  1. Agreed. A reasonable expectation would be for him to make a modest contribution to the bullpen in the latter half of the season, provided his rehab goes well. If he ever becomes a significant part of our rotation then we will be rather lucky.
  2. Why hate a team because of the city? Toronto is a crowded and crime ridden shithole as well, but we all still like the Jays.
  3. Add David Bell to the list of managerial candidates.
  4. I've seen the Orioles get blown out enough times this year.
  5. Gore might be worse than a pitcher at the plate.
  6. That's actually a metaphor, not hyperbole.
  7. Ah yes, more hyperbole. That will surely diminish how stupid you look. Let's hope that people don't realize you're taking the lowest of all of the projections. I'm headed to bed, but please keep desperately digging your own grave. This is fun to watch.
  8. I take the time to make a detailed response and you are fixated on that of all things? You obviously misread the split in the post before yours as his full season mark and then tried to cover your mistake by lying about the projections. Then I leave it alone and let you off the hook, but you bring it up again for some incomprehensible reason. This is too funny.
  9. All of the projections on fangraphs are higher than that, but I digress. Regarding the DH situation in particular, I simply feel that we don't lose much by replacing Morales with Hernandez/Tellez. We will also save a bit of money, which leads me to my second point. We have put up a 100 wRC+ this season, good for top 10 in the league. That's not outstanding or anything, but we have a promising young core that should improve and will also add Vlad Jr. to the mix. In my opinion, the majority of our offseason additions should be focused on the pitching staff. Right now we've got an overperforming Borucki, a disaster of a headcase in Stroman, a constantly injured Sanchez, and a collection of flawed prospects and journeyman. There will be no contending in 2018 unless we add 2 solid rotation pieces.
  10. Morales is in the final year of his deal and put up a fairly strong season. He has value at the right salary. Teoscar Hernandez doesn't have a 90 wRC+, he has a 102 wRC+. I'm not opposed to an upgrade, but he's a young player that could still improve. If not, we also have Tellez making a strong case for some DH at-bats.
  11. Trade Morales and put Hernandez at DH, while standing pat in the outfield. Use that Brantley money and any Morales savings to sign pitchers.
  12. Chris Woodward stands out as an interesting candidate. He's young, understands analytics, and has plenty of ties with Canada through his wife and playing career. He had this to say last year: "I think you're a fool if you don't understand the importance of [analytics]," Woodward said. "You can have the smartest people in the world, but if the players don't buy in, it doesn't really factor in."
  13. I fail to see what blisters would have to do with arm speed. I think any logical person would tell you that blisters affect grip and ability to spin the ball, whereas throwing mechanics would have a greater effect on velocity.
  14. I don't think a minimal change in velocity is really a significant reason for his struggles, but he has said as much before, that the finger issues have affected the way that he throws.
  15. Considering that his velocity hasn't changed, the logical answer is that a great deal of his struggles can be attributed to the finger issues. Hopefully the doctors can get that sorted out.
  16. If you say so. The fact that you are too stupid to engage in intelligent conversation and instead resort to name calling speaks volumes.
  17. That's debatable. He scored a number of crucial goals in the Oilers Cup runs (159 points in 77 games). I don't know if single handedly is the right term, but he was far and away the best player on the ice and they almost certainly would not have won 4 cups without him, particularly in 1987, whereas the loss of a Kurri or Messier probably would not have changed things.
  18. Sorry for making you look stupid. Maybe stop making incorrect statements and it won't happen as often.
  19. If you would call it a bad start then I don't know how to respond. The blisters cropped up in his next 2 starts.
  20. You're trying way too hard to make a point that isn't at all true. First of all, he pitched in 24 games in his first season. It was a dominant showing for an extended period, not just a one week cameo. In the 'not very good', 2015 season he ended with a 4.22 xFIP, not to mention an absolutely superb postseason run. That's not too bad for a first full season. The next season, his first full season as a starter, he was one of the top pitchers in baseball and garnered Cy votes. After a great start to 2017, the blister issues cropped up in a start against the Orioles and it's been a rough road since then. Some blister issues and some pitch mix issues have contributed, but the staff ace that we saw in 2016 still has all of his stuff and we've seen that for stretches this year.
  21. Obviously he should get the chance to compete for a rotation spot in ST, but he would ideally start the year in AAA as depth.
  22. So the word 'first' now means 'a portion of the second season'.
