  1. I would clear out Refsnyder, Maile, and Rowley. I question whether we should tender a contract to Tom Koehler, but it seems like they will. I think we definitely need to add Greene, Jansen, Pannone, and McGuire. I'd also consider adding Davis, but I don't think the rest are at risk of being taken. Tellez is unlikely due to his position. The last 1B I remember sticking was Chris McGuiness several years ago.
  2. Just like how Syndergaard wasn't on the table for Dickey (or so we thought).
  3. Alex Anthopoulos to be named GM of Atlanta Braves Sportsnet Staff November 12, 2017, 11:47 PM The Atlanta Braves will make Alex Anthopoulos their new general manager, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi has confirmed the report. Sherman had previously reported that Anthopoulos was the Braves’ Plan B after Kansas City Royals GM Dayton Moore. Anthopoulos had been serving as the vice-president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but was the GM of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2009-15, leading the team to its first 90-win season since 1993. The hiring is expected to be announced at the GM meetings this coming week, according to Sherman. The Braves have been without a GM ever since John Coppolella resigned on Oct. 2 after MLB found proof of significant international market infractions Atlanta made with regards to free agents. _______________________________ It's nice to see another Canadian in a GM role, regardless of what people may think of him. He's a good person that represents the country well.
  4. That .321 wOBA this year sure was impressive. That wasn't a reputation, it was a fact
  5. The news that we wouldn't allow Doc to work with our young pitchers is one of the worst indictments of our franchise that I have ever heard, if entirely true. That's disgraceful.
  6. The news brought me to tears at work. I will miss you Roy.
  7. I love the Guerrieri pickup.
  8. It's possible, but I need to see more before putting him ahead of Manny Machado.
  9. I wonder if we could make a play for Almedys Diaz. He's 27, seems to be out of the Cards plans. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more than a rental.
  10. I don't have a lot of faith in Rowley and Anderson. Even a guy like Scott Feldman would be preferable in my opinion. The rotation will decide whether we make a run or not.
  11. If he's headed to the 'pen, I wouldn't hate grabbing someone like Jesse Chavez for a no-name prospect, just to solidify the rotation a bit. The Angels would obviously have to crash and burn a bit, which I keep expecting, but it never happens.
  12. Should our play in the next 2 weeks merit a move, relievers have been going for rather low prices.
  13. Fangraphs has our chances at 7.3%, which is far from insurmountable, so I'll remain optimistic. We all know that this team is capable of reeling off a big streak in the second half.
  14. Is it just me, or is this one of the weakest top 10s in recent memory? Could just be the fact that Yoan 'Brandon Wood' Moncada is first, but even the rest of it looks rather weak compared to past years.
  15. I have to agree that it's definitely a low 3/4 delivery. Vague terminology will result in differing scouting reports though.
  16. I don't think that his arm angle has changed very much from past years.
  17. I'm not trying to say that he can't or won't be a starting calibre outfielder, but there are an awful lot of guys with good AAA statistics and strong skillsets that just can't transition to the majors. I think that we would be smart to give him a shot, but a strong insurance policy is essential.
  18. Duquette has done very well with the hand that he was dealt in my opinion. They have a meddling owner who won't let him sign international players and probably wouldn't let him sell at the deadline either.
  19. We're in serious trouble if Hernandez is our starting RF to begin the year. At the very least, we need a strong side platoon player.
  20. Looking at only DH's isn't a good argument. You can find a 97 wRC+ bat on the scrap heap and put him at DH, not that we should replace Morales.
  21. I think that they have a specific plan in place for Pentecost's shoulder and they don't want to have to alter it. Hopefully the kid gloves will come off at some point.
  22. They've got Danny Jansen eating up most of the time behind the plate. That may be part of the reason.
  23. I like what the Sox got for that package more than what the Tigers got for Martinez. I wouldn't have expected that
  24. He put on the wrong uniform.
  25. Bogaerts that piece of s***.
