  1. And it's stupid there too. But it wouldnt harm anyone's viewership or enjoyment of the game if next year the NFL started allowing players to wear whatever #'s they wanted regardless of position.
  2. And then when teams have retired more than 6 numbers? Being hardcore about what series of #'s are allowed on the back of a jersey is really really arbitrary and weird.
  3. Missing #s to skip over, 75, 76, 78, 80-84, 86, 87, 89, 92, 94-98.
  4. I think it’s just the timing of the event and the less than routine schedule a starter might be experiencing at the WBC vs what they get at ST. Relievers I don’t think it matters as much but the starters get ramped up in a very specific way and I think a lot of them don’t feel like they get that perfect routine at the wbc. Especially this season when they know they’ll need to get used to a pitch clock and limited disengagements and pretty much an entirely different on field flow of the game.
  5. New rule changes/ updates: Extra inning runner now permanently implemented. Still not going to be used in the Playoffs Position players can’t pitch in a game unless a) it’s extra innings, it’s the 9th inning and your team is up by 10 or more, or c) it’s the 9th inning and your team is down by 8 or more
  6. I guess Jansen is stuck in the middle of several scenarios that probably make him not all that extension worthy at the moment. #1. Injury history #2. Kirk is friggin awesome, cheaper and under more control already #3. Trying to extend Vlad and/or Manoah would be higher priority I think IF the jays were to approach Jansen, they'd probably want to line up his last year to be the same as Kirk's current last year of control which is the end of 2026. That would be buying 2 FA years after his 2024 Arb 3. so,,, 3 years/32 million ish? call it 7 million for 2024 arb 3 and then 12.5M for 2 more years? Murphy got 15m for his FA years, but I think Murphy might be a bit higher on the catcher tree than Jansen. Maybe not. 3 years 37?
  7. I hate it when a smart team picks up a DFA of the Jays... ya just know he'll be fantastic for them.
  8. That's vomit inducing IMO.
  9. I saw this one, but its not behind a paywall https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/35563220/way-too-early-2023-mlb-starting-rotation-rankings They have the Jays at 8th 8. Toronto Blue Jays Game score W/L: 95-67, .586 Average game score: 54.4 Dominance rank: 4 | Consistency rank: 3 Gems: 43 | Eggs: 21 Rotation: Alek Manoah (22-8), Kevin Gausman (23-9), Chris Bassitt (22-10), Jose Berrios (13-14), Yusei Kikuchi (7-11), Nate Pearson (5-6), Mitch White (2-5), Hyun Jin Ryu (3-4) The addition of Bassitt gives the Blue Jays a strong core trio with three potential 20-game winners (well, "game score" winners, anyway, but I love the old-timey nomenclature). There are questions with some possible exciting answers even after Manoah, Gausman and Bassitt. Can Berrios get back on track? Can Ryu return by midseason, as he says he wants to do? This rotation has a chance to not just be good, but to be really, really deep.
  10. He's got a glove on to catch anything that might hit him... no biggie.
  11. There's still plenty of time for that. Catchers are not typically the guys you want to extend for big years and money anyways.
  12. High respect for KK getting put in that group.
  13. He looked fine in the Hazel Mae vid above heading to the batting cages this morning.
  14. Yeah, and we was here in 4 different stints, all with #1. Only 5 different players wore it from 1977 - 2001 (Bailor, Fernandez, Eddie Zosky, Tomas Perez and Mickey Morandini), but 15 players have worn it since.
  15. Yep nice to see but he’s probably out of his depth in this tourney. Advanced A ball last year and though he faired decent, wasn’t a world beater by any stretch. Will get some great experience though
  16. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/02/blue-jays-sign-luke-bard-to-minors-contract.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook Jays sign reliever Luke Bard to minor league deal, invite to ST
  17. Do you remember the hype on this 32- year old rookie's bat?
  18. Feels like this would be a blueprint for Manoah also doesnt it Javier: 304 IP, 378 Ks, 1.035 WHIP, 11.7 K/9, 3.1 BB/9, 3.90 FIP Manoah: 308 IP, 307 Ks, 1.012 WHIP, 9 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 3.35 FIP Only difference in what the deal might look like is Manoah isn't arb eligible till next season and will probably be a Super 2, whereas Javier was arb 1 this year and not Super 2, so they just bought 2 FA years. If the Jays were doing this with Manoah they'd only be buying out his remaining team control.
