  1. possibly, but I dont think it was really an effort thing with the players. We'll probably get more info on it after the season/playoffs are over and then either Davidi or some other shill will finally have the permission to write about why he was really fired. My gut says there were disciplinary issues that weren't being handled to the FOs satisfaction and he lost the room because of it. The quotes from several players afterwards saying they were not surprised at his firing leads me to think that way.
  2. Let’s get the pen going right f***in quick. Need to keep this game from getting close and shut this s*** down now.
  3. Who has a more punchable general existence in baseball… current Rougned Odor or prime Dustin Pedroia?
  4. Is Teo standing 9 miles away from the plate a new thing or just a weird camera angle thing?
  5. Why don’t they just paint that padding yellow so they could easily see if the ball went over it? Such a simple solution to an obvious potential problem
  6. The reality is, all teams are streaky and consistently inconsistent. It's just that on this board, we watch the Jays the most often, and therefore have an observation bias that they are terribly inconsistent because we see nearly every single time they screw up.
  7. The teams in the central will probably all be under 500 next year with the reduced division games.
  8. It's also an anomaly to take 3 of 4 in New York followed by a sweep in Boston, and take both halves of a doubleheader, regardless of the teams involved. Can't bitch about the negative anomalies without acknoweldging the positive ones.
  9. It's not a fully balanced schedule tho. A completely balanced schedule is not feasbile due to the massive travel differences
  10. Seattle's rest of season schedule is kind of a cakewalk outside of a few games. 2 more against the White Sox, 3 against Atlanta, 2 against the Padres, then a road trip to play 4 @ the Angels, 3 @ Oakland, 3 @ KC then finish up at home with 4 against Texas, another 2 against Oakland and 4 against the tigers. 4 off days sprinkled in also. Hard to see them stumbling with that many games against complete garbage remaining.
  11. This reeks of counting chickens ….but I’d rather play Cleveland. They do not scare me at all.
  12. Where does the narrative that Zimmer’s baserunning sucks come from? Using whatever measures Fangraphs uses…if you prorated his BSR to 500 PAs he’d be top 15 in baseball. Prorate to 550 he just outside the top 10. Bag on his pool noodle bat all ya like, that’s indefensible but his defense and baserunning are absolutely elite.
  13. Why bring up Moreno to bench warm and maybe pinch hit? Jansen and Kirk can more than handle the catching duties. Not saying Zimmer is the correct move, just saying not adding Moreno isn't necessarily wrong if there's not enough playing time for him. As for Lawrence over the other guys.... yeah, I don't get it unless there's something we dont know about injuries. Like, I get not bringing up 2 of Merryweather/Pop/Gage... because you can only bring up 1, but... Lawrence? He's the worst of that lot by far.
  14. Lawrence over Merryweather is a bit of a head scratcher, maybe they're just keeping him in AAA as long as his rehab assignment permits then punt Lawrence into the sun when it's over.
  15. Not a single player in the first 3 years of service is mad at other players in different situations for making more money. They might be mad at the system in place, but not at other players.
  16. So the platoon advantage for the opposition would be RH hitters who would never hit HRs.
  17. There's rumours Conforto might be ready to come back in late September. Might even be able to sneak him in for a few PA's before the playoffs (wouldnt be eligible for the playoffs of course) and get the inside track for next season.
  18. I would put dumping dead weight into priority #1, then move to your list. Dead weight being Tapia.
  19. Watch them ditch all their starting pitcfhers and sign nothing but lefties now also, then move the fences back in to a sensible distance after a few years.
  20. And right up there with art, high end collectibles are basically nothing but money laundering.
  21. When i was watching this camera shot last night the exact thought running throuh my head was "this guy looks like a serial killer"
  22. Dude is sitting splitter for sure, why not try the slider here?
  23. Swung at the right pitch, just didnt get a good result. Damn
  24. I dunno, in Oakland it's nice to know someone in the park is getting past 3rd base.
