    I was honestly pretty comfortable with Rob Brantly as emergency depth. He was good in ST and has been good in AAA. Perhaps he is injured?

    Mariners swap starters on the day of for the express purpose of messing with the Jays and not putting out a lineup until the next game starts. You almost never see that, especially in April. They always put out a lineup and then change it. It would be interesting to ask a baseball person if this is some kind of gamesmanship or breach of baseball etiquette. Maybe it doesn't matter at all, it's just unusual.

    Padres hitting .215 this year so this game was a nice step for them. I'm not judging teams by average or anything, but that just can't be fun to watch. Same as the Mariners hitting .222, they just seem super boring to watch for a good team.

    The Perfect Game for the bullpen ends with the walk to Ty France. It ends at 12 innings and 23 strikeouts. The no-hitter continues with 15.1 innings and 26 strikeouts along with 1 walk and 1 HBP. The last hit was against Adam Cimber in the Yankees series.

    The real baseball portion of this evening is over, I'm tuning out. I hope everyone who likes this kind of thing enjoys the casual non-baseball fan gimmicks.

    You don't see a team do a pitcher swap like that in April very often. It's usually a desperation move late in the year or in the playoffs.

    We knew the D stats were a fairly significant outlier going into this, he's not the best defender in MLB, but the hope was that he would take some steps forward with the bat. I thought it was an awful trade from the beginning and still do, but I like the player and am obviously rooting for him to succeed.

    With Jordan Romano's second out, Blue Jays relievers completed an 18 strikeout 'Perfect Game'. The last runner to reach base was a HBP by Nate Pearson 9.1 innings ago and the last hit was against Adam Cimber 12.1 innings and 20 strikeouts ago.

    It even looks funny on that jersey. Ball Four by Jim Bouton is one of my favourite books, but I haven't seen much of the jersey. The Vancouver Canadians play in Sicks Stadium where the Pilots played. It was moved to Vancouver after they left and renamed Nat Bailey Stadium.

    I don't like the lower case S. It looks really weird, I don't think any other teams do that. The black looks a little strange too, but I like the blue and yellow.

    At least they further silenced an offense that is hitting a putrid .227 with a 97 wRC+. Hopefully that trend continues against us.
