  1. Fangraphs did a nice article today. Take a look at the bottom of the list. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/who-has-been-helped-and-hurt-the-most-by-the-art-of-pitch-framing-082214
  2. Yup. Problem is it's still very inconsistent. 9 runs one game, 1 run for the next two, then 7, then 1 or 2 again. Makes for a nice avg of runs per game but not consistent winning baseball.
  3. I just see a lot of passive hitting, coupled with guessing at pitches rather than recognizing what's being thrown and adjusting.

That's a pretty balls out way to accept the challenge though.
  5. There lots of young talent there though and with the payroll room in the upcoming offseason, they could retool in a hurry.
  6. Pedroia boots another one...nothing makes me happier than watching the Sox suck, except for the jays not sucking.
  7. Key point though, AA has to find him and be willing to pay more than league minimum.
  8. Depends on what's actually wrong with the patella. I had a displaced patella when I was 19 and it was no joke. Took 2-3 months of physical therapy before I could even walk without pain. Not enough detail on what kind of patella injury he has though.
  9. Omg... The Red Sox are brutal... Just brutal. Nava just let a pop fly drop in front of him with the bases loaded and none out. Got the runner at second... But holy crap that was awful.
  10. Well, true... His skillset really isn't represented well by xFIP, but he puts so many balls in play that he really needs a good defense behind him, which the jays don't have. And to one of your other points, yeah I think the could be a 2-2.5 WAR pitcher out there that wouldn't cost 19 million. As for whether I trust AA to find him... No, not really
  11. First word on Richards, left knee patella injury. Severity still not known
  12. Sure. But he needs to stop being looked at as a 2/3 and be seen as what he is, a 4. There no real room for improvement in his game. Chances are next year he'll be slightly more hittable, only be around 5 K/9, 2 bb/9, that's not really a guy I want to pay 19 million to as a back end starter. Reliable... Yes. Too expensive for his skillset? Absolutely. He's had an xFIP under 4 only 3 seasons in his career, and never under 3.77. 2 of the seasons were 9 and 10 years ago.
  13. Sure, except that the Angels would be better off not trading for Buerhle and just using Wolf or Leblanc. Would you just let Buerhle go for nothing or want some s***** asset from the Angels' system back?
  14. Watching the game you could hear his screaming on the audio until they turned down the volume on the mics close to first
  15. Jesus ... Big Papi just went BOOM
  16. That's just it, it really doesn't look bad, but he was howling like he was shot. Something in that knee or ankle went horribly wrong.
  17. The video of it isn't great, the play wasn't even at first, but I'm sure something will be up soon
  18. Worst part of it, they can't even stand him up to get him on the cart, they have to put him on the backboard ... That's no good.
  19. The close up of him yelling in pain was pretty telling. You dont scream like that for something that ends up being minor.
  20. Angels SP Garret Richards injured with his left leg as he was covering first on a ground ball. Doesn't look good, he lost his footing and the left leg folded very weirdly underneath him. He was legit screaming in pain. If I had to guess, he's done for the year.
  21. f*** me that sound makes my dick move.
  22. Link to all kinds of Pompey pr0n for prospect prognostication purposes. http://www.milb.com/search/media.jsp?player_id=592647
  23. The same Slugger from the old board?
  24. I would agree. Let the kid at least get 500-600 PA at AA or higher before making any judgements. One knock on him has been his health, much like Shane Opitz, can't seem to stay healthy for any single season so far in his minor league career. Over 5 MiLB seasons he's only accumulated 1200 AB, and only 112 at AA. Predicting an opening day mlb roster assignment is grossly optimistic.
