  1. I hit RH in baseball but am LH in hockey and golf. My coach when I was very young saw me standing to hit LH and just turned me around to hit RH for whatever reason so that's how I learned to hit.
  2. This thread is an abomination, much like our 2b position.
  3. No reason to play you regulars for more than 3 AB in a blowout
  4. Well then we won't have to wait too long for Tanaka's first no-hitter in majors then, amirite?
  5. Look at the bright side folks, none of our pitchers were as bad as Quintana for the White Sox today. He gave up 9 runs in the 1st inning on 7 hits and 2 walks without even recording an out... and he's actually going to be in the Sox rotation this year!
  6. Oy.... If it were up to Martinez, they'd have to take vodka shots after rounding first.
  7. Well, not exactly what I was getting at, but they should be focused a ton more on building their arm strength with exercises and not overthrowing just to get scouts attention on the radar gun, knowing that if something blows up they have the miracle TJ surgery to patch them back up.
  8. Some parent try to get it done, no reputable surgeon would ever perform that operation on a healthy arm. It's a huge misconception that you are stronger after the surgery anways
  9. I was reading an article the other day and the studies were showing that the stress on a normal persons UCL at only 80 MPH should be enough to snap it in half. The reason most pitchers don't drop like flies now is because they train and develop that ligament to take more stress. But, as you can see, there's still more and more pitchers going down to this same injury every year. Why? Honestly, just my own crazy opinion with no real numbers to back it up, I think that pitchers, because they know there is a TJ surgery out there that will fix them if they break and very likely get them back healthy again, are not as considerate of how they should be training their arms really early in their life and instead of being cautious and slow in their development aren't holding anything back when they're learning to pitch in little league and high school baseball. Look at how many high school arms are out there throwing 95 MPH at 17 and 18 years old and putting insane amounts of stress on their arms while they are still physically maturing, and many times having TJ surgery before they even go to college. Why do all the crazy arm exercises every day when you can sign a massive multi-million dollar bonus and just have surgery in a few years?
  10. Apparently fighting the flu before being kneed in the head twice. He's already passed the tests for concussions so ... meh.
  11. OP was asking for pitchers, but I bet if it was a position player, Rios and Wells would likely be in the top 5 on the majority of lists, deservedly or not. For pitcher's, I really hated Chris Carpenter. He stunk every year he pitched for the Jays, then after surgery and was released, became a perennial Cy Young candidate out of nowhere.
  12. I would agree in a vacuum but with Cano there that impacts there leverage a bit. I think that would drive down his return at least into a C to C+ prospect. What other value are they going to get from him playing in AAA or riding the bench while his option years burn away?
  13. I had estimated 75 pitches for Redmond, according to Wilner he threw 73 over his 5 innings. Not bad.
  14. Can only get a pretty basic feel only hearing it on the radio, but it sounded like he was throwing really well. 2 of the hits were hard contact, threw some great curveballs, got pretty much nothing but Ks and grounders except for the double.
  15. Tie game, Josh Thole up with the winning run on 2b, again needs to stay out of the double play. 1-1 count, Thole screams a foul ball down the 3B line into the crowd, 1-2. Outside on a slider down and away, 2-2. Outside again, 3-2. Gibbons sends the runners on the 3-2 count, Thole bounces a slow chopper to 2b, throws to 1b for the out, but Diaz was flying around third all the way, throw to the plate is late, Diaz slides in to score the winner ! 4-3 Jays in a walk off!
  16. LHB Johnson facing a lefty here, needs to stay out of a double play. Takes ball 1, then strike 1. Outside, 2-1. Swing and miss on a slider down and away, 2-2. Johnson line drive base hit into RF, scores Kratz from third and Diaz can only move up to 2b with the ball hit so hard.
  17. Diaz takes ball 1, then a wild pitch moves up Kratz to 3B. 1 out. 2-0 count. Takes high ball 3. IF playing about halfway s omay be coming home on contact. Ball 4. Runners 1st and 3rd with 1 out, winning run on 1b with Dan Johnson coming up.
  18. Kratz hitting for Lind. Outside ball 1, outside ball 2. ground ball foul 3b line, 2-1. ground ball foul 3b line, 2-2. Ground ball over the bag at 3B for a double! Jonathan Diaz up. 1 out with the tying run at 2b, winning run at the plate.
  19. Some telling stats, Phoenix outrebounded the Raps by 20, not a shock I guess but Amir only getting 1 board is pretty weak.
  20. Pinch hitter Joseph flies out to end the inning. Jays to the bottom of the 10th down 3-2. Due up, Goedert, Lind's spot and Diaz.
