  1. Agreed. Just doing a sort from 2019 - 2024 .. Vlad is dead last in OAA among all qualified 1b at -32 His main culprit is balls hit to his right (-14) and balls he has to charge in on (-9), but he was still negative value in basically all directions... in, out, left or right. So far in 2025, he only negative on balls he has to charge (-2), is positive on balls to his left (2), right (1) and neutral on balls behind him (0). Objectively, Vlad is actually having a very good defensive year (for him) given his previous track record. To put it in perspective... over the same 2019-2024 time frame, Christian Walker is far and away the best defensive 1B and it's not even particularly close. +57 OAA, and 43 runs prevented. 2nd place is Carlos Santana at +23 OAA and 17 runs prevented.
  2. We've had discussions about this before and confirmed with Tom Tango, the difference between the best and worst "pickers" at 1b isn't large. Vlad being among the best at picking is nowhere near as positively impactful as his issues with range are negatively impactful. He has shown improvements in that aspect though so far this season compared to his previous year's where he's been objectively the worst defender at 1b since he came into the league.
  3. Mountcastle out 8-12 weeks due to a grade 2 hamstring strain.
  4. Come on man, you know better than to invoke the 1st amendment on an internet message board. At least.... i hope so. I've defended you for many things but this is indefensible.
  5. And only 1 splitter thrown. That's more like it
  6. Watched a few videos of him and to say he is stocky is an understatement. He looks like Davis Schneider build only taller, and thicker.
  7. MLB likely adding in ABS system for 2026. Looks like its coming next season boys! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/mlb-to-propose-automatic-ball-strike-challenge-system-for-2026.html
  8. And Cleveland about to beat the Yankees. All around good day
  9. Defensible position. However, taking him out now and he's probably still good for those same 3 guys tomorrow if needed.
  10. Was a great approach too, 0-2 on pitches up and in, probably figured that's where he was gonna get it in the full count. And he did
  11. Barger with another one! Dude's bat is on fire
  12. D Schneider is alive! Just need 6 more of those and we'll be good
  13. The guy throwing right now might be the next guy to slot in at #5 But, realistically, acquiring a #4 or #5 barely moves the needle... they need a top end guy that can exceed Gausman's level to push everyone else down, just like they needed in the offseason. Not even sure there's anyone out there that's on the block that even fits that bill tbh.
  14. He still has one option year left... no need to pull the plug completely.... yet.
  15. Sanchez should clear and probably get sent to Buffalo. Stefanic might not clear but...even if he doesnt...no big loss.
  16. Pinango has moved up to AAA, maybe just due to all the BUffalo guys coming up here recently, but maybe he gets a chance to stay
  17. There's not even a need to take him out for defense, he's grading out very very well there right now. You could move him from 3rd to the OF late in a game if ya wanted to and put Clement there instead, but a straight sub out for Clement wouldn't really be needed in a close game imo.
  18. I lean this way also. He's hot right now, and his glove is top shelf so ride him while he's hot to a point, but with both Barger and Gimenez being LH, Clement will get his fair share of opportunities relieving 1 of them in games against LHP (id lean towards sitting Gimenez), or filling in for roving DH games but, yeah I'm not of the belief he HAS to play everyday against RHP.
  19. The tar is being heated as we speak, AND a special batch of pigeon feathers has been sourced for this transgression.
  20. I love winning, I f***ing love winning! You know what I'm saying? It's, like, better than losing?
  21. Barger and Clement would make one hell of a platoon. Barger would gets the majority of starts as the strong side and Clement would be the lefty-killing defensive specialist. Thing is, they're both good enough to probably start against same side pitching and not be a s*****.
