    K. I believe you. I doubt Steer is even available though. Cinci can just move him to 2b/OF and trade India for the bag of balls he is worth. They wouldn’t likely be looking to trade Steer while he’s still making the minimum and have places for him to play.

    Because the contract doesn’t end up being 10/700, it’s ends up being like 25/700. That’s the simple way to explain it

Yes, it's possible he would have started to drop the next season even if didn't have the neck thing, and IF that happened, the body is likely to have played a role, but it's not as simple as just pointing to a fat guy and stating "everything that goes wrong with you is cuz you're fat and stuff"

    Faulty logic. There's plenty of pitchers who arent two way players that have had multiple TJ surgeries. It's unlikely being a two-way guy is much of a factor. The most likely factor is the fact that he throws thousands of baseballs every year as hard as he can in the most unnatural way for a human arm to do it. The few dozen "hard" throws he makes from the OF each season back in Japan isn't even a drop in the arm-stress bucket. Swinging a bat, while does use the same ligaments as pitching isn't even in the same ballpark as far as UCL stress goes.

    Even though I can't prove this, I can state with near certainty that yesterday had 0 to do with Ohtani's decision.

    Yeah, he said he wanted to ensure he would stay in one place, and be an advocate on the team to try and recruit other players to sign there.

    10/700 and most of it is being deferred at Ohtani's suggestion. Tells me he was going to the Dodgers regardless, but at least had an open enough mind to check around. Will be interesting to see what the Jays offer was if that ever comes out I never would have guessed 10/700... 12/600, 13/650... yeah I could see those numbers but 10/700 is just an unmatchable number IMO.

    I don't put much stock in stuff like this. I highly doubt the scenario is Harper coming up with an idea to get a longer contract than he has. Chances are, someone asked him a question about where he wants to retire...he said Philly, and then said he'd love to be able to play into his 40s. So Boras then says something like..."Harper wants to play into his 40s and stay in Philly, that would require a longer contract than he currently has." Factual statement Reporter translation to generate clickbait headline "Harper demands extension to remain in Philly until retirement"

    the only reason people think there is a delay is because certain baseball reporters keep making s*** up. initial timelines for a decision were reported as "by Sunday" the Morosi did his usual crap, made some s*** up about a decision being "imminent" and made up more s*** about Ohtani being on a plane to Toronto.

    What I was hearing on MLB Network and some other places prior to the winter meetings was that there was a budget that included landing Ohtani, and a budget without him. It was implied that the budget with Ohtani still had lots of room for additions, but the one without him was much lower. Probably a " if we don't get Ohtani we aren't gonna go nuts" know kind of deal.

    At that point I believe Rogers would give them almost carte blanche to do what they need to do to shore up the rest of the roster. No way they land Ohtani and call it a day. I'd sign Yamamoto and Hader, then start trading the excess as best you can to fill the gaps.

    Nobody from the Jays has leaked anything, the only person from the Dodgers that said anything about anything was the manager. Media members are just doing what they do best, generate clicks. Nothing the media reports on is going to be a factor in Ohtani’s decision. So far both FOs have been about tight lipped as ever. Gonna really suck when the Braves sign him.
