    13 mill AAV...and Hayes is locked in a 7m AAV. As it stands now, the Pirates have exactly those 2 guys on guaranteed deals for 2024 and beyond. Gone via FA this upcoming offseason will be Hill (8m) Carlos santana (7m) Hedges and Cutch (5M each), Choi (4.7M) Velasquez (3.2m) and Stephenson (1.7M). They have a club option on Jarlin Garcia for 3.25 M. 3 guys hitting Arb 2 (Brubaker, Keller, and Underwood Jr) and 5 hitting Arb 1 (De Jong, Bednar, Crowe and Joe. The rest of the roster is still league min. Estimated payroll for 2024 is about 30 million, plus whomever they add in the offseason. Obviously Nutting is going to make a play for Shohei. He's got the space.

    Yeah the only way they could is if they sign Rutschman and a few others to really team friendly deals to possibly allow a free agent signing or two. And lets not forget Adley Rutschman is already 25 yeards old, it's not like he's 21 or 22 in his 2nd year in the bigs.

    Virtually any team that's been crap for the last 6 seasons will have some great young talent in the pipeline. Last time they did this it was a 14 year run of crap, followed by a 5 year window of being decent, then back to 6 years of crap.

    No doubt. It's just introducing another wrinkle into the stable of arms. I really dont think a 6 man rotation is ideal... and if the rotation has sorted itself out AND is fully healthy, Ryu just doesn't fit anywhere. He'd basically be a 20 million dollar long man out of the pen.

    Pretty much correct. At best they're gonna get 2 months + any playoff games out of Green. Lets also not forget Ryu is probably coming back along roughly the same timeline.

    SSS variance. DRS has Teo at 5 runs saved, Varsho at 4. OAA has Teo as 1 out above average, Varsho at 0. Right now the numbers suggest Teo is the 2nd best RF in MLB defensively. I think we all know that's not the case.
