    Well considering the Toronto media consist of guys like this, I don't see why not.

    Not a big deal, the Blue Jays remain tentatively engaged in dialogue with the remaining options and if things don't pan out, there's always hope for improvements internally from guys like Ricky Romero and such. Not to mention the pressure of winning being lifted off this year... that should be good for at least 3 wins.

    "in the hypothetical scenario that Wallace could put up 2006 Lyle Overbay numbers.. many teams would be happy to have him as DH and occasional 1b fill in.. he wont do worse than E5 at 1b.. If I was small market non-competing team.. factoring salaries, I would try my luck with Wallace this year as DH and 1b fill-in over E5. Again, I haven't seen recent scouting reports and I dont know what kind of progess Wallace made over the off-season.. but if he made strides, I would take him over E5.. a guy that hasnt had .800 OPS season since like 2006 and habitually has dreadful splits and slumps.. E5 obviously is what he is.. " Yup, definitely a classic! hahaha

    Calling Alex a penny-pincher when he's well known for his famous quotes of "we really liked player X but we just didn't agree with the price tag" (which has so far led to his failure to ever outbid for a free agent starter) should hardly be considered "revisionist history". It might be cynical and a bit premature considering the current market but that should be somewhat expected from a frustrated fan-base. By the way, if you and that other turd (CHP) find that the post content here is getting "more and more ridiculous" because it's not fitting in with your unconditional support for this front office, then perhaps you should quit your whining and GTFO.

    Probably but I don't think this team plans on paying Happ $7 million to pitch out of the pen.

    The way I see it he did a pretty good job initially in setting the ground work for a good foundation. But then he mindlessly put an axe through it in order to prematurely "go for it" and ended up with a 75 win team that is now essentially behind the eight ball. IMO having a good team "on paper" has earned him more credit than he actually deserves.

    You're absolutely right, I don't know what I was thinking blaming AA for the terrible performance of the players that he himself scouted, acquired or handed starting jobs to. It's can't possibly be his fault that the often injured Johnson and Morrow shockingly couldn't stay healthy with no backup plan in sight. It's can't possibly be his fault that the catcher he believed in played like absolute garbage despite many on here wanting him gone long time ago. None of that is his fault... In fact, he deserves to be handed the key to the city for assembling a championship "calibre" team.

    You have got to be f***ing kidding me... This team gave over 50 starts to guys like Ricky Romero, Chien-Ming Wang, Aaron Laffey, Ramon Ortiz, Esmil Rogers, Todd Redmond and Chad Jenkins and also gave away over 1300 AB's (which is almost 25% of the team's total AB's) to guys with a negative WAR. Do you have any idea what that means??? It means that AA completely neglected the importance of depth in a 162 game season and did nothing to rectify things as the season went on. We are now fortunate enough to have the benefit of hindsight to clearly see that he made some glaring mistakes in the way he assembled this roster and only an idiot would argue otherwise.

    I don't really find it all that interesting. Last years team, if healthy, could have still missed the playoffs by just a few games and it would have become more clear that experimenting with a key position during an "all-in" season isn't really a good idea. Unfortunately, this FO still hasn't learned its lesson.

    Well considering his immediate regression the following year, I think it's safe to assume that luck was indeed a major factor... 2013 = 3.0% BB 13.1% K rate, .234/.259/.300, 0.264 BABIP

    I used to hate the Yankees and their massive payroll when I was younger, but since then I've learned to respect them and their passion for winning. They're making money and choosing to put it back into the team instead of their own pockets and usually end up signing the best options available. After all, they've won 14 division titles since the last time we've sniffed the playoffs and we can only hope and dream about the day that the Blue Jays would find losing as unacceptable.
