Avg velo will be seem to be down though if you intentionally keep it on the low end (90-92)for the first half of your pitches, then ramp up (93-95) for the second half. That's just math, and will all depend on how soon/late he flips the switch

One thing I really hate about hitters, when they come to bat just deciding before hand they wont be swinging, and watch crushable meatballs go right past them.

My point is, beating the bottom dwellers shouldn't mean that everyone thinks the Rays are the best team in baseball like people that do weekly power rankings do. If they were 11-0 against top 10 projected teams, sure, let's maybe re-evaluate.

I dont want to give them to omuch credit for their current record though, they really have played the softest schedule in the MLB. Their 1st 4 series were against projected 5th place teams in their divisions, 2 of which are projected to be bottom 5 in all of the MLB. Yes, its impressive they've ran the table so far, but lets not move them up to WS favorites because they've stomped on bugs. No matter their record when they come to toronto on Friday, if we take 2 of 3, them taking out the trash doesnt mean a whole lot as far as power rankings go.

I dont care if they have the festivities, just do it before the scheduled opening pitch. Advertisers on TV dont want a massive chunk of audience gone for the first 30 minutes of a broadcast when nothing is happening.

I'd be more inclined to punt Richards and keep both Pop and Pearson. I like Pop in the pen, just not as a high leverage guy yet. -
