  1. Yeah, he's still recovering slowly from COVID and hasnt been to Sox camp yet so theyre not letting him go. Seems like the right call

I dont think it's about the exact dollar value but it will be based aorund a % of whatever the overall salry cap will be. MacKinnon's new deal gives him just over 15% of the overall salary cap. If you take that same % and apply it to the estimated cap of 88 million for the 24/25 season... it would be 13.44 million. The actual # will depend on what percentage they figure is reasonable and what the actual cap will be but... yeah 13 million is probably pretty close for the 24/25 season.

Nah, i think they're okay keeping Buchnevich, but Barbashev has to go. May as well try to get something for him, though I doubt it will be a 1st round pick like some think.
  4. No doubt... a quick rundown of Pearson's injury history: 2018 he fractured his right forearm after being struck by a comebacker 2019 - actually healthy and shot up prospect boards to be arguably the top pitching prospect in baseball 2020 - flexor strain kept him out almost all season 2021 - strained his groin, which eventually became a sports hernia that required surgery 2022 - mononucleosis and later straining a lat muscle Total major/minor league IP from 2020 - 2022: 78 plus the 12 innings in winter ball in this offseason. 90 IP over 3 full seasons. Bulk reliever would be his best case scenario this season.
  5. according to reports he will be getting reps in the OF this spring training. Though im curious as to why he's being pegged as a second baseman, he has a cannon for an arm in the IF and could easily be the heir apparent at 3b when Chappy leaves.
  6. https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/opinion/2023/02/21/nate-pearson-isnt-the-prospect-he-once-was-the-blue-jays-believe-the-star-potential-is-still-there.html?fbclid=IwAR1Irlc3g2YLsamtbGFlXTkO-n-DNpo0ayqP0Etr5PzF3husEPQH0XofD3I Pearson update. Short version is,......"this spring the Jays would be content if he established himself as someone who can be regularly called upon from the bullpen. “It’s just the way things have been going,” Pearson said when asked to reflect upon his transition from starter to reliever. “Obviously I’ve been a starter for my whole career and the last couple of years there were just a bunch of injuries. Right now, if pitching out of the bullpen is what I have to do to get back to starting one day, or whatever it may be, I’m just ready to pitch and I’m excited for it.” That means Pearson, for now, is coming back as a reliever, one that is expected to open the year at Triple-A Buffalo. “Whether it’s relief or bulk, his stuff speaks for itself,” Jays manager John Schneider said. “He’s kind of a wild card. Last year was tough for him with injuries and illnesses and things like that, but we’re still talking about a guy who was the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball just a couple years ago ... To be here healthy and throwing is just a plus for us and we’re looking for him to be a big part of what we’re doing.”
  7. Exactly. Keep it up and we’ll be really hesitant to add you to the whitelist.

I think they just havent found a deal for him yet. He's been rather Bottom 6-ish the first few years of his career until last year when he suddenly seemed to remember where the net was and that he should shoot the puck at said net. Now this season he's a step back from that again. Blues might be trying to trade him as a top 6, when he's probably truly a third line guy with fill-in top 6 skills. Still should be plenty of teams looking for that kind of depth for a stretch run though.

He's a UFA at the end of the season, if its looking like they cant re-sign him, he's gotta go. Armstrong really screwed the pooch with some of the deals he made in the past few years after the cup win.

IN their favour though, none of the contracts are overly gross to the point they are immovable if the Blues eat a bit of money. The real probalem is they all have a full NTC except Buchnevich, who has a 12 team NTC.

Yeah. Who's left to fire out the door from St Louis now... Barbashev, Greiss, Mikkola?
  12. Canada didn't invite him to the camp. USA did.
  13. I tend to agree, though by the letter of the rule book windups like his were already illegal and could have been called balls long before the pitch clock. It was just something that was never really enforced with nobody on base. Umps could have been calling balls on illegal motions even without runners on base.
  14. LMAO, what a horrendous take. But what can you expect from a clown like Pigf***er McGee.
  15. Come to think of it Gausman might get a bit of flak for his kind of stuttering step thing leading up to his delivery.
  16. Actually the clock stops when the pitcher begins his pitching motion ( i think... ill doublecheck the wording in a sec) which would be the problem with Garcia. When does his pitching motion start in all that? **** Edit***** the wording from the rule states "The pitcher must begin his motion to deliver the pitch before the expiration of the pitch timer."
  17. The new rule states a pitcher must have a clear point to begin his delivery in order to stop the pitch timer, and Garcia’s multiple steps and arm motions don’t provide that. The rule says the pitcher is permitted to take one step back (or laterally) and one step forward. Thus, taking multiple steps before lifting the free leg is now deemed an illegal pitch movement. Even if he does this with nobody on base, it could be called an automatic ball.
  18. Right after posting it the first time, you usually need to refresh the site before it will show up for you. The rest of us can see it fine
  19. Is it sad i know the answer without googling it?
  20. I'm all for the s*** show in ST, get it over with before it matters. I just can't wait for the first game in the regular season that gets decided by a walk-off balk because the pitcher stepped off or something when he had already done so twice. The aftermath will be amazing
  21. Hopefully the pitchers and hitters all get used to it in ST and the infractions in the regular season will be minimal. It's going to be the managers i think that will be looking at ways to exploit the time clock.
