    They need to win against Colombia and Mexico for sure basically, the tie breakers if they go 2-2 do not favour Canada at all with the 20 runs they've given up in the first 2 games

    At this point im just hoping Canada's pitching holds up. Skirrow was unexpectedly excellent and it needs to continue. This game is going to be tight and I can just envision all the beer leaguers coming in and walking the planet.

    Pretty much, though they do alter it if they think they should, like in the case where it's very obvious a guy is ready a year or two ahead of that mandatory addition date.

    Impressed by Skirrow so far. Need this outing from him too, Canada could easily lose this game.

    Almeida looks like he has pretty decent stuff. Suprised he's not in someone's minor league system. He's definitely wild, i think they need to just wait him out.

    Votto is hurt right now, he had some kind of surgery in August last year dealing with rotator cuff and bicep or something. I dont think he's even played in a spring game yet.

    I like these overall, but I don't like who has to get hurt for Barger to be top 3 in ROY voting.

    Yeah, this Spring Training is really kind of boring when it comes to roster speculation. There's what ... 2 pen spots and 1 bench spot that really have any real conversation around them, and even then the conversation isn't very long. The 2 pen spots will be filled by Richards and White, unless Richards really stinks it up. White is a bit behind due to injury, so he may open on the IL temporarily so I guess that's a temporary spot that's available. And then it's whether or not Lukes or Lopez gets the last bench spot. Both have been fine so far. Bernard maybe has an outside chance at it, but he's not shown well yet. Beyond any of that, guys are just jockeying for position on plans D, E, F and further down the line.

    There's a Kirk and Belt joke in there somewhere, I'm sure of it. Red Sox sending the C squad it looks like so should be a nice tuneup for Manoah and whomever else pitches today.

    Yeah but remember signing bonuses get carved off mightily by the training academy the kids play at. Usually in the 50% range. Maybe Vlad didnt lose much since he was playing at his uncles academy, but who knows.

    Another decent showing from Kikuchi, the numbers say he didn’t have his best stuff early but made and adjustment and got it done. Still had 14 swings and misses too.

    In a vacuum…no. But to get the Jays from a 90 - 92 win team that might make it through a wildcard to a possible division winner that can make a deep run, the situational issues that plagued the Jays in the past few seasons needed to be improved. Varsho helps address that without giving up massive offense

    Varsho’s whiff rate is only slightly worse than league average, 45th percentile. Contact is not really his issue I do agree with you though, I would not have Varsho hitting 5th.
