  1. Astros pitchers would scare the hell out of me unless they brought their secret grip concoction along with them.
  2. Trade Pillar and Tepera for Gray, then sign Happ and Cahill. I'd be satisfied with that rotation going into 2019. Put Grichuk in CF and grab some OF and BP depth on the cheap.
  3. It's definitely too early to give up on TJ Zeuch as a starter. Tall guys with big velocity usually take forever to find their command, but he seems to be doing well in that regard. In my viewings, I thought his breaking stuff was a bit too tight and in the zone too often, especially the curveball. If he can get some more break and get it out of the zone more often then we may see more swings and misses. Maybe even a little deception could help, as it is a pretty straightforward 3/4 delivery. The main point here being that a small adjustment could turn Zeuch into a valuable piece. We don't need to see massive improvements before he's a rotation piece in the big leagues.
  4. I would prefer Smoak and Stroman.
  5. It may be a 7 for raw arm strength, but it certainly isn't close to that for accuracy. I thought he used his arm as a crutch and didn't have proper footwork in a lot of games this year.
  6. I'm dying at work today. Hopefully tonight's game ends earlier.

    NBA Thread

Popovich drawing up some amazing plays in OT, especially the Mills jumper to end it. He and the Spurs are just a treat to watch. DeRozan looks fantastic for my Spurs on the offensive end, but it's the same old defense. Hopefully they can work that out before the playoffs.
  8. Once Eric Wedge was off the board, I was pretty neutral about the candidates. I don't necessarily want him hired, but I'd love to hear more about Ed Sprague and how he made it this far. He's obviously more intriguing character than you would think at first glance.
  9. Quality of opposition is an important consideration. Cleveland's opponent led the league in pitching WAR, which was more than 50% higher than Houston's opponent.
  10. The Dodgers have more talent, but hopefully they don't roll over and die like Houston did. That was the worst postseason performance of recent memory, especially on the hitting side of things.
  11. If you can't recognize the disgustingly bad hitting performance that the Astros are putting up then you really don't know baseball very well.
  12. Without knowing more about him, it's really hard to say if he's a good or bad candidate. Obviously he's got a superior grasp of analytics if he's a finalist. I like that they're taking an outside the box approach.
  13. This is one of the most embarrassing performances that I have seen from a team in the playoffs. The Astros hitters have missed a ton of opportunities against a mediocre pitching staff. It's baffling how they even made the playoffs.
  14. Ed Sprague was also interviewed, could be the mystery finalist.
  15. Rocco Baldelli would be a great choice in my opinion. He has been in charge of implementing a lot of the forward thinking ideas that keep the Rays ahead of the curve
  16. The Orioles made an eyebrow-raising move in August when they traded $750K in international money to the Phillies for minor league first baseman Jack Zoellner. It turns out the Phillies may have released Zoellner had they not found a taker for him, according to Kubatko. Per Kubatko, Philly was “far less enthusiastic about Zoellner” than Baltimore’s front office, which was then led by since-fired GM Dan Duquette. Zoellner doesn’t rank among Baltimore’s top 30 prospects at MLB.com, and, as Kubatko notes, didn’t stand out in Rookie ball from 2017-18 despite being old for the level.
  17. Freese has also been a playoff beast in his career, with a pretty long track record.
  18. f*** Boston and their s***** pitching staff. I love seeing the least knowledgeable fans in sports get disappointed.
  19. I recall him talking about his ring, but I couldn't point to a specific interview. It's the custom these days to give a ring to every player that contributed (like Teoscar Hernandez) but I'm not sure if that was always the case.
  20. I believe Carlos Delgado has a Blue Jays World Series ring.
  21. Back to back trips to the ALCS really sucked, I agree.
  22. I haven't seen a playoff performance this bad in years. The Yankees players should be ashamed of themselves. They simply rolled over and died in all aspects of the game. What a disgrace.
  23. Those worthless sacks of s*** don't deserve any credit. The blame for this game falls on the Yankees.
  24. This is an absolutely disgraceful performance from the Yankees.
