  1. He was a junior, could have easily went back to school and went #1 again next year to some other team willing to give him the full slot. You don’t dick around the kind of talent that breaks Barry Bonds college records and would have set the all time College HR record if not for COVID. Why quibble over a few hundred grand when next year the slot is likely going to be even higher
  2. But in that week, he gets one start. Is that one start worth not getting 30ish starts down the road based on a possible catastrophic injury that may happen in between?
  3. 100$ - Padres under 100$ - White Sox under 100$ - Angels under 100$ - Reds over 100$ - Mets over Kinda rude to post the Orioles line for 162 game season in a 60 game format though. I’d still probably take the under
  4. Billionaires arguing with millionaires over money paid to them by people making less in their lifetimes Than they do in one season, or in some cases a few weeks. The whole process is so out of touch that both sides need to pull their heads out of their asses, or nobody will be watching at all when they come back.
  5. We were talking about command pitchers being not what you want to target in the draft, and someone said something about Halladay being a command pitcher. We discussed this briefly about how Roy would sit 92-93 but could get to 95 whenever he needed to with ease. Then Alan said something about Roy really knowing what he was good at, and I said “ Flying a plane?”
  6. You can bet there will be a lot of signings announced soon after the draft. Not really much reason to waste time dickering over money when there’s only 5-8 guys per team to sign. Chances are the majority of them already have deals agreed to verbally and just need to work out the minute details.
  7. First voice on the recording after me making the joke Alan: OMG you have to cut that!
  8. Life expectancy in 1918 was sure as f*** not 29. I don’t even need to look it up to know that’s garbage.
  9. So..... with a most likely shortened season, does that any player or manager who is currently suspended has to wait longer to start serving them? Or, does a suspension for the season just count as however many games they play this season?
  10. Who cares if opinions are unpopular. I think there’s a ton of reasons to sign Puig if it’s a 1 year deal in the 5-10 million range. There’s no such thing as a bad 1 year contract.
  11. Probably. And it will be a team like the Rays who he will kill it for, and be flipped at the deadline for someone who turns into an allstar for the next 7 years.
  12. Fired up today, 100% on point. According to the LA times Puig has already turned down a 1 year/10 million dollar offer from a national league team. His camp is obviously not yet willing to sign that kind of deal.
  13. Alford isnt a trade candidate. Hes a DFA candidate that you feel lucky if theres anyone out there that wants to give you anything for him.
  14. Theyll keep getting good reviews until the first even minor contoversial word is heard from a player, then theyll be an uproar.
  15. His stuff looked great honestly. Nothing spectacular on the gun, he hit 91 once, sat 89-90 consistently with that but his splitter was really working. Pretty dull game overall but Jansens homer was legit. Was pretty windy today and wasn’t consistent so one inning it was blowing in the next it was out...the next it was left... weird day.
  16. Having been right behind 3rd base yesterday I can say with certainty he’s lost no weight. Didn’t look bigger either. Status quo. It’s unfortunate though Because if he drops a bit of weight it could make his feet a bit quicker and give him at least an outside shot at not being a 1b bat by Next season. It could end up costing him millions of dollars down the line...though I guess as a guy who’s already set for life that may not factor into his thought process.
  17. Notes from the game in Bradenton today as I was in attendance: Pearson is unreal and as weird as it sounds, it looks like he could still add muscle to his frame. He also won me a few drinks because no fans there knew he could throw 100. Zeuch was laughably bad. His walk of shame down the baseline alone after being torched was like sadness personified. Alejandro Kirk is even rounder in person than he looks on TV. O’Neil Cruz Is somehow a legit SS at 6 foot 7. Incredible upside potential even if he moves off short, the dude has scary power and looks like he could use Joey Cora as a bat. He murdered the baseball off Zeuch. I think Vlads homer hit the netting in left field before the sound of the bat crack could be heard. Only a slight exaggeration.
  18. Anyone know if Spats is down in Florida yet?
  19. Then whomever programmed your unfinished program is decidedly weird.
  20. I'd say the players that died, and their families have had decidedly shittier luck than the Angels.
  21. That one was mine. For some reason, my wife still hasn't clued in not to open the door to the cat treats while the podcast is going on.
  22. Vlad's swing looks very bad right now
  23. The only percentage Buck is even remotely authoritative on, is the alcohol percentage of whatever he puts in his coffee.
