  1. Kid has had a real long road to get where he is. If he wants to strut after striking out a future hall of famer, that's fine by me in his very first MLB appearance.
  2. Even giving up that tying run... its nice not immediately having that sense of dread like the entire game is about to fall apart. It's like... yeah okay, we'll get it back. What a nice feeling.
  3. Fastball , slider, curve (spin rate is like 2800-3200 rpm) and splitter. Fastball 92-95 with a very high spin rate also, something like 2400-2600. Could be a decent arm
  4. Suarez is the worst baserunner in the league and a butcher on defense though... something to think about. No doubting the bat though.
  5. 4.56 fip is nothing to lead a rotation though. Yeah there's a history of better stuff, but ... when I'm in a playoff push i want much more certainty in what im getting. Not saying he wouldn't be a worthy trade target with the 2 more years after this one, but who is he better than in the rotation even right now? His FIP is only better than Scherzer, but unless he gets hurt again... he's gonna be in the rotation. Lauer has earned his spot, and the top 3 aren't going anywhere. I think if you target SP, it's gotta be a near-ace or better, with much more certainty than Alcantara brings, IMO
  6. Truly I don't think the position matters as much as the "lefty killer" with power part. With Varsho coming back soon, that pushes Straw back to the bench into his PH/PR late inning defensive replacement role with the occasional start when Varsho needs a day off. That's really where he should be since his defense is only a sliver worse than Varsho, but his bat is an entire forest away. Current 40 man roster guys (assuming all healthy) that can play the OF - Loperfido, Clase, Lukes, Robertson, Roden, Santander, Springer, Schneider, Straw, Varsho, Barger. Eliminate the lefty hitters and you have Clase, Santander, Springer, Schneider and Straw. Clase certainly isn't much of a killer of anything except hope... Santander is a ? atm, Springer is hitting like Judge, Myles has a Straw bat, and Schneider has been doing everything possible to show he can be that guy. On the IF - Barger, Schneider, Bo, Clement, Gimenez, Jimenez, Vlad, Orelvis and Wagner. Orelvis is a non-factor right now. Scratch the lefties again and Clement is a lefty killer but with limited pop so you can easily plan on his numbers regressing a bit. Bo is always gonna be in the lineup when healthy, Jimenez is a 125 wRC+ against LHP in his MLB career, and has always hit LHP well in the minors but like Clement, very limited power output. Right now, the only real power threat from the R side that wouldn't be in the lineup everyday is Schneider, and even with his current hot streak, he's far from a sure thing power-wise. Anyways, all of this rambling aside, there's enough guys on the roster that can play both IF and OF, and we have enough LHH and SH, that all we really need as a hired gun to hit from the R side and launch nukes off the bench, position doesn't really matter so much.
  7. Milwaukee would need to go on a pretty bad stretch to want to trade away Peralta. Theyre firmly in a WC spot and still in striking distance of the division. They may not be top-shelf buyers, but i highly doubt they're sellers.
  8. Take any W you can get. They bent, didnt break.
  9. No doubt. Hopefully something he can shake off with a few days off his feet
  10. Time for Mr Clutch to come through. Do something here Bo
  11. So glad Schneider had the foresight to stick Gimenez into the leadoff spot. 4D chess
  12. Big outs from Lauer there to strand the leadoff double. Dude is really throwing well
  13. To add nuance to this though, if a ball goes off the bat and doesnt touch the ground before getting to 3rd or 1st and curves around the bag (slicing or hooking) and lands foul past the bag, its still foul. Its only when the ball has touched the ground between home and the corner bases, in fair or foul territory, when it can then curve around the bag in the air and be ruled fair.
  14. Next 9 games are against Angels, White Sox and Athletics. Should be a 6-3 stretch minimum, anything better would be great. What this team really needs is the SPs to rattle off 6+ every night until the all star break. The pen is ragged right now
  15. And a good Canadian kid too, thats extra points.
  16. Gotta think he's just coming up for bullpen help/long man. Pen is pretty much decimated right now. Could just transfer Santander to the 60 day IL to free up a 40 man spot, send down Bruihl for the 26 man
  17. Buffalo put up 8 runs in the 2nd inning tonight. They lost 14-8.
