  1. I would think so, yes. I'm not sure that there is much of a practical use for that number, however.
  2. Does anyone think LaCava was the main influence in making this trade? He's just doing the leg work for Shapiro, to say nothing good or bad about the situation.
  3. Backup C for our Las Vegas AAA team and....retired? Now he's back I guess, but he was never any good.
  4. I like Iwakuma.
  5. The notion of different styles messing with hitters is legit, but Dickey is more different than any left hander we could get.
  6. Sure, that's possible.
  7. Well yeah, but Hendriks' projections would be worse as a starter and Chavez' would be better as a reliever. You can't look at it like that.
  8. I just can't see the Jays making this trade and then valuing him at less than 10 million per season. Maybe he'd take less than that, but there's no way for me to know.
  9. If we're committed to adding more rotation pieces, then probably not right now. If money is tighter than expected and he's the 4th starter, then yes. I think it would be good value for us.
  10. If Chavez is confident that he can put up another 2 WAR season, I don't see why he'd take any less. I really don't know, though. If his value is less than 10 mil on the open market, then what did we just trade Hendriks for? 3 million in savings?
  11. 3/25 with option?
  12. I'm pretty sure that they do.
  13. If you're going simply by missed starts than Buehrle didn't miss any. It's just a numerical fact. Why get so worked up over it? I'm happy we got some depth and teams use lots of starters. Period.
  14. Relatively injury free. We lost maybe 40 starts to injury, probably less than average.
  15. I do like that we have at least 6 viable SP candidates on the roster now. The Estrada and Chavez moves aren't great value by any stretch of the imagination, but they were almost necessary given the wasteland that we had entering free agency. Remember, we gave 10 different guys at least 3 starts in a relatively injury free 2015. That's not to say that the rotation shouldn't improve, but LaCava has acquired enough depth to put us in a much stronger position.
  16. The control is so bad lately, but I'd definitely consider Rex Brothers for 1.5 mil. There's some really good value hitting the pre-Rule V market this year.
  17. That can't be argued, but I was rather optimistic about what the new Liam Hendriks could do in the role that we are likely to give to Chavez. I'm not going to argue with anyone who likes the trade though, that's perfectly legit.
  18. I'm not sure I like the value for us in trading 4 cheap years of a good swingman for 1 kind of pricey year of a good swingman, but it could work out well for us.
  19. I definitely thought all along that he was the guy in the big Miguel Tejada trade, but that was Troy Patton.
  20. Just signed a major league deal with the Reds.
  21. Nine million for Maybin is a little steep if you ask me. Not that they gave up anything, but I hope the Tigers got salary relief.
  22. Not to hate on the U.S. too much, but some of these numbers are astonishing. http://nces.ed.gov/naal/estimates/StateEstimates.aspx 23% of people in California would be incapable of participating in this conversation. 41% in Imperial County, California 33% in Los Angeles 52% in Miami (how is that even possible?) 41% in the Bronx (lol Yankees) 46% in Queens 65% in Starr County, Texas Anyone think this is legit?
  23. I once read that 2/3 of prison inmates in the U.S. can't read. That might not be completely true, but they are just bad people right? Education had nothing to do with it.
  24. I think that we should claim him and bring him to Spring Training. He's arb eligible, but it will be for the minimum and we can cut him at a percentage if it doesn't work out.
