While in town to be groomsmen at their sister's wedding that was to be today.
  3. Yeah, I think it would probably go the opposite way though, like they'd sign a guy first, then trade Bassit. But I think he's here next season unless Atkins pulls off some wizardry
  4. If it did, it was the very edge of a seam. That one was nowhere near as close as the one Springer got thrown out on a few weeks back.
  5. Like, I get why a guy might think a bunt there is defensible ( i dont), but...doing it with a guy who's clearly never done it and doesn't practice it...that's just dumn
  6. Oh for sure he'd be a guy they'd have to eat salary to move but they could get some warm body/ lotto ticket back. Besides, if they're under the tax already, there's no reason to shed salary. And even if they did as you said, who's taking him on just to pay him 21 million next season?
  7. I mean, the history of the franchise, all the moments good and bad.....all of that stuff still happened. Whether they play in the current shithole or not. Eventually ya just have to let go of a substandard stadium, regardless of how historic it is. One thing I give Boston though, Yawkey way is a f***ing amazing place both before and after a game.
  8. I know they'd never do this, but with a guy like Hill, why not move up in the batters box, its not like he's ever gonna blow it past you. More up and catch that curve way out front before it breaks off the plate.
  9. History will be there whether the stadium is or not. That's the cool thing about history
  10. But yeah, let's keep a solid metal wall out there because history and stuff. f*** player safety... Implode this f***ing dump already.
  11. Just on age alone...like, that's a solid 5-7 years of two guys who should be 5-7 fWAR. And I'd there's anything the Jays are flush with right now, it's capable young players that likely won't be stars, but won't be scrubs either. I know it's kind of a pipe dream, but if there's a time to throw money around, it's this offseason.
  12. Naw, both would have some trade value in the offseason still. As long as they're under the tax there's no reason to dump salary for no return
  13. What do you think the BoSox feel like tonight against Francis?
  14. Even if Bo has that risk profile, he's on the books for 1 more year at 17 million. Why on earth would we trade that away to replace with someone worse, and more expensive, for longer. Makes zero sense I know you're not advocating it. The entire conversation about it is lunacy
  15. First hit was a triple. Bet that doesnt happen very often
  16. Giants putting Ray (hamstring) and Hicks (shoulder) on the IL.
  17. Right now, just looking at the numbers...who's gonna sign to be a 4/5, for less than Yariel.makes and pitch as well as he has? Right now Yariel is pretty much on par with Bassitt as far as fip xfip xERA etc all go. Sure Bassitt is having a down year for him, but...the point stands. I think pushing either Francis or Yariel to a pen role just doesn't make sense unless the numbers of the new guy are demonstrably better. Otherwise you're just shuffling chairs on the Titanic.
  18. I think we generally agree that adding to the bottom of the rotation doesn't move the needle. If anything they need to add to the top.
  19. Right now, if you make the assumption that Yariel and Francis are the 4/5 starters, they have the back end of the rotation covered for just over 7 million. Both are proving (so far) to be capable back end starters. Why sign another guy, for more money to pitch like a 4/5 when there's already two options in house for cheaper? They don't need improvement at the back end, they need improvement at the the top and middle
  20. Focus on Soto, but keep Santander as the pivot fallbacknplan. Alonso would be fine too, but I shudder to think of the IF defense with Vlad at 3rd, Bo at SS, Horwitz atv2b and Alonso at 1st. That might be Greek tragedy level s*****
  21. A guy like him has to believe he's the best, even if he demonstrably isn't. He's not taking a discount, never was. The Jays can afford to pay him market value, the trick is getting him to realize his market value isn't higher than Judge, or whatever Soto gets, or even really comparable to them from an AAV standpoint. If he isn't willing to accept that, then they have to part ways. If Vlad thinks he's worth 40 million per season, he has to hit like Judge for more than 2 months.
  22. And if the Jays kick Boston in the nuts this series grant will be Masterbathing for a month
