  1. Yeah, like i was waying earlier, overall he was good, either in the zone or just missing. He missed well wide with a few curve balls but that's still in development so not unexpected.
  2. Nice. Nate coming in next.
  3. Well if he came from England is would have been Flautist then.
  4. The hair.... like... my god the hair.
  5. First thing i thought of too, luckily seems okay.
  6. Doesnt look like it, hes out there at 1b
  7. He settled in nicely after the 1st inning though. Well done.
  8. Yeah, I think if today is the worst we see of kikuchi this season, it will be a pretty good year for him. Though of course we can never be sure what he's been told to work on today either, and his overall sequenceing might be totally different in the regular season. His slider seems harder today though. LIke, he's usually 85-86 and today its been 87-89. That's weird and might not be getting the right kind of depth he normally gets.
  9. Overall he's been okay most of his misses have been very close misses and he's filled the zone pretty well. Slider is still lloking good. his curve is still definitely a work in progress, changeup hasn't been consistent though. Fastball has looked good.
  10. Strider got 6/75 from the Braves. Its not crazy to lock them up for their arb years
  11. add that both were going into the last years of their contracts.
  12. What would a Manoah extension look like right now. I know it's not a super priority but locking him in to guaranteed money sooner rather than later would be ideal imo, cost certainty and all that. Jays have him for 5 more seasons including 2023 (1 league min year and then arb 1-4 as a Super 2), so ... 5 years/50 could account for his remaining arb years pretty easily. 2023 - 1m (vs league min) 2024 - 4m (arb1) 2025 - 9m (arb2) 2026 - 15m (arb3) 2027 - 20m (arb4) something along those lines anways. Team options for 2 more seasons after that at 25 per, with a 4 million buyout or something? Total of 7 years, 100 million possible if the options are picked up, 5 years 54 if options not picked up. Could add in some bonuses for top 3 Cy Young placement or Cy Young wins. low? High?
  13. I love that the split squad is against the same team's split squad. Philly goes down twice today!
  14. Some hyperbole there, but yeah. Keep the current rule changes too, that will keep the running game going.
  15. I say juice the balls, and let pitchers use spider tack. Even trade.
  16. 7-4 Orioles, not a bad showing for our AAA/AA/A ball guys versus a good chunk of their major league roster.
  17. Apparently MLB is going to be giving fans a more transparent look at the review process in some games this year. From the press release: In the 2022 MLB season, there were more than 1,400 replay reviews. Historically, the league's replay review was reliant on disparate technology and audio-only communication with umpires on the field, resulting in fans being disconnected from the decision-making process. Beginning with the 2023 Season, the Crew Chief, the most senior member of the four-man umpire crew, will connect to the Zoom Replay Operations Center using Zoom's Contact Center solution during any replay review. During national broadcasts on MLB Network and Apple TV+, fans will also see the Zoom Replay Operations Center in action live during replay reviews and hear from an expert rules analyst who will discuss replay reviews with the broadcast team. MLB's goal with this new setup is to create a more transparent and engaging review process.
  18. Pretty close yeah. A few AA guys there too.
  19. It used to rank way higher, but it's definitely on the downturn. Probably somewhere between poker and darts.
  20. True. Would definitely not have the luster and shine that it could have though. I'm in the camp that while the timing of the WBC is not perfect, it's the best it can be if they want to get the bigger names of the game involved without disrupting the regular season.
  21. You should make more friends I guess Baseball is really popular in Southern Alberta, BC lower mainland and southern Ontario. East coast has pretty rabid baseball fans. Its certainly not on the level of hockey, but I think it's probably #2 in front of basketball unless the Raptors are actually deep in the playoffs.
  22. Yeah, that's not unrealistic I suppose. I think it would still be really hard to attract any MLB or even minor league pitching to the WBC with that timing, most of them would just be ready to shut down. I could be wrong but i can't really envision a team sending their pitchers there after the season is over. I think the position players would be totally fine with it though
  23. MLB is a partner in the WBC and wouldnt want to take eyes away from their primary product by running the tourney at the same time as the playoffs, would they? Like, as far as advertising goes, if im a company and i'm paying big money for MLB playoff spots, would I want another MLB product in direct competition with that taking eyes away from my spots?
