is just doing what you can to ensure Vlad allows the Jays a chance to match the best offer he gets in FA. Then it's just like the drama never happened. If they're out of it and can trade him at some point and still get that assurance...even better.

    He is 100% or he wouldn't be on the field. Point is, there's no reason to try pushing it in game 1 of a meaningless exhibition game when the only goal is to get your reps and not get hurt.

    It's his 3rd PA of the spring after a year of calf issues. Going balls out on the basepaths seems pretty stupid.

    I don't mind deferrals, I think they're an excellent tool that was designed to help smaller market teams have an extra tool at their disposal to retain their star players. However, as wirh most seemingly good ideas, the spirit of their use is being abused by the Dodgers because any type of financial rule like this meant to help lower budget teams, will of course benefit the big boys more if used, which it is. The fix is pretty easy though, you just cap the number of deferred contracts teams can have on their roster. No, it still wouldn't mean every team could get an Ohtani, but it would prevent the deepest of pockets from being able to defer multiple future hall of famers and lower tier stars. Every team still has access to them, just not unlimited access. Fixed.

    Absolutely garbage. Tradition, respect for the rules, and the authority of the men who own businesses is clearly eroding before our very eyes. What's next, women voting?

    Understandable. Quality over quantity though. I understand an open policy where people can write what they wish. But some of these articles are nothing more than "random thought popped in my head so let's write an article" when they really should be just a comment on a forum topic. I get the balancing act, but some articles don't get comments because they're just not worthy of receiving them.

    There's not really a debate about it. Go to baseball savant and sort OAA for 1b from 2019 through 2024. Vlad is dead last Do the same thing for baserunning value. He's 4th last of all qualified players. He's not middle of the pack in defense or baserunning, he's literally the 1st percentile.

    I think he means he isnt one dimensional like Alonso in that Alonso is a pure power bat, with no hit tool, doesnt walk a lot, strikes out way more. Both are 1 dimensional in that their only value comes from their bats. Vlad's bat just has more dimensions to it than Alonso.

    480 over 15 would make sense at 32 m per year. Vald's already turned down 10/340 and whatever else the Jays offered after that. Vlad wants to be among the highest AAVs in the game. He said the Soto contract didn't affect his ask and he already had his demands in place before that. Maybe that's true, maybe it's not. Maybe it's true in that it wasn't the Soto contract that changed anything but it was Ohtani's because Vlad was 2nd to him in the MVP in 2021 and Vlad truly thinks he is a comparable player to the unicorn. I don't know this for a fact at all, just saying if 480 over 15 years was his number, the ink would already be dry on a done deal.

    If anything, the Alonso situation should be showing Vlad what the league thinks about 1b value. #2, why didn't Houston trade Bregman last year then? Understand I'm just playing devils advocate here. I think comparing 2 teams in different situations isn't overly useful. And there's no 1 bad guy in a 2 way negotiation if a deal doesn't get done , without knowing the details. My feeling is Vlad overvalues himself to the point where blindly caving to his number would be stupid. My feeling is also that Atkins and Shapiro are too risk averse in this specific scenario to get close enough for Vlad to even consider concessions. I blame neither party fully, but lean towards like...55-60% Vlad. But even then, I understand why he's asking for it, he holds all the leverage going into FA.

    How can anyone blindingly say Vlad has no responsibility in the situation? Negotiations are a two way street.

    I generally agree, but if the one side isn't willing to negotiate in good faith and asks for a price that is so far out there it's ridiculous and doesnt budge.. then what can ya do?

    Not a forgone conclusion but.... looking more likely every day now for sure. Which of course now makes it weird... did you cheer for the guy to be MVP level Vlad this season and in doing so increase the odds of a playoff looking team that all bit guarantees no trade at the deadline? Or do you hope he's wildly inconsistent, seemingly proving the brass right for not extending him...but then watching the Jays flounder, and having is value at the deadline be substandard.... Interesting times

    Lots of contradiction in Vlad's statements. They weren't close on numbers....I know my value.... they had their numbers, I had mine... Money isn't the only priority ... winning is the goal....I will do everything I can to stay here... So yeah, Vlad asking for far too much money seemingly confirmed. I doubt the number is 450/10 either as that's a number that's not so egregious it couldn't be rationalized.
