    I cant really think of a team i can pick above the rest in the NL that i would prefer to win over the other.... I feel like The Dodgers winning would be best for MLB as a whole as far as marketing and whatnot, but... if the Padres beat them, or even if the D's win the DS and lose the NLCS to either the Mets or Phillies, i wouldn't be upset. As for the AL.... Gimme the Yankees and Detroit. Chronic low spending clubs like Cleveland and KC are s*** for the game. I know Detroit is low this year, but they have shown in the past they aren't some perennial penny-pinching shithole that just takes money from other teams and puts it in the owners pocket. So... Detroit, NY, Mets and Dodgers. I think that's the best 4 for marketing purposes.

    I very much doubt a hitter can see the real difference in about an inch of glove height from 60 feet away. Possible I guess if you're really locked in on glove/jersey markers but if he was tipping it this game, chances are hes been tipping it for a lot longer and ... doesn't seem like many guys are getting good wood on it over the long term. I suspect Caleb Joseph is more correct in his assertion that he was just sitting on it and got a good one to hit. plus, Williams' fastball was all over the place in that PA so he could discount that pitch even more.

    This seasons budget was pretty big when ohtani was an option. Just sayin Hell, for all we know he's already had unofficial and hush hush talks with agents of guys like Soto or Bregman and maybe already knows they have no shot at them. That would suck, but...there's also ways to get more flexibility by trading certain guys

    Intentionally putting the tying run in scoring position usually isn't wise. He does strike out his fair share of the time too

    Baltimore gave up, Tampa gave up, Cleveland gave up.... not to mention San Fran, The white sox... i guess something finally clicked in Milwaukee.

    you should see some of these comments though... "fed up with current management" .. that one was my favorite and it's quite popular. Apparently they figure firing the GM and president and all the people who brought in the most young talent they've seen in ... forever... needs an upgrade.

    Upset yes, but acting like children who are entitled to winning playoff games is laughably arrogant. Celebrate the success of being one of the best teams in the league with one of the best cores in place rather than whining like babies.

    This is why you never grade signings in hindsight, just the process that led to them. If the Jays in 2021 had gone deep like they could have, the signing looks a lot better. But it doesnt change the reality that as soon as the ink was dry they knew the last few years were going to be s***. They all knew it was a possibility. It may be happening faster than they thought...or his decline might be steeper, but they knew going in. Same thing every team knows about all the longer term contracts, they all turn to s*** at some point. So, a team really only had 2 choices...sign big name FAs when you can to improve your team on the short term amd live with the fallout, or...never sign big name FAs. There's not very many franchises that have consistently ran deep in the playoffs for long periods of time without signing them though. Low spending teams can still pop up every once in a while, but they never sustain it long term. Even the Rays magic well has been running dry.

    Orioles fans are legit hilarious right now. Melting down because they lost in the playoffs for the second straight year like they're some amazing juggernaut of a team that's incapable of losing because they've finally had a few seasons where they aren't dogshit. How do fans become so entitled so fast?

    It's actually nice to see. It's like he learned a bit from being a twat for the past decade. Either that or all that s*** he threw at the wall just hasn't slid off yet.

    I think Soto is a better combo of low Ks with power since the power is decidedly better, and k rate only like 3% worse. May as well sign them both I guess.

    Some guy put 20$ on Sale leading the NL in strikeouts this season back in March or whatever, and was scratched for his last start. him not getting 4 strikeouts cost this guy over 20 grand.

    I dunno, there was no structural damage to the tendons, they just relieved an impingement, so TJS is probably only as likely as it is for any reliever these days. Maybe they get him at 7 million, maybe 8. Either way his number isn't one that is going to be prohibitive, and he's actually one of the few good relievers they have in house.

    Give or take yeah. Tate is probably a non tender, maybe they can save a few bucks on the guys that were injured and or sucked, but likely won't be significant. Dollars available though will depend on how willing they are to exceed the luxury tax thresholds since they got under this season. Much like last season with Ohtani, there's probably multiple budgets being planned.

    Buck Martinez takes today on Blair and Barker: not a fan of the Guillermo Martinez firing. Said he was a good coach when they had good hitters. Then says he thinks hitters are getting the wrong message. Says Yariel should throw his fastball more, and stop throwing his other pitches until later. Says Bowden Francis knows how to pitch. loperfido needs to cut down the holes in his swing. Says changing his stance would be a good start. On Vlad, "he has a number in his mind and that's what he wants" "but it's a two-way street" "Vlad deserves to be paid along the lines of Devers". Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt - if he had to worry about 1 of them not being as good next year it would be Bassitt. Back to Yariel...Says he should speed up his delivery and throw fastball more. Pete Rose- says he was the most competitive player he ever saw. He only knew one way to play, full speed. Nobody outworked Pete Rose. Sad he never got his rightful place in the Hall of Fame, called out MLB hypocrisy in making so much money on gambling now.

    I thought the same thing g about Walker, but pretty much settled on the following He probably has nothing to do with minor league pitching development. Berrios on field results are way better than peripherals so...hard to argue with that really. Gausmans struggles can easily be pinned on injury and spring training. Plus he's been nailz in the second half... so hard to kill him on that. He probably gets some heat for Bassitts downturn but then again...age will take some of that blame. He's gonna get nothing but credit for Francis. Yariel probably performed about as well as expected given his lack of pitching on the previous year. Hard to knock him for that. As for the bullpen...injuries murdered. He can probably take some blame for Cabrera and Pop...but beyond that...ya can't make lemonade when all you're handed are turnips.
