  1. Might have been traded or released since the jacket became a thing?
  2. Nice, Nate strikes out the side. A few more of those low leverage situations and he might be ready for something a bit more important
  3. Oh you can’t do that….that’s a HR jacket, pitchers should have their own. The juju on that jacket is now gone.
  4. It’s a bit of both because actual results can vary widely from pitcher to pitcher dong the exact same thing because of those things that are not in the pitchers control. The perfect example is Matz vs Ray in August. Both pitchers had very good ERAs, but only one of them actually pitched well.
  5. No kidding, I hit send, switched back to the game and first pitch after hitting send was the double, lol
  6. Didn’t think I’d be tuning in in the 5th to see a no hitter in progress with an 8 run lead.
  7. True. But they’ve also gone 7-3 n their last 10 and made up exactly….0 games.
  8. I also went to Costco after it was 8-2…. Though I hadn’t realized they came back until this morning, which was a very nice surprise. Still doesn’t mean Manoah shouldn’t have pulled after 5 Chuck, I still want you fired.
  9. Nice Grichuk, probably an irrelevant play at the end of the day, but good f***ing job.
  10. Like wtf Charlie. Your entire pen is rested and this is a must win game….f***ing joke to leave Manoah in there when it’s so blatantly obvious he was struggling with everything. I get the train of thought that you want him to try and get through the bottom of the lineup, maybe,..but after the lead off walk…that should have been it. Fire this f***ing clown already please.
  11. Too late. A f***ing blind man could see Manoah shouldn’t have been in there
  12. Manoah has to come out…like now. He’s not even close right now. Whatever has him off, he needs to get out before he walks the bases loaded for the top of the lineup….which of course means Charlie would put in our worst reliever to give up a bases clearing double.
  13. Depends on the type of pitcher. Guys like Ryu would likely be done a great disservice as the hitters would be less likely to offer at the borderline pitches with 2 strikes, which the human umps get wrong a lot more often than balls in the zone. It will all come down to how the zones are programmed for each hitter, and how much data the teams are going to be eligible to get after the games.
  14. Of course. They were leading baseball prior to this cold stretch at .282 A two week cold stretch does not define a season.
  15. You might want to look up the MLB stats on RISP. Jays are hitting .267 with RISP, which is 3rd in MLB trailing the #1 and #2 places teams who are at .271 (Houston and Washington)
  16. There was an article on baseball america about it, and they said hard throwers at the top of the zone benefitted greatly becauase that's the strike that the human ump doesnt call. However, they also found the low strike that human umps tend to call, wasn't called. They also found that the left and right side of the zone borderline calls greatly benefitted the hitter. No more human ump strike zone expansion on 3-0 and 2 strike counts, which is when the majority of those calls get blown by human umps. Frank Viola is on one the teams in the league using it and he said the command/control guys really get stifled because they don't get the benefit of the human umps being swayed by framing etc. He also said, of course, that it's far from perfected and will only get better over time.
  17. Heh, drainage system ain't the problem in this case, since there's nowhere for it to drain. But, few things make me happier than anything bad that happens to the Yankees org.
  18. They've been using robo-umps in the minors this year - run scoring is up in those leagues as well, due in large part to the increased walks.
  19. My only disagreement is that under that system, a 20 year old star player is under team control for nearly 10 years with no chance at free agency until he's 30. Sure... he could likely be paid well having gone through arbitration 6+ times, but then there's 0 competition for his services each and every offseason, which could be highly beneficial to him if he hit free agency at 27, rather than 30. That's my only real concern. An age based system would greatly benefit the players that are maybe slightly above average or lower, but star players that are up before they are 23 wouldn't have the same type of freedom to land that mega-deal.
  20. Simple compromise would be like anything else, have both an age and a service time, they go to FA whichever threshold is crossed first. I swear some of these negotiations drag out unnecessarily just for ego's sake. Like with the last NHL lockout thing, everyone and their dog knew they would eventually settle at 50/50 revenue split...yet it took months to formalize it.
  21. That opening section with the horns and s*** is legit. Aside from maybe Steel Dragon's "Stand up and Shout", maybe the most iconic opening ever.
  22. So he's just a meme at this point then, lol. Gotcha, thanks for catching me up
  23. True story, except Rowdy isnt likely a 115 wRC bat. He had a hot month, and has bottomed out completely since then. 72 wRC+ in August after his great July. There's really nothing in his line that indicates he's on the verge of some breakout.
  24. Wow, I've heard some dumb s*** come out of Tabby's mouth... but giving credit to Montoyo for the starting rotation talent because he was a bench coach in Tampa and a player in Montreal.... How is that analysis?
  25. About the worst AB you'll see tonight right there. Swings through both borderlines pitches, watches the meatball.
