  1. In the words of Toby Keith, he's not as good as he once was, but he can be as good once, as he ever was.
  2. Tomorrow is the last chance to add Yesavage to be post-season eligible. Odds they bring him up???
  3. Happens to every team at some point, and thanks to all those earlier banked wins, its not hurting them...yet
  4. If all 3 are at their best, it's damn close.
  5. Yeah that's just it, it's not just Hoffman or it would be an easy fix. Virtually every reliever is struggling in some form with the exception of Nance and Dominguez.
  6. Theyre gonna make a documentary on Hoffmans HR rate from this season. This is comical
  7. Atlanta is always looking for scrap heap starters
  8. There's virtually no difference in the self defense laws in Alberta vs any other province given that section 34 of the criminal code is federal.
  9. Another salary dump by Pittsburgh. Does he have a bonus coming up? Edit: yep. 250,000 at 500PA, might not have hit it anyways since he needs 81 more, but ...Pirates gonna Pirate.
  10. Barger on how he managed his game winning double the other day... “My bat was not working. It hasn’t been working. Ty France actually picked up one of my old bats in the cage and randomly decided to use it. I hadn’t seen the bat since last year, but he hit a homer with it. I was like, ‘Oh, shoot, I’ll use that.’ It worked.”
  11. I wouldn't even bank on Francis being ready. I know he hasn't had surgery (yet) but he was shut down twice with setbacks during his recovery. Imaging hasn't shown any structural damage but...still.
  12. He will definitely get a shot at a rotation spot next year. No guarantees of course nor should there be. Gausman, Lauer and Berrios are probably written in ink, but the other 2 spots will be available, probably 1 filled via FA and the other internally from the laundry list of options. Manoah, Macko, Yesavage, Ricky T, Lucas, Varland maybe...Van Eyk, Fernando Perez maybe.
  13. This. Results for him really dont matter right now...sure its nice to see him not decapitating hitters and getting some swing and miss but hes not on the radar for 2025... just keep him where he is, get as many pitches from him as possible, have a good offseason at the lab and see what happens next spring.
  14. 4 HR night ...stud
  15. I generally don't like either especially at this point of the season where everyone is so used to being on 4 days rest that those extra 1 or 2 rest days can throw off a rhythm. So much about baseball is built around routine and timing.
  16. Feels like they adjusted the rotation with the 6 guys to make these matches happen for this series
  17. Realistically going by pure fWAR, Kirk is the most valuable. But when your into the weeds if being separated by decimal points, it becomes more subjective for sure. Vlad is the straw that stirs the drink for the Jays. As he goes, they go for the most part. Thats my rationale. I generally dont break down most valuable into raw counting stats. Springers defense is so bad this season they had to move him to DH, so...thats gives Vlad the edge to me from an overall standpoint. Never thought id be using Vlads defense as a reason for defending his value...but here we are Kirk 3.8, Vlad and George 3.5, Bo 3.3
  18. Its still Vlad realistically, but... without Springer bouncing waaay back, Bo and Kirk bouncing back, Barger taking a real step forward, even Varsho's power resurgence in his limited time... I'd put Springer at the top of the "comeback player of the year" pile, but not quite MVP.
  19. A very genuine human being playing the game he loves and isnt afraid to show it on the field, while still not taking himself seriously. It's great to watch
  20. Casey Janssen always gave me nightmares when he was closing. Always seemed to get great results but since he wasn't a big strikeout guy the ball was almost always in play. Rarely walked guys though which was a major plus
