  1. Non guaranteed contracts are a spring training thing and are guaranteed when the player makes the opening day roster. This needs more clarification; I suspect it might be a split contract.
  2. I'm not convinced that Morales will provide more value than Tepera or Venditte and he's definitely not an upgrade over Loup. This move is unnecessary and an overpay in my books, especially considering we could have had him on a minor league deal earlier in the offseason.
  3. That's overturned in the regular season, no worries.
  4. If they plan on switching him and Sanchez later in the season, they will be able to stretch him out.
  5. It's a lot different when you are a LHB or RHP. Switch around Chris Davis' splits and he looks a lot like Danny Valencia. I also mentioned earlier that Sanchez was equally good against LHB and RHB out of the 'pen in 2014 and probably in 2015 as well, but I can't find splits. The fastball is unhittable from either side of the plate and that's all he throws in the bullpen.
  6. Sorry. I'll stop bring up statistics that disprove your false narrative. The last time the forum was this united against myself and the statistical data was when I insisted that Brett Cecil was a good pitcher. In fact, this is probably tame compared to that one. It's kind of hard to take any of your Sanchez comments seriously when the facts and logic are overwhelmingly against you. I can only laugh every time I hear "...but left handers....but the changeup....but his first 5 starts...". It's the same s*** over and over.
  7. They are likely above average or else his splits vs. RHP would be jaw droppingly good. Lefties hit .146/.244/.225 in a 46 batter sample in 2014, for what it's worth. I think the split disappears when he only uses the fastball.
  8. You're welcome to your opinion, but that is just semantics. Is Chris Davis not an elite power hitter because he has a 97 wRC+ against LHP's? Same goes for David Ortiz. Put in a lefty and they are both merely average. The total package for Davis, Ortiz, and Sanchez is elite though. That's what matters to me. Any incorrect usage is on Gibby's shoulders.
  9. I don't agree with your assertion that quality of contact is a luck based skill. That goes for both hitters and pitchers.
  10. Batters on both sides of the plate hit .149/.221/.191 against him, so something is working. They may be a touch of BABIP luck in there, but keep in mind that he gives up the least amount of hard contact in the league by a HUGE margin and exactly 2/3 of his balls in play are ground balls. Wade Davis: .158/.236/.236 Dellin Betances: .158/.236/.236 Kenley Jansen: .174/.215/.298 Aroldis Chapman: .154/.268/.227
  11. 6th inning? He's been one of the best relievers in the game for the past 2 seasons.
  12. Oh my Goins
  13. How do WAR and OPS say so? They are both still elite bats and they will be worth their contract demands if they age gracefully. That's what the issue is though, how well they will age.
  14. Thanks for the kind words. My dad is the most stubborn person I know, so I'm staying positive. It's just hard to sleep, that's why I'm still up
  15. Some out of options names to keep an eye on: Jimmy Paredes, Rymer Liriano, Oswaldo Arcia
  16. Thanks everyone. We're headed out of town for chemo in a day or two, I'll keep you all updated.
  17. I'm not sure what I was thinking, thought his service time was much higher. My father just got diagnosed with leukemia, so I'm really scatterbrained the last few days and trying to keep my mind off of it.
  18. I should have read what he quoted before I responded. I thought you were discussing leaving him down until May or so to avoid super 2.
  19. Hutchison and Chavez?
  20. I suspect the great majority of backup OF at-bats in April will be against LHP at the expense of Saunders.
  21. Lake makes more sense than Ceciliani being a RHB. He's a worse on D, but I expect Pillar to play most or all of the games in April so I'll take the better bat in LF.
  22. It has everything to do with it. You expect great lineups for both teams in a split squad, which isn't realistic.
  23. I'd consider a deal involving Hutch and a pitcher like Jesse Hahn if his health checks out.
