  1. The thing is, his domination of boxing was only 1 aspect of his worldwide appeal. When he refused to be drafted into the army for the Vietnam war and converted to Islam, was arrested and convicted, stripped of the title and then ultiately got his conviction overturned... it was a changing point in history It wasn't just boxing that benefitted from Ali, but the entire world
  2. Apologies if this was reported in another thread but I did a quick search and came up empty. It's technically off topic from baseball, but as one of the few sports figures that inarguably transcends his sport - i think it should be here. Muhammed Ali has passed away at the age of 74 http://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/muhammad-ali-greatest-all-time-dead-74-n584776
  3. It's an 8 man pen right now, you only have to be 4th best to be considered one of the better ones. Not exactly a stretch
  4. Forgive me if I don't order that PPV
  5. Can't stand it actually, but I am in Vancouver right now, which might explain the other one.
  6. I just threw up in my mouth. But I do acknowledge it's less of a mistake than resigning DeRozan would be. This team needs some elite skill and talent, not 20 foot chuckers. Also better that the deal replaces his option year instead of adding to it.
  7. Those ads must rotate,I saw Vancouver 2016 and Philadelphia cream cheese.
  8. I'd say if either of those two guys see any significant time in the majors (spot starts are to expected at some point an that's fine), the Jays are completely f***ed.
  9. Article on Harris and his mechanics changes http://m.milb.com/news/article/20160602181476872/jays_harris_overhauls_delivery_finds_success
  10. Ive seen both also. The difference is that all Angel does is "illusions" that require huge camera tricks and cg and a fake audience to look legit on tv, so all his live stuff sucks. Penn and Teller are 100% legit performers that know their craft inside out, backwards, wrote half the books on their art form, and don't think they're anything other than what they are.
  11. Game 54 Bonus: +2 If Blue Jays win and you pick a HR correct Pillar (7pts)- LetTheBallFly, Jonn Donaldson (2pts)- o2, JohnHavok Bautista (2pts)- Edwin (2pts)- Candy Maldonado, jays4life19, FrozenRopes Tulo (3pts)- Smoak (5pts)- Saunders (2pts)- Martin (5pts)-o2, Spanky Thole (10pts)- Goins (10pts)- Carrera (10pts)- Barney(10pts) - Travis (7pts)- Bench (10pts)-
  12. They use a similar calculation method, but use different stats in their calcs. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/war/differences-fwar-rwar/ But theyre not so radically different that it's apples to oranges. bwar uses RA9 for pitchers rather than FIP and different defense and baserunning for hitters.
  13. The more precise answer would be 6 years of service time, which could turn into 7 seasons of control if he's optioned once or twice in the next 2 years, because when you opton a player to the minors he stops accruing service time until he comes back up. He can't be optioned this year since he was a rule 5 pick and has to be on the 25 man roster all year. If they wanted to option him this year, the Jays would have to offer him back to SF first and they would have to turn down taking him back, which likely wouldn't happen. But as long as he spends all year on the 25 man this year, he can be optioned next year 2017 and the following year 2018for short stints that would stall his service time and gain an extra year of control
  14. Nobody is "s***ing" on him. He's had a great run. But the question I was answering was "when can we start buying into this as, perhaps, a new approach?" Given his extremely high babip, chances are it's not a new approach, just a simple hot streak of noise in the grand scheme of things, just like Colabello ran for about 4 months last year. I'm not saying he's trash, just that he's not the great hitter that his slash would suggest on the surface. And yes, enjoy it while it lasts.
  15. He's still carrying a near .400 babip, which heavily skewing his stats
  16. So I guess we won't hear buck, Zaun or Analytical Tabby bitch about the shift on that play will we?
  17. And for the Jays... Biangini, Chavez/loup, Osuna. Massive advantage for the Yanks for the next 3 innings
  18. Omg..... Pat Tabler just said "I am analytical guy." I can't stop laughing....
  19. The difference was that Romine was setup out there and CC hit the spot, off the plate. When Happ was hitting that spot he was trying to go inside and was missing outside.
  20. Should hve challenged that slide. He was off the bag to the RF side by enough that it could have been called.
  21. Nobody can. Toronto has his bird rights, so the best deal can only come from the Raps
  22. Per Masai, #1 priority this offseason? Re-signing DeRozan. Casey is the coach of the future. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15837852/toronto-raptors-general-manager-masai-ujiri-re-signing-demar-derozan-no-1-goal
