  1. They want him to throw and there's no minor league team's left to rehab with unless you put him in the playoffs in Vancouver or Dunedin.
  2. Gonna be a long night if Dickey doesn't get those obvious strike calls in the lower part of the zone...
  3. Pompey went out in style in buffalo, 4-6 tonight with 2 doubles raising his avg to .358.
  4. How about his first catcher....
  5. And that's why bringing him up now is puzzling. Why add him to the 40 man now, which means if he is projected as SP depth in AAA next year, you burn an option year next year if you dont have to? I'm thinking it means they want to get a look and see if he can be a legit 5th starter, which means Happ could be dealt.
  6. I disagree that he has nothing to prove in the minors, dude has thrown 40 innings at AA or higher. He lacks strikeout stuff doesn't walk a lot of guys and generates a ton of ground balls... In the minors. Seeing how that translates against big league hitters is huge, especially without strikeout stuff.
  7. And the way it's going, you only need to get 1 right to make it.
  8. Agreed. He's still got talent and he'll be cheap.
  9. I get Pompey, and understand Norris, but I don't get Graveman. They have another 2 years before they would have to add him.
  10. A regular pen role with expanded rosters means maybe once a week.
  11. Was listening to mlb radio and Jim Bowden, the ex-GM said that same scout worked for Jim as a cross checker, and it wouldn't surprise him in the least if it were true. He basically said the guy was good at his job, but was a giant douche.
  12. No kidding. And 4 roster spots have to opened. Not that the guys being turfed are worth keeping but still. 9 guys is a ton, especially with 5 position players.
  13. Actually this is looking pretty positive. There's a lot of dead weight coming off the roster this offseason. Mastro, Hynes, Janssen, morrow, Hague, Rasmus, likely McGowan, possibly Johnson, Tolleson, Francisco and maybe even Cabrera could be gone. Pompey was a must add, so there plenty of room for Graveman and Norris and lots of space for AA to go his usual reliever binge.
  14. Pretty much all cable tv or satellite in Canada is a ripoff for the programming you get. I'm with shaw Direct satellite in Lethbridge alberta. Like 1 step up from the basic package and it's over 100 per month. 2 years ago the top end package was the same As I am payng now for the second worst package. And every 2-3 months it goes up by another 2-3 per month. It's ridiculous.
  15. Yeah I don't get that firing, unless there's something behind the scenes that we aren't aware of. Luhnow couldn't seriously have expected a competitive year with his roster, so there no way he can hang the w/l record on Porter. Maybe they just don't believe he's the right guy for the young team.
  16. I don't see how both Sanchez and Norris can be on the rotation with innings limits that would be in the 160-170 range if the Jays FO are still expecting to be contending. They could probably get away with 1 of them and skipping the odd start to try and keep the innings down, but wasting them in a pen role when they need to be building innings would be hilariously stupid.
  17. Mayberry in Cf would be an abomination. In case of emergency ... Yeah, but he's a corner OF/1b
  18. Yes, Morrow is on the 60 day DL. No, Pierre wasn't on the 40 man and the was room to add Mayberry without creating space. Right now they're at 39 on the 40 man so even activating Morrow would be fine without having to DFA anyone. Izturis being on the 60-day creates that extra space
  19. Yes, any player on the mlb roster can play in the afl as long as they have less than 1 year of service time as of Sept 1
  20. I have no issue with it really, it's just odd to bring him up when he's only going to get maybe 10 innings max over 4 weeks.
  21. The Mayberry acquisition pretty much puts the kibosh on Pompey joining. That many OF he'd only be pinch running sparingly. May as well just send him to the AFL and add him in the offseason. No harm
  22. We're calling up FO personal from Minnesota? Cool
  23. 3 or 4 starts is basically meaningless. He has been dominant in 3 of 4 starts at the highest level of the minors. Let's see him do that for 3-4 months before any real judgments on his "dominance" are made.
  24. Meh. It was built nearly 30 years ago. I'm sure old Yankee stadium wasn't exactly a prime example of modernization either.
