  1. nah, not all dominicans. Just Vlad. All Domincans would be stereotyping based on race, Brownie don't play dat
  2. Im actually in agreemnt with Brownie. The more people the Jays can hire to get ahead of the curve in their labs, the better. Get the Blue Jays to the forefront of the analytics/Driveline type of thing and it can only help in player and draft signings. Tiedemann right now is Exhibit A in the brochure.
  3. Yep theres one in the OF also. As far as I know, only the HP ump can make the call.
  4. Understandable, but... pitchers have to be able to see it.
  5. Honestly, I am loving trolling old people on facebook, twitter and virtually anywhere else i can about the new rules. It's like anytime there's a post about the new rules, its' like the bat signal to anyone over 50 to get on and whine about how the game is ruined.
  6. I think what youll find is that PAs will trend downward in the # of pitches thrown per PA. I'm not sure why I think this, it just seems like that should happen
  7. Absolutely. Best rule change in the past 30+ years since the one that made helmets mandatory for catchers while on defense in 1988.

  9. If youre in the market you can absolutely buy my 300,000k house for 800,000k.

Hard to say, there's not many contracts out there to compare against for his situation. 4.5 million per season for ... 3-5 years-ish
  11. Honestly at this point Im just hoping that Barger, Orelvis and Tiedemann can be the next set of guys that can make an impact (not like Vlad/Bo impact, but at least solid to plus regulars) at the major league level. Having them come along just as Vlad and Bo are nearing the end of their team control would be massive.
  12. minus f***ing 30 C in Lethbridge overnight last night... but will up to +1 tomorrow.
  13. https://www.dunedingov.com/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/127/#:~:text=Sitting%20on%20a%2065%2Dacre,Blue%20Jays%20play%20their%20games. A state-of-the-art facility unlike any other! Sitting on a 65-acre site, the new Player Development Complex (PDC) is the training facility of the Toronto Blue Jays Major and Minor League operations. The 115,000 square-foot building is located at 3031 Garrison Road, Dunedin, approximately 10 minutes away from TD Ballpark where the Blue Jays play their games. Player Development Complex Features · 6 Fields (5 brand new) · Sports Science Labs · 2 Half Fields · Hydrotherapy Room (hot/cold tubs, pool) · Covered Practice Field · Training Room · 20 Gang Mounds · Clubhouse (lockers, equipment & laundry rooms) · 12 Covered Batting Cages · Kitchen & Dining Areas · Speed Hill · Workrooms, Conference & Meeting Rooms ·Observation Tower · Media Room · Weight Room · Barber Shop & Nutrition Stations · Movement Studio · Player Lounge & Family Room Sports Science Labs would be my guess as to what they have that might be comparable to Driveline. If anyone has a subsciprtion to the Athletic, here's an older article that might get a bit more indepth as to what the labs have in them https://theathletic.com/2411431/2021/02/25/blue-jays-player-development-complex-photos/ f*** it, I forgot I had just signed up for the Athletic a week ago....lol Here's all they would sya about the labs "There are also three sports science labs located within — for applied research, movement and pitching — but, since they include proprietary information, the Blue Jays understandably did not give us a look at those."
  14. I'll try to watch a few more games this year and see what's up, but my suspicion is that he's just super swing happy. Probably the hardest thing to try and change while maintaining elite level power output.
  15. I agree with you 100%, they just cannot mandate it due to limitations of the contracts. They have no "control" over off-season activities. All they can do is try to bludgeon him with what they see, what they know and what they think he should do to fix it. And really, we don't truly know that he's not working on certain things, just that he didn't go to Driveline.
  16. Oh I agree 100% that every player should be wanting to improve themselves in the offseason. I don't get why any player like Vlad who can see a gigantic problem like his ground ball rate and not think "Damn, maybe there's a way I can get back to getting the ball in the air more often in this offseason, and maybe it's not Grandma's pies that will do the trick..." I'm sure most, if not all of them have a fairly consistent workout schedule and routine that is set up with input from the team with suggested dates to start certain things, especially pitchers. But you can only lead a horse to water.
  17. Sano is probably about the perfect comparison for Orelvis right now. It would be nice to get some of the early seasons he had out of Orelvis for sure, but hopefully with better health. Sano had a better eye though he always walked well above league average.
  18. I dont think it could be added to contracts, contracts are only in place until the end of the regular season and resume again in Spring Training, where they do get paid, just not as their regular season rate. To be able to add mandatory Driveline or anything specific in the offseason, the whole structure of MLB contracts would have to be changed
  19. You're not wrong. I think the player would have to want to go though since I dont think a team can dictate what a player does in the offseason. If Vlad doesnt want to go... can't really make him, just really try to convince him how it could help and hope he agrees.
  20. I like what you did here but a more apt comparison would not be to just take the "in AA at 20 or younger, had walk rates over 7% and K rates under 30%" line, more like "in AA at 20 or younger, had walk rates over 7% and K rates over 25%" Under 30 is too broad and doesnt differentiate between a guy at 29% vs a guy at 15% which is a really big difference. Loks like that would Put him in the camp with Sano, Tatis Jr, Santana, Greene. Not a terrible list.
  21. Probably just cheaper to send them there.
  22. Excellent and so far very underappreciated joke.
  23. Yeah he was drfated out of high school by Milwaukee but passed. He's also a switch hitter and wants to play both sides of the ball. We'll see how that goes.
